Jenks' view on what's holding TNA back.

Pre-Show Stalwart
People have a lot of different opinions about what's holding TNA back. A lot of people say it's the writing, a lot say it's the booking, some blame the older or ex WWE wrestlers, anyway those people may have a point but I'd like to point out a few things that I think are less discussed.

Most fans would like to see TNA leave the Impact Zone and hit the road, which I would like as well, but sometimes I don't see much difference visually between a road show and an Impact show.

To show you what I mean, I've gathered 3 videos. Each video is a wrestling event held in the Norfolk Scope in Norfolk, Virginia. The Norfolk Scope's max capacity ranges from 8,700 for a hockey game too 13,800 for a concert.

Just skim the videos and compare the size and visual appeal of each. At 1:10 or so of the Sting vs Flair video, it looks as if they are in a football arena, it gives you an idea of how big and grand the Norfolk Scope is.

WCW World War 3 1995: Attendance 12,000

After being shown the videos, I would of never guessed Destination X 2008 and World War 3 95' were held in the same arena.

Anyway, I know TNA has smaller crowds, but Smackdown holds shows in big arenas with 3-4k fans and the arena looks no different. Sure bigger crowds mean it will be louder, but we're talking about visual appeal.

For the cost, I don't think it's worth it for TNA to do these road shows until they can make these arenas and events look more "Grand." I don't think there is enough differential between the IZone and current road shows that their is a need for the cost.

I'll have more to discuss, but what are your thoughts? World War 3 and Raw look a hell of a lot better then Destination X, right?

Wrestling lost its appeal. And when older adults' little ones get into wrestling, odds are it is going to be WWE first instead of TNA. Older adults say age 25 to 35, will know what WWE is as it was around when they were there kids' age. TNA has been around for 10 years. Odds are, the parents are going to let there kids watch WWE as they might have more trust into said product since its been around for 50 or so years.

TNA just needs a way to make themselves bigger in the media market. They have appeal, a good show and great wrestlers. It is just not pushed as much as it should be. TNA doesn't have guys on Leno or anything like that. AT least as far back I can remember they haven't.

To me, I don't really sit there and pick apart TNA or WWE. I hav ethings that I don't like in both products; but I just don't watch it if I am not into it. One day TNA will get there and I really hope they do. TNA is a good wrestling company whether people want to accept that or not.
