Oh, of course, because when Austin kept suggesting to Bischoff and WCW bookers the very elements that would be Stone Cold Steve Austin, Bischoff was entirely against it. He didnt want some plain wrestler in black tights. But magically when Austin exploded in the WWF he comes out with Goldberg who shares a very similar APPEARANCE to Austin. No theyre not similar in their gimmicks, and Austin could actually wrestle where Goldberg was a one trick pony, but if you dont think Austins popularity influenced Bischoff and Goldberg then youre extremely short sighted.
Once again, the point wasnt that the look was original. Your arguing against a point no-one has made. The similarities end with the way they look. By your logic you could claim Austin came up with his look and demeanor by ripping off Bad News Brown. The whole "its ripped off" argument is redundant because no one company has ever had more than 50% of its ideas be original in the last 40 years. Fuck, even ECW ripped off Memphis with the hardcore shit - they just took it a little further. And yet, Heymans a genius and Bischoffs a chump. I don't feel that any of you are being objective to a large degree. Its disappointing to see so many people who clearly have some intelligence and some knowledge of the wrestling business being so obviously selective. You cant criticize one for something without criticizing others who are just as guilty just because he's "your guy". Sorry if you don't like but it smacks of bias to me. That goes for all of you.
As for Austin suggesting the character to Bischoff? I've heard the story of their dealings together 1000 times and I've never heard that part of it. Can you give me your source on that one? Please don't bother if it originates anywhere near WWF/E - they do nothing but bury WCW and anyone connected with it - so they're as reliable as a fart in the wind. Ironic though as most of the sports entertainment stuff is admittedly Bischoffs brain child - Tough Enough etc etc. For better or worse, its irrelevant, I don't hear anyone talking about Vince ripping that off?
At the very least, you can say this about Bischoff;
At least he fucking listened and learned from working with some very smart men in AWA.
