James Ellsworth- The New 123 Kid?

It's nice that this guy is making a fat paycheck to take home to his family and to his promotion, but I really don't care to see more of him.

It really bothers me how the weirdest, dumbest stuff can get over sometimes, while perfectly solid talents can fall through the cracks. I hate that WWE is putting all this effort into getting an unsigned enhancement talent over ironically when they couldn't be bothered to do so for the guys who have actually been working there over the years. Why does this guy get to be the "man with two hands who has a fighting chance"?

Okay, we've had fun here. James strange appearance and comical enthusiasm have been a treat to watch. I welcome him warmly on my screen these past few weeks, and will likely do so for a few weeks to go.

But please, let's not beat this horse until it stops being funny. The last thing I want is for James to overstay his welcome. I do not want to see him occupy a main roster spot, because overexposed, Ellsworth doesn't have much longevity. In that sense, he's not a full timer, like 1-2-3 Kid.

If anything, he's Brock Lesnar.

Okay, not Brock, but a parody, and not in a Gillberg way. I'd love to see James used sparingly, with the schedule of a part timer. Use him selectively in programs where his unlikely presence adds value, like it does in this program like AJ/Ambrose. Perhaps next week he can help Dean beat AJ, but after that , I don't think I want to see him until the Rumble. Where, as was suggested in the LD, he can eliminate Braun Strowman by miraculous fluke.

But this is WWE. They will beat the dead horse. Expect a bidding war between Raw and Smackdown for Ellsworth's contract.

Come on, he is a lot more like Gillberg. 123 kid was incredeble in ring. He would have been a main eventer if hadn't made the jump. He did end up as a solid mid carder. Ellsworth is a comedy jobber at best.

No, not Cesaro or Zayn because they're too good for that. But over the years, WWE has had half a roster of jobbers that have come and gone. Why couldn't any of them have been booked the way that Ellsworth was booked, rather than being written off as expendable and then released?

I have really enjoyed the past few weeks with Ellsworth on smack down. Hearing the goldbergesque chants during the match, as well as the loud holy shit chants after the no chin music, it has been entertaining.

I just read a report saying James shirts are outselling the new Seth Rollins, Goldberg and Dean Ambrose ones, which is essentially a joke character. Hope they can somehow get hbk back in the ring for the rumble and have and no chin/sweet chin music spot.

A comedy jobber elminating Kane, show, strauman etc, that would be great too

I'm kind of shocked at the reaction and popularity that this goofy looking no name is getting on SD. He's getting the biggest reactions of the night, it's a weird underdog love people are having with this guy. Taking a J.B.L line and twisting it....

"If you were to build a wrestler from the ground up....it wouldn't look anything like Ellsworth!"

Absolutely Not! Sean Waltman is one if the greatest American based Lightweight talents the world has ever seen. He has had an HOF worthy career and has earned the respect and admiration of REAL wrestling fansand His peers alike. James Ellsworth represents the very worst aspects of Sports Entertainment IMO, He has relatively NO talent in or out the ring, He dosen't even have a great ability to control the mic but is somehow featured more than Superstars like Apollo Crews, Jack Swagger, The Ascension, The Vaudevillians, Breezango, Hype Bros, Ect... Actual WWE Superstars who desperately need this time to connect with the audience, therefore creating an overall more balanced show for the sake of all fans casual and hardcore alike.

While I can't blame Ellsworth for making the most of an amazing opportunity presented to Him... I can blame the WWE for continuously shoving Him down our throats, I can blame the casual and/or uneducated fan for blindly cheering and/or buying into the crap WWE presents to Us no matter how appalling and desperate They have become, and last I can blame the fans... like the person that created this thread because to compare a Legendary Hall of Fame Worthy Journeyman like Sean Waltman/The Lightning Kid/The 1-2-3 Kid/Syxx/X-Pac/SyxX-Pac to this special attraction clown is Disrespectful not only to the man Himself but to the wrestling business as a whole and its legacy. I mean this is a Man that has competed against the very best wrestlers in the world, has won titles all over the world and in virtually every company He has completed for. To compare Ellsworth to a Man of this caliber is beyond insulting.

Some of the other comparisons like the one for Hardcore Icon and ECW Legend Al Snow... are almost as insulting as the one hurled at Mr. Waltman Himself. Johnny Rodz was famous for jobbing but that is because He had an unique ability to put other Guys over... You know the main objective of a jobber, He went on to train the likes of Taz, Tommy Dreamer, Devon and Bubba Ray Dudley and even current WWE RAW Superstar Big Cass. So forgive Me if I find the comparison to be ludicrous. Jose Estrada, Barry Horowitz, Colin Delaney and Gillberg all four Men were decent enough workers IMO they just lacked that all too important "It" Factor (with the notable exception of Gillberg's comidic run to spite WCW and on a smaller scale Delaney's run in WWECW) but what they did have is the ability to put over better talent and string together a good/believeble match so... also a very bad comparison IMO.Zach Gowen, CheeseBurger, Rockstar Spud and El Torito/Mascarita Dorada maybe undersized underdogs but all very talented IMO with the ability to put on exceptional matches... also a dreadful comparison.

Where I think the GodAwful Ellsworth belongs is in the conversation with Little Boogeyman, Hornswoggle, Jason Sensation, The Gobbledy Gooker (not Héctor Guerrero who is awesome, but the vile character which He portrayed), David Flair (Thank God for Charlotte.), Former WCW Champion David Arquette. People that are not only in the talks for worst wrestling gimmick but People that on some level either set the business back a bit or did little to nothing to enhance the WRESTLING aspect of the show and seemingly only served to steal time from vastly more deserving talent and/or advance storylines that should have never existed to begin with.

I don't find Him to be entertaining, I don't think He can become a valuable asset to the company in the long run, I believe He is dragging down the show overall and stealing the all too precious time from more deserving talent. While again I can't knock His hustle, He IMO is terrible for business and should not be celebrated on any level.

We were sitting there watching Ellsworth slip under the ring. At first I thought he was hiding, but when he grabbed Strowman's foot and wouldn't let him back into the ring, priceless.

Up till then he hadn't done much, but it was truly one of the best spots of the night outside the ring action. He got a huge pop when he came out and seemed to be having the time of his life. Well that is until he was dumped through the table at the side of the stage. It was absolutely hilarious watching Strowman go up the ramp after him.

You've all heard of the Princess and the Pea, well Ellsworth is the pea. If they use him for stuff like that I'm fine with it.

Ellesworth has ZERO talent and no look to be a main roster guy. Even when The Kid was jobbing he at least looked decent and had moves.

The appeal of Ellsworth looks like it's really started to fade and WWE pulled the plug on his time in the main event spotlight in time. On SmackDown Live this past Tuesday, there were a decent amount of boos from the crowd; I'm guessing that those fans are tired of him, were worried that WWE might actually go through with making him champion or maybe a mixture of both.

It looks like he's now going to be in some sort of "relationship" angle with Carmella and my initial instinct is that this would be something more conducive to his abilities. Ellsworth is the physical embodiment of a mid-card comedy jobber, that's the only on screen role I can see for the guy because...well it just seems like a role he was born to play. Think about it: he's got to be considered among the least physically intimidating wrestlers to ever set foot in a WWE ring, he's demonstrated virtually no in-ring ability and he has zero credibility as an in-ring talent considering that AJ Styles took him out with a small handful of strikes.

Use him for a little comic relief here and there, don't shove him down anyone's throats while doing it as it'll probably increase his shelf life. If/when people get tired of him in this role, quietly release him or shift him to work in some sort of backstage role.

I have to agree JH, him going for the gold is pretty well over before it started really. He had beaten the WWE Champion 3 times, with help admittedly and a lot of shenanigans along the way. Part of me can't help but think if he wasn't going up against Styles the response on Tuesday would have been perhaps a little different.

With the Rumble and Mania quickly approaching I can understand them pulling him back a bit. It's time to get a little serious here, and I'm sure fans who spent thousands of dollars to attend Mania, don't want to see James Ellswoth except maybe as he flies out of the ring in the ATGBM. Where he goes from here remains to be seen, but his time in the main event picture appears to be finished.
