Is there a future WWE World Heavyweight Champion in the making in NXT right now?

We can all say that there is some spectacular wrestling talent on NXT. But there's more to it than that once you reach the main roster. The WWE stresses the fact that NXT is the future but it's tough to find a talent who has the whole main event package. Is there a future champion in the making in NXT right now? What do you think?

Well, considering WWE are intending to bring all future talent up through the ranks of NXT, I think its pretty redundant to ask if any will be champ.
But in the spirit of the thread, yeah, there is a lot of talent down there. Devitt and Steen aside, you still have people like Sami Zayn, Mojo, Tyler Breeze and Adrian Neville. Not the biggest guys in the world, but that seems to be the norm at the moment. Those 6 are probably the brightest singles wrestlers at the moment, so I assume at least one or two will be champ at some point.
And I intentionally didnt include Kenta, despite his obvious talents, because I don't think that Vince would put a non-English speaker on top, and his track record with Japanese wrestlers is pretty sketchy.

I don't think there is an obvious name. Given there is only one World Title, there are going to be fewer opportunities. I would have said Big E and Seth Rollins had the potential to be World Champs when they were in NXT but this current group doesn't have a stand-out talent. That doesn't mean, however, there isn't good talent.

There are some very good tag-teams with interesting gimmicks. Tyler Breeze and Adrian Neville are both decent and Sami Zayn is magnificent. Unfortunately, I wouldn't predict that Breeze, Neville or Zayn can become the champ. Anything can happen but I wouldn't say it was likely.

Is this a bad thing? Maybe but you can't expect to produce top guys every single year. The fact that the three Shield guys and Bray were all in NXT/developmental at a similar time is amazing but that standard cannot be replicated. Kind off like Cena/Brock/Orton/Batista but to a lesser extent.

Out of all the current crop in NXT, the only guys who actually have the potential to become future WWE World Champions, well there's Kevin Steen and or Prince Devitt or even Sami Zayn

I say Sami has the best chance. But only in the catch lighting in a bottle kinda way that Daniel Bryan had.... he is too small to really be a major threat to the bigger guys for a long period of time. Also obviously Steen and Devitt have the chance to be big... but not face of the company big....

I think it will be awhile until you get a foursome of Wyatt, Ambrose, Rollins, and reigns (even add Rusev maybe to that list) all at once in NXT then up to main roster.

but they do have some talent down there and should be working on putting some of them in tag teams and forming teams that have lasting appeal like the Ascension.... put Neville, Breeze, Sami, mojo (who I think is so raw and terrible at this point), or any of them and leave them together and see what happens.... WWE needs more tag teams to compete and make a division hot again.

Let's see. The title changes will go like this for the next 10 years:

Brock Lesnar > Roman Reigns > Seth Rollins > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Roman Reigns > John Cena > Triple H > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > Batista > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Roman Reigns > John Cena > Roman Reigns > John Cena > Randy Orton > Hulk Hogan > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena > Randy Orton > John Cena

So unless Kevin Steen and Sami Zayn can break that pattern, I'll probably say no.

.

Devitt and Kenta would appear to be a "step up" but the reality is that there is no clear cut "guarantee" in the way Ambrose, Rollins and Bray appear to be... those 3 will get the belt at some point and it has been clear since NXT... Reigns not so much but you could see it happening. Of the current crop only really Neville has that, not that I think he'll ever be the face of the company per se... but as the UK becomes important to them they will throw us that bone... there is still the "need" for a UK Title holder at some point, even if it's just to sell a tour or event. I can see them doing something with Barrett when the network launches if he's fit but if not Neville has the all round look and skills, even if he is a little shorter than they'd like. He and Barrett could form a team/stable very easily and then feud over the title to guarantee a big gate at a stadium, they could easily fill out St. James in Newcastle (Neville's home town) or one of the Manchester ones for Barrett and there is always the 02.

Zayn, Crowe have potential... Can't ever see Breeze, Rawley or any of the others getting to that level though...

How about Kevin Steen? How is no one not even suggesting Kevin Steen as a future WWE World Champion because he has been making his name on the Indy scene but also he has the size to be a future WWE World Champion but does he have the charisma or the wrestling ability to back it up?

This^^^, If guys like Seth Rollins(cause of look) or Reigns and Big E(size) were still in NXT I would say them, but no one down in NXT has the potential to be World champion.
Don't get me wrong I enjoy Neville, Breeze, and can't wait to see Kenta in NXT, but none of them has the look or size to say this guy is a future World champion.
Who knows maybe if one of them could create a successful gimmick (like the wyatts) and get it over, they could possibly become champ but as of now I see none in NXT that has World heavyweight champion potential.

Although I really want this to happen and Steen to be the face of the company, I still don't believe for as long as Vince lives, there will be a Indy scene guy as the TRUE Face of the company. I don't mean punks or Bryan's 15minutes of fame, (well for punk is more then that). Vince will always look for that football NCAA type guy who may have some family ties and was groomed IN WWE his whole career (rock, cena, eventually resigns)

It's hard to say at this time since we do not know how well they will do on the main roster when they get there. Going by the current NXT roster, the one that immediately comes to mind is Sami Zayn. Most of the others currently in NXT might not make it further than the Intercontinental or US Championship. It would be different if WWE still had two World Championships but in today's WWE it will be much harder to make it to the World Heavyweight Championship. Adrian Neville and Tyler Breeze are both cool but I don't see them making it to the top on the main roster. Zayn is the only one on NXT at the moment who even comes close to having main roster World Heavyweight Championship push potential. I could be wrong though, we'll just have to see how well the NXT guys do if/when they get promoted to Raw/Smackdown.
