Jurassic Park 4: Starring Chris Jericho

The funny thing about this whole fude between Y2J and Flair is that Ric sort of let the cat out of thebag about a week ago. Ths site had an interview up i which he clearly states he'll be preforming at wrestlemania. I figured the WWE wouldn't go through with the whole Y2J/Rourke fude because WWE's official response to the movie was "while they respected his work the film dipects actions taken by past their prime wrestles at independent wrestling promoations. They are not world renouned like WWE" Sounds like a diss to me.

Flair will go through with wrestlemania to secure a spot on the WWE roster for his son Ried and also to get one more time to shine on the big stage.

I really don't care either way about this feud. I kind of figured that although Flair lost the retirement match that he would be back but I didn't think he'd come back so soon(a year later)but since he is getting old, might as well milk him for all he's worth.

Jericho really didn't seem to have anything for him to do at WM anyways, so at least if this happens it will be a hyped feud. The match will probably be as good(or bad depending on who you talk too)as the HBK/Flair match, maybe a little better since Jericho is a good heel, but it won't have the same "sentiments" around it. But I guess there will still be hype since it's Flair's return match. I can only hope Jericho destroys him and countinues down the path his going(as a ruthless heel).

I just find his whole "retirement" angle almost to be worthless if he's coming back and wrestling already. He is old, has had a great run, and should stay out of the ring. Allow him to come back and maybe mentor someone for Jericho to fight against, but don't let him be involved. Either way I don't care about the match since I find Flair boring to watch and listen to.

Right now, I've heard some of the whispers. He will be back next week, though no one's truly sure in what capacity he'll back.

Regardless, the thought that is being floated around right now is that The Nature Boy is having an encore for his Wrestlemania performance last year. Due to Mickey Rourke pulling out of the possible match with Chris Jericho, people are saying that, because Ric is coming back next week, that he will be the one to take Mickey's spot against Jericho at WM 25.

My question is simple..... Um..... Why? Why does Ric Flair have to come back at this point to defend his friend Rourke's honor, especially when you consider the following facts:

1. Ric Flair isn't even remotely tied to The Wrestler. Granted, Jericho called him out in a promo, and compared him to the main character in The Wrestler. But what does Ric have to do with this whole situation? Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't The Wrestler suppose to be about Greg Valentine? I just don't see how you can randomly throw in Ric Flair to the situation. If anything, Ric Flair HAS been doing none of the things which you see in The Wrestler. There's constant speculation he'd return to the ring, but he really hasn't. All he's done is a shoot interview here and there, and a couple of autograph sessions. Sure, he's been in trouble with the law, but that has nothing to do with wrestling.

2. Nobody really knows that Rourke and Flair are that close of friends. Hell, all we know is that Flair did one measly interview about the wrestler, and that's about all we know regarding there. Where does this mutual respect/friendship pop up?

3. In case you missed it.... FLAIR HAD HIS LAST MATCH! It was astounding, and for my money, stole the show at Wrestlemania last year (Though one could argue that the MITB match and Taker V.S. Edge were better matches. I know, Flair and Michaels had the better story, but in terms of a match, I'd say those two were at least on par with Flair and Michaels.) It was probably the best Flair could have left out on. And with the whole backstory between Flair and Shawn, I don't believe it can EVER be recreated. So why try? Does anyone remember when Mick Foley retired? (Ok, the FIRST time he retired). He had an amazing match with Triple H inside Hell in a Cell. It was bloody and barbaric. It was the perfect way for Mick to leave. And then..... What? He comes back in no less than a month at Wrestlemania 16? He's in the main event, which has already been watered down the Big Show? That main event was horrendous in my eyes, and part of the reason for that is simply because Mick wasn't in shape. Do we really expect Ric, who has been gone for a year, and was already out of shape before he left, to be ready and in his prime for a match with Chris Jericho?

Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe this will be the showdown Wrestlemania needs. I don't know, am I wrong here, people?

I don't wanna see Ric Flair wrestle at a house show let alone Wrestlemania.
Flair your time has been up, stop making people sick having to watch your gray haired, saggy tits in the squared circle.

Hes just toooo old
personally I think anyone over 50 needs to know their roles and shut their mouths
retire, spend time with your family, and live the rest of your life in peace

Flat out no. No No No No No. For someone his age, he doesn't have it anymore. He hadn't had it for awhile. But for someone his age, he was still damn good. The way Flair went out last year was perfect. If Flair wrestles at WM25, I will not be a fan. For him and HBK to carry on the match they had last year at a combined age of damn near 100, they stole the show. Jericho IS amazing. But he can't do what HBK and Flair did last year. If Flair comes back to wrestle, the reason will be very clear... he needs a paycheck. Last year was his RETIREMENT match. Now more than ever we should know that "never" never means "never." But Flair should not return to wrestle. I'd like to see him make appearances every now and again, but please Ric... DO NOT WRESTLE. I think if he had another match, it would make his match last year mean way way less. I know I can't be the only one that thinks this.

No I don't want to see it because he's had his goodbye match. If he does it again, then why not another one, then another, and hell why not make him a full time wrestler again or another Foley? It makes the most amazing night I've ever seen in wrestling seem like an angle which for one night only it wasn't. It's so hard to be able to do that and WWE did it perfectly because it seemed like he was saying goodbye. Guest ref would be perfect. I'd have no issue with that and maybe he beats o Jericho and puts him in the Figure Four. I'd mark out like no other. Wrestling though, no.

I respect Flair to a point, even though he is overrated. But no way in hell should he step inside another ring, let alone a WWE ring. Like KB said already, he had his good bye match, so another one would diminish his mania match from last year. It's simple, he is too old and too slow, and 15+ years removed from his prime. This match will be hard to watch because I know Jericho couldn't carry him to a good one, for fuck sakes, HBK couldn't carry him to a good match and we all know he is the "Showstopper".

Anyways, if he had a special role at wrestlemania i wouldn't have a problem, but i don't even know what kind of role that could be? The guest referee gets old, and putting him in someones corner would be stupid. So when push comes to shove, Flair shouldn't wrestle at Mania because it will tarnish his sendoff from last year and it will make him seem like another wrestler that couldn't stay away from the spotlight.

He retired in the most honorable way possible on the "grandest stage of them all". he should stay retired, and not try for the one last match

Great post. I don't want to see him near the ring at Mania. He had his moment last year, he can't come back for another swansong. If a legend is coming back at this Mania for a one off match it has to be either Austin or The Rock. If neither of them can, then don't bother in my eyes.

If he does come back he will have to face Jericho. Flair needed HBK to make him look passable last year, so the only other person in the business good enough to make him look decent is Jericho.

But no, Flair can stay away. He's had his time, let other people have the spot light.

flair should wrestle god at wrestlemania. if he wins he will live to be 198 yrs old, if he loses he will live to be 198 yr old.

Why not? Terry Funk retired like three times. Besides, it's not like Flair will be returning full time. It's just an encore performance at the silver anniversary of the biggest wrestling show of all time. He's earned it and at least it'll give Jericho a program worthwhile instead of wasting him in a Money in the Bank or some shit. The only thing that grinds my gears is the fact WWE will probably book it so Flair wins, even though he hasn't wrestled a match in nearly a year and Jericho was Superstar of the year in 2008.

There's no way Flair should wrestle anymore. He had the induction to the HoF, the amazing match with HBK, the send off on "Raw", and that's not to mention the buildup to "Wrestlemania". He should just leave well enough alone and go the route that Freddie Blassie did (being the Hof'er who showed up for special events and left people with a good memory).
I don't know what it is with WWE and Flair. He has the Wrestlemania experience, then is released from his WWE contract, only to come back for the idiotic "Million dollar giveaway", then drops off the WWE radar again, only to come back for this. I guess neither one of them really (WWE or Flair) really cares about legacies.
The only way I can see any of this working out is this;
1).Flair comes back next week to "Raw" and challenges Jericho on his comments.
2). Jericho comes down and beats down Flair, which prompts a match between the two at Wrestlemania.
3). Allow the angle to go for a week, which will then bring us PAST February 22nd (the date of the Oscars).
4). On Raw (on the 23rd), have another video of Mickey Rourke ripping on Jericho for his actions and then Rourke takes Flair's place at Wrestlemania.
5). Wrestlemania would then have Jericho-Rourke with Flair in Rourke's corner.

This scenario works well for me as it allows a match to be booked on the card, and an angle to be talked about for a few weeks, and doesn't leave a top star with no angle going into Wrestlemania.
Also, it releases Flair from erasing any of the good will he has with people who were moved by last year's Wrestlemania story.
And last, it allows WWE to get Rourke involved (which was obviously the plan originally). And with him coming back after the Oscars (on the 22nd), it would have no affect on his chances at the ceremony (not to mention it gives the WWE a major marketing boost if they can announce they'll have the most recent Best Actor at their biggest event of the year).

This is the only way I see this angle working. I doubt it would actually go this way, but one can hope.

Number One...RIC FLAIR WILL BE AT WRESTLEMANIA XXV..sorry to spoil everyone's surprise if that is even one lol...but here's the scoop to all u clowns.... Flair will both be present at the WWE 2009 HOF, and WM XXV...he will NOT wrestle he will either be a manager, or be a ref, Rourke will appear at WrestleMania, The WWE may use him as wrestler or just have him show up but he will be there as well... Now to the person who said no Austin... JR Has said Austin is retired for good...but lets be real he also said the same thing about HBK...Austin will most likely have a match but i can see the WWE announcing this match about 2 weeks before Mania if they have not sold out the arena for 25 but.... if they have expect Austin to be a surprise mystery man during the show, or come down stunner someone Jericho or Taker or HBK whomever but Austin will be apart of the WM PPV..... finally Hogan.. i have heard a rumor that there will be a legends battle royal with 15-20 Legends in it to promote the Legends of WM Video Game... now steamboat, piper, rhodes, snuka, bob orton, slaughter, duggan, sheik, papa shango, DiBiasi are most likely with a few surprises maybe Hogan as the last guy?(most likely winning) or maybe Flair running in because that would not take away from his retirement at all its a battle royal... depends on which way the WWE creative team, or should i say lack of, decides to run with it..

Drew

Like any already mentioned, Flair`s retirement last year was perfect...just don`t ruin it. Still with no flair, where does that leave Y2J for WM?
Looks like Flair will induct Stone Cold into the hall of fame....I was hoping to would be JR.

I don't want to see Flair wrestle again either, but I want to see him at Wrestlemania. What about David Flair? Does he still wrestle? I could see Rourke going and facing Jericho, then at the last second reveals a replacement, and its....Ayatolla!!!! Since i probably butchered his name, lets just say The Cat. That would be funny.

There's no way Flair should wrestle at Wrestlemania. If he does its going to tarnish everything that happened last year with his retirement and I think it will start to taint his legacy. He'll really start to become one of those guys who held on way longer than he should have. As for Y2J, if the Rourke thing doesn't happen (which it looks like it won't now) then I see him in the MITB ladder match. He's perfect for that match because he can be high risk, he's been in it before, and he's a legit contender for the briefcase. It wouldn't surprise me if he did end up winning.

I do not think Flair should wrestle at wrestlemania. He had his retirement match with Micheals, it was a big deal, and that should be the end of his wrestling. Face it, in the months leading up to that match, Flair was looking really old and really tired in the ring. He needed to retire and now he is done. If he were to try and wrestle again, it would tarnish the great memory, and quite frankly, Flair has been out of the ring for a year, and at his age, it can only turn out bad. Plus, if im not mistaken, Flair isn't even an employee of WWE anymore. What I can see happening is either the whole Rourke not wanting to wrestle is a work and in fact Rourke will wrestle Jericho and Flair will be in Rourke's corner, or... someone else step's up to wrestle Jericho (I don't know or care who at the moment, I was thinking Taker but its very probably Taker/HBK will be on the card for mania) and Flair can be in this wrestler's corner. This makes the most logical sense for all parties.

No, Flair shouldn't wrestle at WM 25. He retired last year and only continuing to wrestle will dilute his legacy. He's too old, hasn't wrestled since last year, and is currently hurt. If he does wrestle, then it will only be verse Jericho and only so he can end his career on a high note. The variables to make the feud work are there, Jericho bashing Flair, the fact he was out there in the ring after Flair's final match, all those could be tied in to a match between Jericho and Flair. However, an idea that's been brought to my attention from my other thread is a Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Jericho match at WM and Flair could play a part in the match, like referee or be at ringside, as could Mickey Rouke and Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. That to me would seem like a much better thing for Flair than giving him a match at WM.

Ric Flair has officaially become the new Hulk Hogan of Wrestling (in terms of coming out of retirement mind you). The simple fact is that if he were to wrestle at Mania, it would totally devalue the match he had with Mania. It would make him look like a liar and it would make HBK look like a jackass. Seriously, Flair, you need to stay retired. Do not pull a Michael Jordan or a Brett Farve, God knows we all know what happened there.

I think everyone is getting their hopes up far too high, far too fast.

Michael Cole essentially goes "By the way folks, Ric Flair's gonna be here next week" and people automatically jump into him wrestling again at WrestleMania against Jericho. Surprised I haven't come across the stereotypical "maybe Jericho has to put his career on the line!!!!" comment yet lol.

Jericho and Rourke had a thing going on. Did it amount to anything? Not yet. Will it? Doubt it.

Jericho mentions Ric Flair in a promo and he's coming next week. Why would they set up a WrestleMania match between the two before Jericho even loses in the Elimination Chamber? It'd be foolish. Plus, Flair is not going to be wrestling again.

I think everybody has to just face the facts here. Jericho is most likely either going to be shoved into the Money in the Bank again or he's going to be given some sort of minor feud match with someone else who has nothing going for him - such as a Rey Mysterio (another guy who could easily be in the MITB).

The only other option that springs to mind is something that Jake actually referenced already, and that's combining the WWE's previously rumored concept of a "legends match" with Jericho, such as having him run a gauntlet of a lot of washed up old stars that are still able to get in the ring for 2 minutes and lose. Jericho goes through Duggan, Slaughter, IRS, Piper, etc, and then finally loses when someone bigger comes out. For instance, who is the leader of the Hall of Fame this year? Austin. Who wants to be a part of WM25? Austin. Who could wrestle a 2 minute match, but can't do much more due to injuries? Austin. Who is a big enough star that could beat Jericho with only a handful of moves and get the crowd to pop hard? Austin.

Just throwing it out there. I highly, highly doubt Flair's spot on Raw next week will matter all that much in the long run.

They're not going to have Flair wrestle against Jericho, and quite rightly so. Flair is going to come back, cut a nice little promo saying how disrespectful Jericho is and then leave. Don't forget the trademark 'WOOO!'. Other than that, nothing. Why? Flair had his retirement match last year, and a BIG DEAL was made of it, so why would they waste that?

Plus, Flair wouldn't be able to put on a good match with his age. Jericho needs something huge at WrestleMania, but since it's most likely going to be Orton vs Cena for the title, it's hard to see what he can do unless Rourke decides to wrestle Y2J. Since, again, that's unlikely, he'll most probably be put in the MITB match. Highly unfair I know.

But here's an idea. Have the match for the World Heavyweight Championship a fatal four way. Cena vs Chris Jericho vs Randy Orton vs someone (not quite sure yet, Batista would have been perfect). Heck, have a McMahon in every corner again, like WrestleMania 16. Vince with Cena, Shane with the ?? (Again, Batista SHOULD be there), Steph with Orton and Linda with Jericho.
