Is "X-Pac Heat" Justified?

Stein Lager

Current WWF Champion
As far as i can tell, this all began around 2001. Whats the story? He could wrestle well, right? I recently watched the 2001 Summerslam in which he and Tajiri put on a solid, entertaining bout. All throughout the early Attitude Era, (mostly) everyone loved him and he put on (mostly) fantastic matches. Was this all because a certain "private" video tape featuring him and Chyna?

Whats your opinion of Sean Waltman and/or "X-Pac Heat"?

I think the release of One Night in Chyna was well after people got sick of X-Pac.

I always understood X-Pac Heat to mean hating someone for who they seemed to be in real life as opposed to hating their wrestling character. Although it seems like he has grown up a bit over the past few years, I always saw X Pac as a guy who could perform well enough but seemed to be a giant douche. From the way he talked, his greasy hair and that he seemed to keep getting work because of his buddies backstage he just seemed like he was a giant douche and no one that I wanted to get a piece of the money that I spent on a ticket.

It's probably not justified since I thought he was a decent performer and I really didn't know the man personally but it is just how I felt.

Waltman always reminded me of Gary Burghoff, the guy who played "Radar" on M*A*S*H. I read that the cast and crew loved the character of Radar, but hated Burghoff because he erroneously thought of himself as a big star who should have received top billing alongside Alan Alda. In truth, he was a smarmy little man with delusions of grandeur who was never content to be a part of an otherwise genial ensemble of actors.

All this reminds me of Sean Waltman, who vastly overrated his worth to tWWE and reportedly made such a pain in the ass of himself to management that they felt it not worth keeping him around, despite his usually effective performances in the ring.

Love X-Pac......hate Waltman.

The X-Pac heat was X-Pac being put in matches for no apparent reason, and winning almost all of them

No story behind the matches, etc

Xpac heat is awesome. I don't even fucking know how people can differentiate Xpac heat from heat heat. It's great. 95% of the roster would kill for a reaction and interaction like xpac's.

Xpac Heat = Vickie Guererro Heat = Heat! Heat! Heat!

Latino Heat perhaps. But I don't have any problem with someone getting as strong as a reaction as Xpac. It means the audience cares. Which is the only thing that matters.

That term came way before then.

And it's a bullshit term, period. X-Pac got major heat because he was a great heel, bottom line. It's not like he was a face and got booed out the building. Every time he was a face the fans loved him, but when he was a heel? They hated the squirmy little fuck.

The dude was simply a fantastic professional wrestler. Pound for pound an all time great, in my book.

I wouldn't go as far as fantastic but I remember him from his skits and feud with Kane and Tori was it? When Tori suckered Kane and turned heel.

Basically I was a huge Kane mark and X-Pac was almost always there around him during the 99/00 period. X-Pac played his role well. I don't really remember any of his matches and only came to know X-Pac heat after I joined the WZF.

No, x-pac was a very skilled in-ring performer even going back to his 1-2-3 kid days. I think x-pac heat does exist, and there are guys you boo where you can't chalk it down to them being a good heel. I would boo New Jack if he was a heel, but not because he was a heel.
