Jonathan Coachman Gets Punished At SmackDown Tapings

This week on SmackDown!, Jonathan Coachman disobeyed one of Vince McMahon's rules and was punished for it in public. During The Undertaker's match with Zack Ryder, the two men brawled outside the ring near the announcers' table. WWE announcers are instructed to run away when the Undertaker is brawling on the outside and Coachman just sat there. As punishment, Coachman had to come back into the ring after the show was over and take finishing moves from multiple SmackDown! stars including Taker, Batista, and Finlay.
Just wondering what everyone thought of this. I personally think that doing something like this is stupid. Coach isn't a wrestler, If he got hurt he could posibly(sp?) sue the WWE. And in public of all things. Stuff like this between an employer and employee should take place behind closed doors.

Personally I dont belive this for a second. I think this is WZ totally talking out of their ass. Has anyone even heard of anything like this ever??? And why the fuck would they??? Its sounds absurdly unprofessional. Unless I see video proof I wont ever belive this, becuase its totally ridiculous. Not true at all is my opinion on it. I would love someone to educate me on the regularity of practices such as this. Becuase I think this whole report is total bullshit.

I mean, if it took place in front of the live crowd, then it somewhat makes a little sense. but from how the article is written, it doesnt seem as if thats how it went down.

Yeah this does sound pretty ridiculous. If it did happen it certainly happened for the crowd or part of a storyline. I'm sure that can't be legal. Imagine working at a bank and doing something wrong so they beat the crap out of you in the back. Just because you work at a wrestling company doesn't mean you can "attack" your employees.

If it's true then Coach has no balls. Why as a non wrestler would he take finishing moves off wrestler? He could be seriously injured. Weren't Cryme Tyme fired for doing something similar to a ref? He should have refused. What were WWE going to do, fire him? He could sue them for unfair dismissal. And he's make a fuckin' fortune. He could then go to TNA. They'd hire him, they hire everybody.

This really does seem like a dumb idea. When I read this i could only picture it being in from of the crowd and more as a humiliation thing. Even still, it would make next to no sense as Coachman has been a pretty neutral commentator since he came over to smackdown. He's got next to no expericence as a wrestler, so what could this possibly do other than cause him an injury.

yeah, this seems like a load of crap to me

how would they have done this if it were done in front of a live crowd is what i wonder. somehow they would have to tell Coach to get out there and get pummeled. unless they said it quickly through the headset to get the hell in the ring, which seems really unlikely given the snap reaction that would be required of everyone from Coach to the wrestlers involved, this just doesn't seem real to me, either.

I reckon; if this did happen, it obviously happened in front of a live crowd, anything else seems a little farfetched. This would have been set up in the back and I imagine that coach was doing a promo and it was to 'make a moment'. Either that or this story is total garbage.

Now, apparently Batista was involved, and the "finishing move" originally used has now become a shilleighleh shot. May I mention that Finlay didnt even appear on the program that night, as it was in the wake of JBL's beatdown of Hornswaggle. This report is bullshit, and is now full of inconsistencies.

Also, I've been seeing Coach on regular sports shows as a journalist, so he has other things going on. He has taken finishing moves before in storylines, so he probably knows how to be safe.

For some reason, I always feel pity when I see coach. There's something about him, like a sad dog. I can't explain why, but he just has that type of face.

If he was punished in this way, it is wrong. Yelling at an employee, which I've done, or telling them what the problem is in private is the norm, not public humiliation.

I am an Undertaker fan, but I'm really sick of everyone else in the company having to blow Triple H and Taker and the veterans or they get in trouble. I especially can't stand back stage bully douchebags like JBL. Everyone else in the company is supposed to bend over and open for these guys. Yes, they are veterans. I've been working here 9 years, but I don't feel that some new guy needs to perform oral sex on me to keep his job, nor would I ever publically embarrass or punish anyone under me.

I doubt this report is true, but if it is, poor Coach. :icon_cry: I hope he goes postal one day, and wipes some people out. I ask you, where's the luv?:D

Is anyone forgetting that the Coach is a major heat magnet?? what a way to end a show then beat the crap out of the guy noone likes, and im positive that the coach has taken a fair few stone cold stunners in his time so he knows how to take a finisher.. what difference does it make

"I am an Undertaker fan, but I'm really sick of everyone else in the company having to blow Triple H and Taker and the veterans or they get in trouble"

its not undertakers rule, its how they want his character to be feared, whats the point of having the tiny none wrestling anouncer not scared of him, but the big taleneted wrestler afraid of him?

if its true it does make sence to be in trouble for breaking character that bad. and if it did happen it was in front of a live crowd, as they seem to always do a little extra somehting after that crowd. and beating coach who as said gets major audiance heat its a thing thats a plus for the audiance.

and thinking hes going to get hurt is kind of ******ed, cause as mentioned before, hes taken plenty of finishers, and has even been in matches before.

while it may seem harsh to us, it could just be normal for the company

This thread is silly. They would never legitamtely hurt a commentator, even a poor standard one like Jonathon Coachman. Personally I thought Mick Foley could have done a good job as SD! commentator. He's an intelligent guy with a good, crisp voice, not to mention being a former wrestler (the ECW and Raw commentary teams both have these) who has little to do these days. I love Mick and it's a shame WWE don't see him as being as attractive as he used to be, although his appearance at the RR was enjoyable, he planted a preety good double arm DDT at one point.

Just as long as he didn't have to wear a suit like all the other commentators, that would be bizarre to say the least. Stick to the red and black coat, forever!:)
