You should find some songs that aren't from trendy bands. That way, you won't suck.

This is the first part you fucked up on. If your going to be a good band, you have to have your own songs. 5000 people you say? Yeah, not liking your chances. Cancel, and make your own songs, don't copy.

And it's pretty easy. Just think of a chord progression, and base your song around that.

i know the fundamentals of song writing and considering this is our first gig as a band and we have had 1 proper practice i doubt we will be writing our own songs from the start. i dont know how it works where you guys/girls live but where i live unless uve been around for a while nobody wants to hear your own songs, you have to play what they want 1st then you earn their respect. i know that from 1st hand experience

i wouldnt say random. i dont sing personally but UK/U.S alternative/indie stuff is best. our singer sings like the singer from arctic monkeys

Try singing a killers song. why? I don't really know.

Actually, a Killers song is good. I'd say Human or Mr Brightside.

arctic monkeys - im not a huge fan but there ok. they're massive (no seriously, i mean massive) in the uk i dont think they have managed to get a break outside of here. killers is good, smile like you mean was thrown about (another local band do mr brightside)
