Jimmy Snuka Murder Trial Looks To Be Over.

Navi

With the safety off!!
In a ruling today the judge in the Jimmy Snuka murder trial has deemed that he is incompetent to stand trial for the murder of Nancy Argentino over 30 years ago.

She listened to 4 days of expert testimony before making her decision. A forensic pathologist who examined Snuka found he his suffering from severe dementia and Snuka was unaware he was being charged with a homicide.

The case will be reviewed in 6 months to see if anything has changed with his condition, although defense lawyers have testified it will only decrease with age and time. So the state has two options, either drop the charges or keep bringing him back to court in the hopes that he can one day stand trial. The judge said this is what happens when justice is delayed. So the bottom line is he has not been found guilty or innocent because he can't stand trial to answer the charges.

The charges should be dropped and the case should be dismissed.

No use of even trying to review the case, let alone convict him simply because of his mental state and it's not going to get any better.

The guy was wrestling up until last year, but now he's not lucid or "competent" enough to stand trial for a murder he committed 30 years ago? Of course he isn't.

All I'm getting from this is that Snuka is basically still going to get away with the crime he originally got away with so long ago, and there will be no justice for the victim. They can keep up the charade and put him in a mental institution but everyone knows he's not going to get better, especially if he's suffering from oncoming dementia. So the charges will get dropped and a clearly guilty man who had control over all faculties at the actual time of the crime, will get away with killing his girlfriend.

Ah the justice system.

If Snuka really does have dementia, then they may as well just dismiss the charges altogether because he's not going to improve, especially at 73 years of age.

There's little doubt, at least for me, that Snuka actually committed the crime; the problem now is that Snuka is no longer legally capable of standing trial as he can't assist in his own defense. This is sometimes what happens when a trial is delayed for 30+ years: evidence winds up being lost, witnesses move away or die themselves, witness testimony can be unreliable due to mental deterioration or due to simply not being able to remember what they saw, testimony or evidence that may once have been valid is no longer legally sufficient due to various rulings by higher courts that have been made since the initial charges were brought, etc.

Yea this is pretty much how I see it too. The best chance they had of getting a conviction was when the crime happened all those years ago. Now they have probably very few witnesses left who can actually give testimony that won't be full of holes and half remembrances. There is no physical body to get evidence from, it will be long gone. Any evidence they did obtain at the time can be called into question for decontamination, if it even is still there, and the guilty party himself can't give testimony based on his own mental health being an issue.

I have no idea why they waited this long to bring these charges forward, it seemed like an open and shut case back then. Even if they didn't get a murder charge they could have gone for a lesser charge of manslaughter and he would have been held accountable for what he did.

Sort of saw this coming as soon as the charges where handed down, cold cases are so hard to solve. The best they can do now is wait for a deathbed confession so the family can have some closure. Maybe he will have a moment of clarity and at least give them that.

The bottom line here...

is that Jimmy Snuka can still work!

How do you get away with murder? Apparently you kayfabe a judge.

What's the over/under though that he does a shoot interview for a quick payday and blows all this?

This is a case that still gives me chills to this day. Maybe it's because I'm am (or WAS) a HUGE Jimmy Snuka fan as a kid. I didn't read about the gory details until after his MAIN WWF career was over after '92 but it's still shocking to read the way the girl was brutally beaten to death in a hotel room she shared with Snuka. Anyone reading the details of the case and the history of Jimmy Snuka's past domestic violence and substance abuse problems can intelligently come to the conclusion that he beat this girl to death. He is and was the only suspect interviewed by law enforcement and he claims "she fell and hit her head." Really, Jimmy.

The fact that McMahon covered this up. The fact that they continued to employ and bring back time and again a suspected murderer also gives me the chills. How could Stephanie McMahon justify the WWE bring back Snuka in the late 2000's is beyond me.

As far as I know, no wrestler's speak on the subject either. Everyone pleads the fifth. Was it because Argentino was a "rat"? They have no respect for her?

This case boggles the mind.

McMahon DID NOT cover this up. Rumors persist that McMahon told him not to speak English (obviously false). Even if that were true, you think the cops would go well this is hopeless, no one on the planet can translate for him so we give up. No, that's dumb. Of course the cops have translators. They don't give up because he doesn't speak English. Use some logic. This is a dumb rumor that falls apart if you think about it for two seconds instead of blindly believing everything you read. The cops did state that McMahon was very helpful and did everything they asked him to do (but hey why believe the cops when you can believe internet rumors).

No wrestler speaks on it because it doesn't involve them.

This. I don't care what his mental stability is, I really don't. This guy needs to be held accountable for his actions, actions that he was fairly coherent of committing in the time frame he did them in. The fact that they're pleading insanity, to me, just states that he did it. And if he's not going to be put in prison, then lock him up in a mental institution because clearly he's not fit to be in society.

You're fucking moron. What I meant by "covering up" is he continued to employ Jimmy Snuka even AFTER his girlfriend DIED under suspicious circumstances. I did not mention ANYTHING about not speaking English. You're the idiot. What language do you think Jimmy Snuka speaks?!? He was speaking ENGLISH in the WWF you fucking moron. He was ON VIDEO speaking and understanding English!!

I'm saying McMahon COVERED UP the fact that someone CLOSE to Snuka died under suspicious circumstances by not mentioning it and continuing to employ at WORST a suspected murderer and at BEST a woman beater!

While I agree with you, it's hard to put him anywhere without having some kind of hearing on it. Obviously they have found him unfit to stand trial, and that was from experts working for the prosecution not the defense.

If he committed the crime, then they should have arrested him right away and charged him. They still had the body and all the evidence and witnesses. 30 years later you have no body, evidence which is most likely tainted if there is any left at all, and as far as witnesses go, might not be any left. Memories fade and change over time, the ones who are left might not be that credible anymore. It's a shame this girl got no justice for what happened to her.

Usually when people refer to McMahon covering it up, they are referring to what I wrote about. It's a very popular rumor that drives me nuts. I'm guessing you haven't heard of it but if you had, you'd get why I thought that was what you were referring to.

All McMahon knows is he was cleared by police. While obviously guilty now, maybe it wasn't as obvious then. It's easier now because his story has changed so many times. McMahon isn't an investigator and probably didn't think about it after the police didn't press charges.

This trial is deader than a doornail. This was a cold case that someone from the Prosecutors' office tried to warm up with DNA evidence. Granted, he probably kayfabed his way thru the courtroom. However, if the State had any hard evidence 30 years ago, he would be in jail now. The problem is with all those shots to the head, he probably has significantly lower brain function. Whether he wrestled last year or last week is immaterial. Long-term head injuries are no joke. Indy star Kevin Matthews mentioned a recent meeting with Sabu, and Sabu did not even know where he was at that second! Tommy Dreamer forgets his own daughter's names. DBry has seizures. All three are far younger than Snuka. How do you think THEY will be at Snuka's age? This trial is done.

Reviewed in 6 months time to see if his condition improves? dementia can be slowed but it doesn't improve and suddenley get better! That's quite a strange call.... as other posts have alluded to, it will worsen over time.
It will only 'improve' as such if the defence laywers are over exaggerating the severity of it. Obviously he has taken numerous bumps to the head over the years- you wouldn't expect him to be 100% coherent.

If Snuka does get found guilty, just wait for WWE to erase him from their history.
If he is not 'proven innocent' if the case folds- then he legacy will still be tarnished
