John Tenta for the WWE Hall of Fame?

Hey everyone. Another member created a great thread about which deceased legend should go into the WWE HoF this year with names like Owen Hart and Randy Savage having been mentioned the most. I fully agree that both should get their due and get in. One name I've have never seen discussed before is John Tenta. He wasn't used right in WCW, with characters like Shark and Avalanche. When he first came into WWE, as Earthquake he was billed as this mega-monster who couldn't be stopped. If I remember the number correctly, he was billed as putting something like 50 men in the hospital. He entered in a program with Hulk Hogan and the Fed really got behind him. With what I've listed and everything else he did in his career, where does John Tenta fit in your eyes when it comes to being HoF worthy?

Yeah, that would be a good name to put in. He was a monster when he was with Dino Bravo and threatened Hogan for a good two years, even broke his ribs ;). Don't forget that he was tag champs with Typhoon as the Natural Disasters. Heck, even if you want to recognize him as Golga in the Oddities, you can add that to his resume. I know it sounds and looks cheesy, but I remember as a kid, the 'tremors' setup for the Earthquake I always found devastating. I wouldn't hesitate to put him in the HOF

This is a great idea. I didn't realize John Tenta wasn't in the Hall of Fame, he should definitely be in soon, this year would be a good year to put him in. He definitely deserves it.

There as thing saying they wanted to put a tag team in the hof y not put him in as part of the Natural Disasters because off the top of my head there really isn't any tag team I can't think of that isn't already part of the Hof or still wrestling

Seems like I generated buzz (since I mentioned Tenta first in that thread) I think he deserves to be in the HOF, he was managed by one of the greats in Jimmy Hart, he had a successful tag team with Tugboat/Typhoon. He was with Dino Bravo as muscle, he was main eventing with Hogan and Warrior when PPVs were only 4 a year. He was a constant and a decent heel, when he was in WCW I agree he wasn't used right but he was an important part of tag teams in the 90's and I believe he should be in the HOF at some point.

John Tenta is definitely a HOFer. He had a noteworthy WWE career, was involved in several memorable matches (though no masterpieces) and angles with Hogan, Warrior, Jake The Snake, LOD, Andre, Yokozuna and Money Inc. He did well in WCW for a bit, had a big following in Japan and always seemed to be one of the most respected guys in the locker room. I would probably put Rick Rude and the Big Bossman in before him, but Tenta absolutely deserves the nod.

You know, I totally missed that in the thread. I went back and looked at it and saw it twice, including someone quoting you. I don't know how I managed to miss that. I am glad that you did put his name in there. It's nice to see that we're all in agreement on this. As one poster pointed out, if they decide to induct him as part of The Natural Disasters, that would be cool too.

Demolition? British Bulldogs? Hart Foundation? Thats just three I can think of.

John Tenta is definately HOF worthy. His fued with Hogan back in 91 was simply brilliant.

I wouldn't be against Tenta going into the HOF. Obviously he won't be headlining a class, but he would be a worthy addition to a group of guys going in one year. He had a good career, headlined against Hogan (which was a massive deal at the time, especially when there were so few PPVs in a year), in a successful feud and was part of a tag-team in the Natural Disasters, who had a good run.

Although I am personally not a big fan of his work, "giant" wrestlers don't often entertain me, I can respect what he accomplished and would be fine with him being in a HOF class in the near future.

Tenta is as deserving as many, but not someone who goes in ahead of other deceased guys like Savage, Rude, Pillman and Davey Boy, maybe even Bossman and Bam Bam.

While WWE has this ridiculous bar on only one posthumous induction a year Tenta is going to wait. Several guys have died... deal with it and induct them, then it's done - sure the ceremony might not be as "upbeat" as others but most fans would rather see the right guys in there rather than guys who can show up to collect the honor themselves for the sake of it.

Tenta is a worthy guy for his unique Sumo background and the Hogan feud... but on balance he is also up against Vader, Bam Bam, Bossman, One Man Gang for that spot... Vader is a lock, Bam Bam and didn't get tag titles but arguably had better careers than Earthquake. I couldn't justify him going in ahead of any of those...

I don't think Tenta gets in and I'm not really convinced that he should be in. His one argument for this is that he had a major feud with Hogan, and headlined Summer Slam. I'm not convinced that should be enough to qualify to be in the Hall of Fame (which I fully understand is a made up, vanity piece for McMahon with no real rules for induction).

However, by that criteria, where is King Kong Bundy, The Twin Towers, or Vader? Hell, why not Zeus? Why not Dino Bravo? Why not Tugboat/Typhoon? At what point does someone NOT get into the Hall of Fame (other than pissing off McMahon)?

not as part of the natural disasters please no. cause ya know something would be brought up about wcw and unfortunatly typhoon had ummm the shockmaster? and no that should not be tied into anything having anything to do with john tenta. mAybe have typhoon induct him or have him inducted as part of the odditys. that way u could get luna and tenta in at the same time. perhaps, and honestly wouldnt it be interesting to see i.c.p. in tuxes?

They're going to end up inducting about everyone with slight relevance. Koko B. Ware is in. Nothing against him. But he's in.

Quit worrying about tag teams, matches, and deserving guys.

The WWE hall of fame doesn't contain macho man, Owen hart, or rick rude.

Drew Carey? They'll probably induct Maria Menounous. Fuck a hall of fame.
