Is Santino Marella destined to be a Comical Jobber forever?

Santino Marella WAS funny. Having him get beat up by girls isn't funny. It was a nice touch to see him in a 'mankini'...but this gimmicks on it's last legs. When was his last wrestling match? Can't remember it? Me neither. I'm talking a LEGIT one on one or tag team match without the Divas. Beth Phoenix is being dragged down by this, too. She went from being dominant, to being sort of a mom to Santino.

Santino will eventually be given his walking papers because most comic gimmicks run their course. Goldust, the Godwins, and the Bushwhackers are a few WWE examples. I would love to see Santino go to TNA's X Division. He'd have a character makeover, and be a great wrestler. He's a legit Martial Artist and can hold his own in mat wrestling. We see glimpses of it in a few of his early matches with Umaga. But he won't be a comic jobber forever. He'll eventually be 'wished well on his future endeavors'

Another great example of wasting talent, great job WWE...least Santino will be remembered having the fastest elimination in the Royal Rumble, and potentially becoming the first man to win the WWE Womens Championship.

It pathetic what creative is doing for this guy. I always had sympathy for guys like Dreamer..I didnt find him too talented but doing stuff like "drinking Takers tobacco spit" is wrong (youtube it guys, lol)..but now i think im gonna sympathize with Santino: the glorified comical jobber...

Following WrestleMania it's obvious that he's not going to get serious any time soon. He's fucking Miss WrestleMania. That says it all. They'll do a nice little storyline with that for a while, and then he'll go back to doing nothing.

He's lost Beth now, so Glamarella is gone. Where does he go? Do they turn him serious? I honestly doubt it. He's hilarious, but they need to find a balance for him. He's got an athletic background. Show that off, otherwise Santino will leave. I'm sure he's not happy doing what he's doing forever, and he'll want to get serious and win titles soon.

I agree. How can you take him seriously in general. It isn't bad, I actually think it is good for him. When he was somewhat serious he was boring and seemed like he was on the verge of getting cut, but as this Santino he might be in the WWE for years. Kind of like Goldust, except if he screws up he might be done because his dad isn't a HOFer.

I would certainly push him to feud for one of the women's titles.

I don't know the first thing about who even carries it at this point because I rarely if ever follow womens wrestling and generally fast forward through their matches when I replay RAW, Smackdown, or TNA broadcasts – but either way, having "Santina" feud with the Divas could really push him back into the spotlight again – a place he belongs if you ask me.

it could be interesting if santin0 got drafted to smackdown and santina stays on raw and feuds with Beth. That is if they are serious about doing this, it could give it some legitimacy, but i doubt it.

I have never liked Santino, and have never made it a secret. Since his character first debuted, he's been a waste. He's never done anything remarkable, and has never made me feel like I need to watch his segments. He even made me change the channel when Piper was on TV.

When the Battle Royal started at WrestleMania, I not only didn't care about the match, but I almost changed the channel, because I couldn't stand that he had a part. If Santino was a waste, then Santina is the reason euthanasia should be legalized. If it was so bad I had to watch, then I could understand the WWE leaving it on TV. The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust filled that role.

This is so awful that I'm willing to watch Charmed instead.

as of late, santino is the only reason i watch raw. i think wwe should keep his comedic character but also give him plenty of ring time...remeber back when goldust and booker t were a tag team?goldust had plenty of funny segments and also got in-ring time so i guess they should do the same to santino...they can have him could a funny promo int he beggining of the show and later have a match wich and even have a steady feud, but whatever...apparently, he's destined to be a jobber

i can see santino making a turn soon probly after glameralla is done and making he snaps and kicks some other jobbers ass and then goes to win the us title and haves a good title reign and maybe in the draft for next year he can go to ECW and become a champion there after being their for 2 or 3 months

in the end i just wanted to show some love for santino and i do hope he gets a new gimmick soon

Santino is heading for the inevitable "best wishes for your future endeavors." route. Let's face it. Eugene was funny too, and he was over with the crowd, not to mention he actually got to show some ring work and won a few matches, where is he now ? Comedy gimmicks have a short shelf life, unless they repackage drastically like they did with Helms, Santino is headed to the unemployment line very soon.

Is Santino even funny anymore? I've barely laughed at him all year outside of his mention of Jack Tunney (which was no-sold by the live crowd). I feel Santino has jumped the shark and simply become a jobber.

Santino is comical and can talk. But can't work in the ring at all. It must take a lot of work if your his opponent and have to get him over in the ring.

Santino is getting stale. He's not funny anymore, And his segment at BackLash will be the only time I won't be watching it. The only way Santino WONT be a jobber for life, Is if he is given a complete character overhaul. He doesn't show anything in the ring to make me think he could be more than a IC champion. The guy hasnb't been funny since the Honkytonky meter, And then that got the pull after about 6 weeks, To someone who isnt on TV at the minute.

He need's a parnter/Manager to turn his career around, And become something more than a wet sponge.

It's an old move from the old WWF days made famous by talented wrestlers like Steve Lombardi and Barry Horowitz. This finisher basically consists of lying flat on one's back and pretend to be dead. It's called "The Possum" I believe.
