Occasional Pre-Show
With the future of ECW's TV deal in question, why not boost ratings by showcasing Mick Foley on the show? Mick can work the mic and he can wrestle extreme rules better than anyone. Mick could be used either as a heel or as a face. Two possibilities could be Mick being a heel and feuding with Dreamer with the end result being a extreme rules match. Or, Mick and Dreamer could fight for the legacy of ECW against Burke and maybe Benjamin which would also end in a extreme rules match. Either way, Mick Foley being on ECW can only help the brand.

I agree they should do something like Foley vs Dreamer, but it should be something more hardcore than an extreme rules match. Like a weapons steel cage match.

I dont think people really care much to see Mick Foley anymore. He has no connection with the crowd anymore, or atleast not like he did before. I think it would bring ratings up just for a very short time - 2 weeks max.

Mick has already expressed that his body's not able to take much more, so if he were to be on ECW his role would more than likely have to be something to do with managing. Mick Foley and Armando Estrada fighting for the GM position could be interesting, but probably boring.

Has anyone read Hardcore Diaries? His contract says he only needs to wrestle ant either 1 or 2 ppvs a year (I cant remember) and have like 2 other non-wrestling ppv apperances and thats it....with a couple RAW showings (like he did in WWE Idol) He wont come back as a full timer, or a part timer....hes a rare attraction now.:(

how could you let these real true originals go? sandman!?!? god lets get things back to normal and get rid of big daddy fatass and get foley and others then bring back hardcore wrestling and foley can recreate the hardcore belt

hardcore wrestling is a must!

Since ECW is in danger of losing its contract, they're doing this "switch-off roster" deal with Smackdown, as we all know. What I think is going to happen with this is that they'll realize how much more flexibility they have with only 2 brands and they'll actually welcome the drop-out. ECW's dead already, so it would be a mercy killing. When they do this, the only question is whether or not they'll keep "the ECW championship" or if they'll convert it to the Hardcore title defended on both brands. As it stands right now, both Raw and Smackdown have a main title (WWE/WHC), a secondary title (IC/US), a tag team (WWE/World), and a "miscellaneous title" (Women/Cruiserweight). Though the Cruiserweight and Women's division titles can switch between brands, it isn't likely, so I think they'd bring back the Hardcore title and keep it from being exclusive. Plus, if they adopt some updated rules, it would help the TV ratings because you could tell that something could happen at any time. Now, I'm not too big of a fan of the 24/7 rule, but I wouldn't mind seeing it toned down to more of a "TV title" stipulation where its on the line whenever they're doing a TV broadcast.

Foley's lost his edge with the fans, since the ones old enough to enjoy him like me (I'm 20 now, and I was most into wrestling from 96-99, so I lived through his Mankind days and so forth) are slowly being outweighed by the younger crowd (Cena's fans, anyone? Haha). Unfortunately, that's what would prevent him from "saving" ECW, which is far too deep into the quicksand to be pulled out without dragging down the rest of the federation.

See Foley cant get over as much as Stone Cold becasue much of his appeal lay in the fact that he could take bumps like no other and just got pounded and got back up(he was a Rocky kind of guy) Once you cant wrestle he has only his mic skills(even though they are better than half the roster) can only get him so far. Stone Cold has a catchpharse that is still used years after he basically retired, and can stun someone and give a beer bash in like 2 minutes. Mick Could have saved it 3-4 years ago but now no way he would end up crippled

Great idea. I don't think we are going to see Mick Foley in any sort of active wrestling position, but he could definitely be used to up the ratings in other ways.
Why not use him for the GM? He was awesome on RAW and would be just as good on ECW. With a GM position you would see him every show and a lot during the show.
I think thats what they need to do with ECW from now on. I know the ECW purists would disagree with me, but at the moment ECW does not have enough quality talent to stay on TV. Doing the swap thing with Smackdown is a good idea but I think rather than that they should be putting some older talent or ppl like Foley who's been out for a while as there is just not enough top line stars and ppl don't want to see second rate stars.

The people who would tune in for Mick Foley are the same people who would tune in for the original ECW. He doesn't bring in the new generation of fans, and the old generation has given up on ECW as it is.

Exactly what they are doing is what would "save" ECW, having them switch on and off with Smackdown. The "brands" by themselves have created a watered down product that's just not appealing. If storylines crossed all three brands I would imagine that ratings would start to pick up. One guy going on one show won't really help much, especially if it's an older out of touch wrestler who doesn't wrestle anymore.

I think mick foley will come to ECW and save it from coming off air.Astrada should get fired from ECW GM and let MICK FOLEY to become new ECW GM so he can mak terrific hardcore all extreme matches!

ECW is just not ECW under WWE. Although I didn't watch it before it went bankrupt and was full on hardcore, it was a hundred times better then than it is now. I think they need to make this show more hardcore, cos at the moment its worse than Sunday Night Heat lol. So, more real violence and brutality, and bringing in wrestlers who have the balls to do it could be the saviour of ECW, not Mick Foley, even though he IS God!

He is NOT GOD!! Jesus Christ I hate Foley's legacy. Just because he has the uncanny ability to bleed more than every other superstar in history, he's great. Fuck that!!! There is nothing hot about Foley. He has been fired and brought back and retired and brought back for the last 7 years and each time I see him I just get more and more pissed. He got his ass massacred in a Hell in a Cell by taker and he suddenly get's immortalized. He got electricuted and jumped into barbed wire in Japan and did a bunch of other dumb shyt! Foley couldn't save ECW.....He would be the perfect messiah for that Jack-Ass spin off show, Dr. Steve-o...Damn I hate Mic Foley

Your being harsh on Foley there mate. He is a legitimate legend, he worked his arse off to get himself to the WWE. He would stay and talk to fans after matches and he helped to make new stars (Triple H, The Rock, Randy orton) even when he was not a major star himself.

See, you're just a guy that completely doesn't understand the business at all.

Mick Foley is a ring general. He's so damn good, he doesn't need to be the main event guy. People like to call Foley a glorified stunt monkey. Why? Because the guy has an uncanny ability to sell and take punishment from another he's no good. Foley sells injuries like no other, and it makes the guy dishing it out that much better.

Look at the list of guys in the WWE that owe a shit load to Mick Foley.

The Undertaker: Foley brought him out of the slow, no selling, gothic undertaker. Only after his feud with Foley did the Undertaker become more violent, begin to use the mic, and his matches not become the same thing night after night. People seem to forget, Taker was pretty average at best in the ring until his feud with Foley.

Steve Austin: Austin has no one to feud with to legitimize his world title. Who steps up to the plate, Mick Foley as Dude Love. Foley goes out there and hangs with Austin, making him look tough as hell in his first months as champion.

The Rock: My God does anyone else owe more to one man then the Rock owes to Foley. The Rock was an unwatchable asshole in much of 1998 and 1999. It wasn't until his feud with Foley that people began to take him as a serious main eventer. Hell, I said it and still do to this day, putting the belt on the Rock in 1998 was the biggest mistake the WWE may have ever made. The guy didn't earn it, and wasn't ready for the title. In their feud in early 1999, Mick made the Rock into a legit main eventer. Plus, Mick made the Rock into an enjoyable face during the Rock and Sock Connection.

Triple H: Take back what I said about the Rock, this guy owes his entire career to Mick Foley. Triple H wins the King of the Ring, and Mick Foley makes him look good the entire time. The cage match at SS 97 made HHH a legit mid carder, where before he was simply a curtain jerker. Triple H didn't deserve te title in 1999, and his feud with Mick Foley in early 2000 turned him into the game we all know today. Without Mick Foley making Triple H look good in the Streetfight and Hell in the Cell, we would be talking about the Game as a Finesse guy, not a legit bad ass capable of taking people out.

Randy Orton: The Legend Killer. Yup, really good to be a legend killer when you're beating up guys like Harley Race or others 20 years into retirement. Mick Foley was retired from active wrestling, and if it wasn't for him coming out of retirment and lying on his back for Randy Orton, no one would give a shit about Randy Orton today.

If you want me to go on, I can. I'll talk about the guys he made look good in WCW and ECW, or how about reviving the career of Terry Funk for one last run? Mick Foley always has, and always will be one of the most, if not most, under appreciated guy in this business.

The New ECW is custom made for a guy like Foley to be a GM, or maybe come out of retirement and carry the title for 6 months to legitimize it. People that bash Mick Foley simply don't understand the business.
