Is the WWE tag team division actually in a good position

Over the past few weeks we have seen the tag team division seem like it is slowly beginning the road to recovery back to the position it was it the attitude era. However if we look at the match which is supposed to be the one that began the recovery The Shield vs The Rhodes on Raw what you see is 4 very talented guys and 2 great teams however neither team is a long term team.

The Rhodes brothers will compete at Wrestlemania so they have no more than 6 months as a team and considering the buildup that match needs they may only have 4 months left.

The Shields breakup seems imminent with a string of losses building up, it could be the perfect time to end the group and if that happens my belief is that Reigns turns face and Rollins stays heel, however even if this losing streak doesn't bring an end to the Shield they may not still be active by Mania.

This means the 2 biggest draws and best teams of the tag team division and the guys doing the work to build the division will leave it.

And they will leave it to
The Uso's - No Titles so far but do look a very good team with lots of potential
Los Matadores - The sooner they are repackaged back to Primo and Epico the sooner the division gets a good long term team
PTP - A good team with a good, fun gimmick but reports are suggest O'Neill might go solo as he has limited time left in his career
The Wyatt Family - A good gimmick if they had better opponents, I cant see the gold helping them in anyway and I cant see why there gimmick would suggest they want it
3MB and Tons of Funk - The heel and face jobbers of the division

This means despite the revival of the division and big matches they have put on the division really isn't in as good of a position as it seems and it is being built up to be left in the hands of the Uso's, PTP, Matadores and Wyatt's which to me will make it even more irrelevant than it ever was.

There is the Real Americans as well of course.

I would say the division is in good shape, better than it has been for years (ignoring the couple of months last Autumn). It has been good to see the tag title picture featured in the main event match slot of the past couple of RAWs, something that I don't think would of happen since Cena/HBK verses Rated RKO...

Adding a combo like Gabriel/Kidd would be cool to see and maybe introduce them as heels so they can oppose Los Matadores once they have finished with the Real Americans. Going into Survivor Series I wouldn't mind seeing Usos/Rhodes and Miz against the Wyatts and Real Americans.

I forgot about the Real Americans but they are in the same position as the Rhodes and the Shield, they should be singles guys. Swagger and/or Cesaro involved in the WHC feud over the Autumn would have made that title interesting. I have also only included established teams so while Kidd/Gabriel would be a good team until it happens I will not count them as a team

I heard that they were seriously thinking about putting Kidd/Gabriel together on TV in the next couple of weeks.

In my view the division could do with one more heel team. Preferably, for me personally I would like to see The Shield in 6-man tags against established stars for a short time before they go their separate ways.

Admittedly, the jury is still out on The Rhodes being a team for a long period of time, but how do you figure The Shield isn't one?? They've been together for almost an entire year. That's long term by today's standards.

How do you know for sure that they are?

Pure speculation.

As mentioned, there is also The Real Americans while teams like Marella & Khali could still be going on and R-Truth & Miz is definitely not out of the question.

I get that teams like Los Matadores, 3MB, and Tons of Funk aren't everyone's cup of tea, but they are still tag teams that people enjoy seeing. I wouldn't count any of them out of ever obtaining tag team gold. It's not like there have been worse champions.

You have to be joking. Even if there were only 4 teams, that's a shitload better than what the division looked like from 2 years ago. Now that we see a steady flow of teams, you think it's some illusion?

I think that the tag team division is at a good place right now. The Usos not having a title reign yet in the wwe is something that I personally want to see changing in the near future as they are a great tag team.

Cody Rhodes and Goldust are the current tag champions and are doing big things with the titles IMO winning a triple threat tag team match at HIAC made them look stronger.

I wouldn't say the division at the moment is amazing but its still worth watching considering the teams that are in it like The Real Americans with Zeb Coulter, PTP, Los Matadores with El Torito, The Shield, The Usos, The Wyatt Family, 3MB, Brodus Clay and Sweet T and of course the current tag team champions The Rhodes. There is of course room for improvement in the tag team division but it is in a good position right now IMO.

It's definitely seen it's worse days. I'm satisfied with the division at the moment. I would add a few more teams to the mix. Guys who are going nowhere could be used so much better as tag teams. Bring back International Air Strike (Kidd/Gabriel), The Awesome Truth (Miz/R-Truth), and Rey Mysterio/Sin Cara when they're healthy.

I think Cody and Goldust should remain champs until Royal Rumble when Goldust turns on Cody to set up a match at WM30. I would have them drop the belts to either The Real Americans or The Wyatt Family.

Then at WrestleMania, I'd have a 6-team ladder match. Real Americans vs. The Usos vs. Wyatt Family vs. Prime Time Players vs. Awesome Truth vs. take your pick (Int'l Air Strike, Los Matadores, Mysterio/Sin Cara, 3MB, Tons of Funk)

Imo, The Usos or Prime Time Players should finally get their time to shine at Mania and get a long overdue title reign.

If Jericho and Christian are back by that time, maybe even throw them into the mix to get some more interest from the fans. They used to make a really good team.

Barrett could benefit from being in a tag team also.

I'm not forgetting Rollins and Reigns. I think The Shield will be going their separate ways by the time Mania rolls around.

I suppose even if Shield and the Rhodes' break up, they could always bring up Ascension, maybe also Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady to the main roster. They would provide a bit of strength in depth for the division.

It's nice to see tag team wrestling being more prominent on WWE TV, because before Team Hell No had the belts, the division was a joke and the E has done a great job of stabilising and then vastly improving the level of competition.
