Is C.M. Punk About To Get The Biggest Push Of His Life?

I haven't really been following the Benoit story that closley. But If in fact it does turn out he killed his family because of steroids it will put WWE in an awkward position. They have drug testing. It would obviously make a complete sham of it.

So does anyone else think that Punk is on a one way trip to the top? He's straight edge. I think that's something that WWE will want to promote. I really think that he's about to be made the biggest star of the company. It will take a few months. But I seriously see it happening. I cant see them pushing Lashley & Batsist to the heights they have been if it comes out that Benoit was juiced off his tits.

I think your onto something there Jake that they will want to promote a guy that is straightedge as he is a good model for the bussiness. Though if WWE was to really promote Punk they would need to get him off ECW and move him to RAW or Smackdown. The only thing that could him back from it is all the tattoos as some familes will not like that, but most will love his way of life.

Anyway you look at he is the face of ECW and in time his realife way could be what WWE needs to promote its clean image.I can see it but it will take awhile.

Punk has a good look so I dont think it will be a problem. The problem with his gimmick is that implies that all the other wrestlers drink, do drugs etc. When he made his debut I was surprised he still had the gimmick. Then again you cant hide the tattoo's. MVP can just about pull off strange ring attir. I doubt Punk could.

I have to agree there Jake his gimmick does implies that the rest of the roster do drink and smoke, etc. but knowing WWE they will find a way to incorporate his tattoos as a way to his gimmick as dont judge a person by who they look or something. MVP pulls it off as it fits his gimmick well. But lets face it Punk will be the man for awhile on ECW.

Being the focal point hasn't stoped Lashley. They just incorporate him into Raw or Smackdown. And with The McMahon death angle done, it would open up a McMahon/Punk feud. You know they have big plans for somebody when they feud with a McMahon. It doesn't matter that the feud doesn't make sence either. Because McMahon feuds are always void of logic.

And with his tattoos, good looks, mic skills and wrestling abaility, he'll sell a million t-shirts.

the tattoos shouldn't be a problem, just take a look at Rey Mysterio, he is tattooed like a federal prisoner, but he sells millions of t-shirts and merchandise.
I think Punks problem would be the physique. Yeah, sounds weird specially if the physique is the cause of multiple debates these days, but look at all the "popular" wrestlers, Batista, Cena, Lashley, Mysterio... they all have one thing in common: Huge bodies, and that is a factor when you are promoting a contact sport-entertainment product.
Obviously, there are exceptions like Edge, Kennedy, RVD, etc, whose bodies are not that artificial looking; Punk IMO is just improving everyday, but as A.J. said:

I think it'll happen sooner rather than later cause the WWE will get absolutely blasted with guys like bobby lashley, cena and batista as some of the top guys and WWe will want to get the whole steroid thing out of peoples minds as soon as they can.

I love cm punk and did see him on roh and other stuff before also me being from chicagoland area. He is a great wrestler and I can see them giving him the title on ecw if they let nitro have it they better let punk have it. But I couldnt agree more i would love to see punk on raw. If they would build ecw alittle bigger add the old tv title back then alot more people would watch and all the old ecw and everyone else wouldnt think ecw how they are now. They have like the same 5 wrestlers wrestle every week if they give it like another 10 maybe 15 I can see change.

Problem is ECW can only really support one on one feuds right now, i think people would LOVE a feud featuring Punk, Nitro, Burke and Cor Von, all Marcus has to do is randomly Pounce Burke and turn on him and the fans will love it, he's a monster. The four of them could have a hell of a match regardless of the rules, but they need to inject some more talent into the brand if they are serious about keeping it. Raw has more than enough guys to spare and in all honesty Smackdown needs some more people too, either merge ECW and Smackdown and accept the third brand doesn't work, or start making roster cuts on Raw. SOON.

If you've seen any of Punk's work over the years they should have been pushing him from the beginning... in fact I think they've kinda been holding him back. In the wake of the Benoit tragedy his Strait Edge and talent might be just what vince needs. I agree, with a little more time he'll have the ECW title and hopefully we'll see what he can really do.

Actually, it does somewhat sound realistic to push CM Punk as the top name of the business. First, the WWE is about reputation to the media. They do whatever is possible to make their selves look good and with what is going on, CM Punk would be the right one to push. Plus, unlike ALL new comers, CM Punk was able to come in with the fans behind him as a face as well as was known as a top mid carder in the WWE. After being with the WWE for a year, he's already a main eventer in his brand. How often do you see that happening?

If he does or will become the top name of the WWE, it would be in awhile. First he would need to capture the title from Morrison, go to a different show, fight through some feuds/storylines and capture a title.

I think punk will end up being moved to SD soon. He's been defeated by morrison 3times already in matches for the title, so it doesnt look like he's going to win it anytime soon. I can see him becoming a US champion or sumthing like that in the near future. After all ECW is basically a developmental territory & a place to get wrestlers over with the fans. CM punk is already over with the fans & has developed his in ring ability quite well. I see a move on the horizon.

I doubt he would be shipped over to SD! that quickly and with no ECW title run. He would need at least a lengthy run with it before being shipped over. I can see Punk taking the gold off Morrison at SS and having a nice run with it. Possibly till Armageddon or somewhere in that area. Hes got the skills to be a great champ for the future.

I think His big push is coming after SS on ECW as I said I see him taking the belt...It will be good for WWE to have a straight edge superstar (that doesn't look like a roided up moose like Boretista) on top of the brand with all these steroid issues flying around. He's over big time with the fans already and probably sells quite well. Punk has got a good future ahead of him.

I don't think that anyone should wrestle more than 3 times for a title unless it has changed hands. In the case of CM Punk and Morrison, I still stand by that. I do agree that CM Punk has it all and during his indie days he was amazing. But please, no more Punk vs Morrison. I think that it was the Edge and Cena fued that ruined it for me. Don't get me wrong here though...I did like it at times but it was TOO much. Not as bad as Cena's title reign though...I think that if ANYONE beats someone 3 times in a row, it makes the other look too weak. Maybe that's just my opinion, but losing 3 times shouldn't give you another title shot when there are plenty of guys that could be fueding with him for the strap...

No disrepect to Jake, but I don't think C.M. Punk will be getting the biggest push of his life atm. I think it would be a really bad idea by the WWE to push some1 who's straight edge right now.

Why? Because it would be like saying yes, we are to blame for the beniot tragedy. Which they arn't, plus it wouldn't be fair to Punk, getting the title because beniot killed himself and his family. That isn't right, and neither is pushing him because of it.

If they are going to push him, do it because he is a talented wrestler but not because he is straight edge

I've been hypothesizing for a while now that WWE is gonna put some non-muscle heads on at the top of the roster. I mean look at The Great Khali, sure hes huge but steroids dont make you tall, he just happens to be a massive freak of nature, no enhancement needed. Punk's got the sXe thing going for him. Of course he's not on Roids and Vicoden, he doesnt even take tylenol for crying out loud!!

This leads me to believe that WWE is going to sign Samoa Joe, say screw developmental, and throw him straight into a title feud with Cena. Then Vinny Mac could say "Our champ's a fat samoan guy......if thats what steroids make you look like, i dont think people would even think about taking steroids."

But back to Punk, the guy's a freaking veteran of the indy scene, he's got charisma out the ass, and he can work an amazing 60 minute draw with the fat samoan guy mentioned above

Punk is on the verge of becoming ECW champion. Yes he has been beat by Morrison three times in title matches but it is only obvious the way to get Punk over even more is to have him win the ECW title soon. I mean possibly at Summerslam, I mean it would only make sense for him to complete his title push at the second or thrid biggest ppv of the year. I think him and Morrison will feud for till maybe Survivor Series or something along thoes lines. Then I think sometime in the winter Punk make a jump to Smackdown goes to WM24 and compete in the MITB and wins pushing him into SD main event stauts. I mean there is no one over ther worth a bucket of nickles right now anyway. Then I think sometime either before or after WM Edge and Punk feud.. They could have a primetime feud IMO. It is intresting to see how this will go becasue Punk has the right image for WWE to push right now.

you know ive been thinking the same thing and just wondering how stupid tna is gonna look when they put ALL of the gold on joe and he still leaves. You would also be able to have umaga v samoa joe to find out whos the best samoa dude. (kinda like booker v king for the best king title)

Punk, Burke & Morrison all have amazing futures ahead. I'm very excited about all three. Punk will probably beat Morrison at SummerSlam, but I can't wait to see Burke win the ECW title. Good main event tonight too.

Looks like Punk is getting his shot at 15 minutes of fame after tonight. This more than likely means he will going onto SS to face Morrison. I can see him finally winning the title and continuing the fued with Morrison (rematch clause) at Unforgiven. He's got great skill and good image. He will make a great champ if he wins.

Cm Punk has caused a lot of problems backstage with Maria to where it will be awhile before he is champ. I know John Morrison had probles to but you have to remember it was suppose to be Beniot winning that match and they had to do a fast fix. I personally am not a fan of punk yet he hasn't done enough for me to get behind him. Cor Von needs to get his push right now or Burke.

I think the really need to give Punk the belt, because look at the signs during ECW 75% are for CM Punk, he is obviously the fan favorite and i am really starting the hate the whole John Morrison gimmick, he is a good wrestler but i hate his fucking gimmick, they need to give Punk the belt and let him feud with Elijah Burke again, or they should move Punk to Raw or Smackdown because that would raise ratings and then they should just drop ECW

I like the move of WWE not putting the ECW title on Punk right now. In fact, I hope they keep any gold off him for as long as possible. It's not that I'm not a Punk fan, but rather, it'll make the first gold he finally does win mean SO much more... When is the last time there has been one of the moments where the guy who has worked so hard for so long only to come up short finally wins the big one? Punk is the perfect character to put in that role because he's way over without having a belt and also young enough that he can be part of a long-term plan like this. I don't love the way the Summerslam match was booked, but I do like the ending if it leads into this type of storyline.

CM Punk.... has had how many title shots and still he hasn't lift up to any of those though i like CM Punk I think they should give him a rest for the title. i definately agree that CM Punk will get a huge push sometime soon and think that it would be a great idea for CM Punk to feud with a McMahon. if Vince doesn't push CM Punk, he would be an idiot. he can't afford another Bobby Lashley (who totally looks juiced) as champion. Hopefully the whole sterroid problem will open up the Cruiserweight Division to finally get back its glory.
