So let's revisit the contract issue for the millionth time. Brandi Rhodes claims that her reasons for leaving the company are a desire to follow Cody in ROH and New Japan, and that she landed a non wrestling related role on an Atlanta based TV show. That's all fine. She wasn't a big time player with Cody and without him she doesn't have much appeal. The report going around though is that GFW wanted ten percent of her earnings from the TV show. Like how can you justify that? I can at least see a tiny bit of sense in wanting a percentage of indy bookings, especially if the wrestler is using his TNA/GFW fame to advertise themselves. The TV show has nothing to do with wrestling though. It's beyond stupid. It's like they want the company to run off all the talent and then fail.

Yeah there's no defending this. Like, could you stretch this to say the accounting department? Working for a nationally televised company could indeed sway an accounting firm to hire you you know.

The indy things are a major stretch at best but if you squint really hard you might be able to justify it. This is complete nonsense though.

I could buy it if they said they wanted a percentage of earnings from independent wrestling dates, especially ones they help to book. But to demand a percentage of earnings from literally any revenue source outside of GFW is theft. Especially if you can't argue that the venture (like say someone's music or acting career) poses a real threat to the health of the performer.

I could see GFW trying to claim she got that television job due to her GFW fame, as dickish at that would be. She was a news anchor for two years before she got into wrestling and while she was training down in FCW, she got a masters degree in broadcast journalism. She is more than qualified to get that job on her own merit.

Also throw in all those years on WWE TV. She has the resume and demo reel on her own that I don't think a few appearances having bad matches on Impact would ahve cinched it for her, but that seems to be their stance.

I just thought about this, but this is literally a rumor and likely will remain a rumor. It says a lot about the state of GFW that we believe it though.
