Is It More Acceptable To Be A Fat Samoan?

Yokozuna is probably considered a legend, despite having a short run, not being great and being a bit dull. Umaga is good, but he has a dated gimmick and he hasn't got a look that works when it comes to a big match like at WrestleMania 23.

Mabel/Big Daddy V is widely regarded as being the worst King Of The Ring of all time. Apparently he didn't deserve it. He beat The Undertaker and he's been proven to have a longer shelf life than Savio Vega. Nobody really likes the main eveent of WrestleMania 2. Looking back you can't help but think they could have put on something better. But is he really worse than Yokozuna?

Just a couple of examples there for you all.

tbh Big Daddy V looks bigger than all the other guys mentioned, so I dunno it might just be the fact that he was bigger.

The One thing i hated about Big Daddy V was the boobs, man if he only put on a shirt or something, maybe be more like one man gang, then i would say fine push the guy, but those things where huge, bigger then most 40 year old women and that aint a compliment!

As for the Samoans you forgot guys like Joe, Rock when he first came about he was considered bigger and well fatter until he got his stomach stapled, you cant say that everyone was that bad...

Bundy served his purpose and that was just to be fodder to the legacy that was Hulkamania so he looked scary at the time

Even in that regard, Samoa Joe is a pretty big guy. He's definitely not a monster, but I would say if we broke it down, he would fall into the 'fat' category faster than the 'lean' or 'muscular.' His skills may transcend that of the typical big guy, but he's still physically a fat samoan.

And I think another guy who is notable in this conversation on the non-Samoan side is Bam Bam Bigelow. His main event match with LT was almost unwatchable, but I'd say the rest of his career was definitely something he could have been proud of. He was a fantastic wrestler given his size. He had a good look, a good character, and just looked absolutely vicious, like he would legitimately kill you. He had a shortlived WWE push in his finals of the 93 KotR against Hart, but really shined in his abilities when he was put in ECW against guys like Taz and RVD. His match in Asbury Park against Taz is one of the ECW classics. I don't know how the rest of the IWC feels about Bigelow, but I thought he was awesome. One of the better big men in the business.
