Is TNA becoming ECW?

Getting Noticed By Management
They have brought in Steven Richards and are debuting Shane Douglas and Raven soon. Is this a sign of TNA trying to replicate the old ECW? Douglas hasn't wrestled for a major company since 2003. Raven left TNA to start a wrestling school and now hes back. He's a bit past his prime and I have a feeling both men will be wasted. Is this a sign that they are trying to become like the old ECW ? Thoughts ?

not technically the Old ECW, i say more WCW they are bringing the established names in to help strengthen the roster and bring in more punters (Fans) to give their brand something unique, the fact is douglas and Raven cant really do anything For TNA like they had done before, Raven is in pretty much aweful shape, Stevie is doing his new role as an insane psychiatrist which i think works well IMO, Daffney and stevie paring would be awesome IMO, with stevie being the mouthpiece and all, but the fact is TNA's ratings wont increase with all this old ECW mainstays coming into the company, Douglas is not really anything without the words fuck and Flair and Hogan being used in his promos, Raven the other hand just cant go past the hardcore and actually make himself something more in regards to being a world champion.

Will this boost TNA's ratings....No

Will it recreate the Old ECW...No

Will it show something the fans have seen a dozen times over...Yes

Beneficial i think not

Solid thread, but TNA needs to make it's own mark with it's own brand of superstars. Like HDJ said, TNA's becoming more of a WCW than old ECW. The fans simply aren't as loud as the ECW crowds. They try to run a sort of controversial show at Universal Studios. Where kids play. It doesn't work well when tourists are the big attraction to a theme park. What TNA needs is a building in that area to itself, like the ECW arena. That would help a lot more than using a theme park. There are plenty of convention centers or old buildings around the Florida area.

But hiring Shane Douglas and Raven is only for purposes of name recognition and to help groom younger talent. Victoria's hire is baffling. She's still sexy, but is 35 years old. I figured she was done with wrestling all together. But no, TNA's not becoming ECW. It's trying to get some more name recognition.

actually, douglas with the foul language could work for TNA, seeing that its not a PG rated show, and they could just *bleep* him out like they do to several other wrestlers like that neanderthal big poppa pump

TNA can't leave Universal they have a 10+ year contract or something along those lines. I live in Orlando and I asked someone who works for Universal this. Anyway I guess hiring Raven and Shane Douglas isn't a bad idea it depends on the roles TNA plans on using them. I could see Douglas as a mouthpiece for the Main Event Mafia if I didn't think Sting becoming the new leader wasn't going to be the downfall of the Mafia. Douglas's hiring timing baffles me. Whoever said Douglas is nothing without his foul language or Hogan or Flair is right though. As far as Raven he is way past his prime so he better just be a backstage trainer like Steamboat does for the WWE. Victoria is just an addition to the knockout division. I heard TNA is considering bringing back Buff Bagwell as well so there may be some merit to your WCW theory.
