Kane's Mask

Finally Kane gets some reward for all his hard work and I dont think anyone can disagree that he has earned his place!

But looking at the offical Kane WHC thread, alot of people are saying that hopefully this title run will lead to him wearing the mask again.

Yes I loved Kane with the mask and Kane is pretty much the only reason I still watch WWE but I don't understand this obsession people have with the mask?! I used to think people thought that he would always job without the mask, but he is back to his dominant ways and the WHC all without the mask, so what would putting the mask back on achieve? Its not like he will become a merchandise top seller like rey and his mask and I'm pretty sure it would have been Glenn's decison to loose the mask anyway.

This isnt a hate thread, Im not going to say to everyone you're wrong I just would like to know why people love the mask sooo much.

i guess because it looks cool and reminds people of the days where kane was truly dominant and when he was at his best. they think putting his mask back on will magically make him better...i'm assuming. it won't make a lick of difference, he's past his prime, and now he's proving that even without his magical mask he can be on top.

I liked Kane with the mask as it was mysterious and we had no idea who the big dominent monster was.

Now we would all know who is under the mask and i just cant see it being anywhere near the same as it once was.

There's speculation that Kane will face 'Taker in a match that involves fire and re-burn him, which means he may don the mask once again or gain a new mask entirely.

Though I believe his un-masking is permanent, I admit I'd like to see him wear it one last time.

The whole point of the mask was to cover up his BURNT face they even used to add like dark makeup/paint under his eyes so you couldn't even see his skin. So putting a mask on now would be really ******ed. Kane looks better than ever, he lost alot of fat in looks like hes in great shape.

Kane not only deserved it but he will do good carrying it. I don't have interest in his mask anymore I really like him right now, the mask is dead people period

I agree, we long for the kane of old but realize we can't have him back....HIs aura was the last to parallel the fear that undertaker brought to the ring....It feels like he is a little less deranged now that he has nothing to hide....

The mask was nothing special. Kane is a great character and talent with or without it. The fact that he's just been helping putting over talent the last couple of years is probably why people wanna see the mask. And I think it's a shame. Kane wanted the mask off himself. This. The mask is just kind of a symbolic thing now, kind of like a statue of Buddha (sorry if that offends anyone), people look to it and know that something used to be there, but now there's something completely different going on that people may like less, but is now at the "top of the mountain" and really has something good going for him. I have no desire whatsoever for the mask to come back because Kane has done fine without the mask, although it provided comedic segments at some times. Let's just all come to terms with the fact that Kane is just as awesome without the mask and that he's a World Heavyweight Champion, shall we?

I just think its a better look for him and yeah it does remind me of the late 90's/early 2000's. One thing that he lost with the mask was his hair. Does it bother anyone else that he still shaves part of his head and then leaves a little stuble? Since we all can see he isn't "burnt" now at least let him have a normal shaved head or hell if something does happen where Taker where to make it so Kane leaves WWE for awhile, let him grow the hair out a little, idk could be just my opinion.

I don't know how many times we have been through this. People who think he needs the mask really need to move on because he is getting a world title push without it. I think people hold on to nostalgia for too damn long. They loved it when he was the domiant monster that feuded with The Undertaker, the fact that there was this mysterious face under the mask. Now he has been unmasked since 2003 I do believe. Thats a long time and people still think he needs the mask to be successful. It is truly unreal.

So these fans that beg for Kane to throw his mask back on are just fans that haven't gotten over his demasking and are still basking in the nostalgia that was a part of his gimmick way back when. It doesn't matter if he has a damn mask on at all. It's basically in ring attire. Kane is doing very fine right now, and is also getting the biggest push he has ever gotten arguably since his early years of debuting. He does not need the mask plain and simple, it was a mere overrated piece of in ring attire.

The man does not need to put on his mask... The mask is nothing but a crutch. He is good enough to perform without the mask. Sure, he's the World Heavyweight Champion... But he doesn't need resort to wearing that damn mask again. I'm so sick of people wanting the mask to come back!! He doesn't need it. The mask was an excellent way to further his character in the beginning of his career, but the Kane gimmick has evolved and it is totally different then before. The mask has been gone for 7 years... Why bring it back?

What funny is that people claimed that the only way Kane would ever win another world title was if he wore the mask again. So much for that, eh?

Regardless, this topic as been done to death. He doesn't need the mask anymore nor should he wear it. The mask was to hide his burned face. We've seen his face, it's not burned, we don't need it. He's finally got the world title. That's more than enough for Kane.

I just think it looked cool as hell, and made Kane look more threatening, just like I preferred his fully red/black attire compared to the tights he wears now.

Just personal opinion, I would like to see Kane "lose his mind" somehow and return to wearing the mask. It is unlikely to happen though

He dosen't need the mask, for about the 5442334 time people always bring this up when he gets a push or even when he is at the bottom of the roster.They say if he gets it back he will get back on top of the mountian again.It has nothing to do with the mask, it is about how you preform in the ring and your mic skills along with other things,But a mask dosen't do anything to help you in the ring and your mic skills.So no he dosen't need it back as it was all to cover up a burn which I can't see on his face.

Does anyone else remember back in 2006 (I think it was '06?) when there was the "fake Kane" storyline? For those that don't remember, the unmasked (real) Kane was in the ring, when a masked (fake) Kane came to the ring and chokeslammed him or whatever he did. That angle didn't really lead to anything.

There was one PPV match, which the "fake" Kane won, then the next night on Raw the "real" Kane kicked the "fake" Kane's ass and threw him out of the building. The "real" Kane also took the mask off (although we never saw "fake" Kane's face on camera), saying something like "this is mine!" (referring to the mask).

The dirt-sheets said that the angle was nixed so quickly because the audience was completely dead during those segments. From what I remember, it was reported that Vince originally wanted that angle to go on for months, to tie in with Kane's movie at the time "See No Evil".

The point to all of this is that if there was a time to put the mask back on Kane, it would have been then. I understand that Kane is more over now than he was then, blah-blah-blah...but putting the mask back on him now (more than seven years after he took it off) would be stupid.

I don't think this new comatose-Undertaker angle will culminate with Kane wearing the mask, although I have to admit that it would be cool to see "old-school" Kane for one last run.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there an original plan for undertaker to return at summerslam and feud against kane in a casket match? Maybe, kane was going to lose and undertaker was going to burn the casket which could have led to kane bringing back the mask. But looks like those plans are scrapped because undertaker has still not fully recovered.

Now I have been a KANE fan ever since they first started talking about him when Taker burned Paul Bearers' face. And I loved when Kane first debuted at Badd Blood in the Hell in a Cell Match. So mysterious and monstrous and dominant, Kane was such a powerhouse then and still is now. I loved the mask and th different takes of his mask that he wore, especially his last one. I DONT think Kane needs the mask at all to prove how dominant he is, the man is FINALLY the Champ!!!! But, I also get why people still love the mask, and if they did do some sort of angle to bring back the mask, itd be cool to see it one last run, if not, I am still an absolute Kane fan, and that'll never change

People love the mask because thats what made Kane different. It just told u a story abt Kane's Kayfabe past. IT reflects the attitude era KAne. PLus the one which he wore after 2002, the half mask looked cool. Kids loved it n chicks dig(dug) it. WHat else do u need?

The subject of Kane's mask has gone up in the air wayy to many times if you ask me..

1st off, the mask was to hide his burnt face, he was a psycho who locked people in caskets, burned them, and had some of the creepiest promos next to the Undertaker. That's just not WWE anymore. And even if they just threw the mask back on him it would not do anything for him in his current state.

It would just make no sense whatsoever. I'm sure you all remember when it was 1st coming off, it was a big deal. People wanted to see that because that's like rey rey losing his mask.

But those mask days are gone. It would be good for a week or so for nostalgia purposes but nothing more. Lol I remember when he was carrying around the burlap sack. Everyone thought it was his mask in there. Me as well. And I just remember being like wow, this again.

WWE has come very, very far with the Kane gimmick and reverting back to the mask is just a step backwards. he did have a run with the title while masked but if you remember it was UT that helped him win that match and rob the title from Austin. Next night on Raw, Austin is out @ the belt ceremony and totally fucks it up. I believe he was escorted from the building by police if I recall right. Yes, classic, but that was then and this is now.

Kane has an identity now, a face, and fans need that face to associate things with. There are some exceptions like Rey, but that's a heritage thing. Totally different.

So in short, heeellll no, I would NOT like to see the mask back. What's done is done and the past is the past. When are people going to let go of this crazy obession that Kane is somehow better with the mask.

my very 1st match i watched when i was a kid was masked kane debut and tear up taker and hbk during their hell in a cell match. i remember that fat guy (i dont remember his name) screamin "its kane, its Kane!! kane is here!!!" and of course he had a mask i think he was more aggresive and didnt give fuck when he had his mask on and now that he dont his matches get a bit...not exactly boring but less pain and suffering which the origianl kane loved
