Angle takes this. Honky Tonk Man was never really anything much to me, even though he held the IC Title for the longest time ever. Still annoyed at that though, he's just... eh. But Kurt Angle, he'd beat the Tonk Man anyday he wanted, even with a broken neck. Vote for HTM, you're eh.

Kurt Angle all the way. Honky Tonk may have been a great Intercontinental champ. But Kurt was a great heavyweight champ. not to mention a gold medalist.

Kurt Angle wins because of his amazing in-ring work. Angle can ride his ring skills all the way to the end. He is one of the best in-ring wrestlers of all time. This will get Kurt the win. Honky Tonk Man was more of an entertainer. He couldn't hold a candle to Kurt's rings skills.

Angle aswell for me. HTM bored the crap out of me as a kid. Angle was much better in the ring and on the mic imo.

Kurt Angle did more in WWE, before moving to TNA, than Honky Tonk ever did. Angle with an ankle lock victory

The Honkey Tonk Man won his title from Steamboat by cheating. He retained his title on over a dozen instances...by cheating. But if anybody thinks he's going to cheat to beat Kurt Angle in the first round of the Wrestlezone Tournament, you're out of your damn mind.

Angle is a better wrestler, a better promo guy, had better feuds and has beaten better men (with and without cheating). I'll be the first to say that Angle's gold medal victory in the 96 Olympics was questionable - it was a 1-1 draw with an official ruling in Angle's favor. A lot of people say the injury drew him the sympathy needed to win... But even if you take the Olympic victory completely out of the picture, even if you take all his time in TNA out of the picture, Angle still takes this win. Honestly, if you just want to compare Angle's whole feud with Brock Lesnar against the whole of HTM's career, I'd still say Angle takes a close (ish) victory.

If Kurt Angle can make Brock Lesnar tap out, there's a pretty decent chance he can make any human on the planet tap out. Thanks for playing Honkey.

Angle will win this, with a broken freakin neck!!!!

In all seriousness though from what I can gather Honky Tonk Man used dirty tactics to win, trouble for him is that Angle also does this, not to mention Angle would wrestle HTM to the floor and wear him out befor applyiing the Ankle Lock.

Angle without question. The man is wrestling machine, he can go on a match for 60 minutes, moonsault off the top of cages, get in the face of the toughest guys in the locker room and kick their ass. The Honky Tonk Man was never that guy. Angle is going to Angle Slam Tonk right on top of his badalzzled guitar and then lock in the Ankle Lock for good measure.

The warrior squashed HTM for the IC title
after a year of cheating to hold on to it.
HTM was in my mind a terrible wrestler too.
Angle on the other hand won all the titles
in his first year in the wwe and the kotr.
Angle is one of the best and still is today
and I think he would have HTM beat in a
matter of mins..
HTM getting beat down slides out the ring
grabs the guitar swings and misses gets the
Angleslam the Angle puts on the anklelock
HTM taps like a bitch.

Winner Kurt Angle

This is one of the easiest matches in the first round. Angle is the clear victor here. Honky Tonk Man does hold the record for longest IC title reign but even as champion he lost a lot more often than he won. Angle has been beating the top stars of the business since his debut. Even as a new heel he went over some of the most popular stars of all time. Getting intentionally counted out or disqualified gave Honky a long title reign but he can't advance in the tournament that way.

Angle over Honkey Tonk Man with ease. HTM is mostly known for having the longest Intercontinental Championship reign ever. But he was nothing but a glorified jobber. Kurt Angle has wrestled The Rock, Steve Austin, Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, John Cena, Shawn Michaels, Jeff Hardy, Samoa Joe, and just about every name in wrestling - and he's beaten them all. He can and will do the same to the Honkey Tonk Man. It's not even a contest.

Lets just clear this up to begin - Honky Tonk was never a "great" IC champ. He was hated and reviled. People absolutely despised him. But in the ring he was horrible and very flimsy and fake.

Kurt Angle would have ran right through HTM, with HTM tapping within milliseconds of getting the ankle lock applied.

Angle by submission, 4 minutes.

Lord I can hear Honky's ankle snapping.

Angle slaps it on early on, after HTM does all he can to avoid getting in the ring. Ankle lock as soon as he gets in. HTM taps, the ankle lock stays for a while.

Haha, yeah alright. Honky Tonk Man is shit. Nobody cared about him, and I think in a lot of ways the only reason he was champion for so long is that there wasn't really anybody else to take it. Guys like Roberts were popular enough without the title, and the other good midcarders were mostly tag wrestlers. I think after a while they saw it as an opportunity to elevate Ultimate Warrior, so ran with it a bit longer. There may never have been a flukier champion, and he often held on by DQ victories and the like.

Kurt Angle bossed the midcard then went on to the main event and did very well there too. It shouldn't really need much more explanation than that, and the best Honky Tonk Man can hope for is losing by DQ.

In what bizarre, mixed up universe would Honky Tonk Man beat Kurt Angle????

Not in this one, thats for sure. Angle is an all-time great, one of the greatest technical wrestlers ever to lace up a pair of boots. He is better in every single way than HTM, even playing guitar- do you remember his hilarious "Jimmy Crack Corn" song to Austin and Vince???

Angle to dominate this, and make the HTM tap out in under 5 minutes.

Winner: Kurt Angle

In what bizarre, mixed up universe would Honky Tonk Man beat Kurt Angle????

The same one in which Sabu beats Austin.

Anyway, this should be an easy victory for Angle. HTM made a career out of cheap victories. Angle is better in almost every aspect than HTM and could win by pinfall, submission or countout (HTM chickens out and leaves the ring).

Winner: Kurt Angle.

HTM is about as overrated as they come. He would make this some sort of match, especially when you combine his intelligence with Angle never really being the guy who would squash people.

It would go somewhere between seven and ten minutes, and Honky would probably tap before Angle even had the ankle lock 100% hooked.

Honkey Tonk Man had a fun little career in Memphis, and WWE, and will be remembered as one of the great IC champs of all time. However, Kurt Angle takes this victory. Why? Because he's one of the greatest pure athletes EVER in Professional wrestling, if not the best! Kurt has won many titles within the WWE, as well as in TNA. Kurt Angle will be one of the greatest wrestlers ever when its all said and done. Kurt takes the W.

Why is Bruce Campbell facing Kurt Angle in the first round?

Oh thats HTM. I didn't recognize him because I'm not from Memphis. Granted he did have the IC title reign but as other people have said he basically cheated his way to that long reign. Kurt on the other hand is one of the most technically sound ring workers of all time. In a relatively short WWE career he accomplished more than most people ever will.

I say after about 7 or 8 minutes Angle slaps on the Ankle Lock, HTM gets a rope break, rolls out of the ring and gets himself counted out and then remembers he isn't the IC champ anymore and Angle advances. Its True, its Damn Real
