Impact Support Club House

He was in the first match of TNA. First man hit. First man pinned. First X-Division champion. Probably the best TNA homegrown talent. Very loyal as well.

I still think he's only gone to ROH for a while.

I hope so. I think they can survive without him fine considering they've survived without him in a prominent role for like four years, but Styles is synonymous with TNA. It just won't feel the same without him. You don't have that guaranteed five-star match no matter who he's wrestling any longer with him not under contract.

Are people purposely trying to take the piss? That main event was pretty solid. It made sense for the whole story, Dixie did what she could to keep the title in TNA and Styles was on his way out anyway. Sure, he might return but if it's permanent and if they want to keep the current champion (and AJ) looking strong, that was the way to go around it. It was a fun match and made me hate heel Dixie even more. This was a TV match as well, not a PPV match so I don't know why people are complaining about not having a "wrestling match." This is professional wrestling, the story matters more than the wrestling. If it was the other way, Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, The Rock and John Cena wouldn't be the biggest draws of the industry. Imagine if AJ left as champion. That would make the next champion look unreal and undeserving. If Magnus won with a little help, it wouldn't make sense. This is the revamped AJ Styles. A low-blow or a shot from behind wouldn't put him away. This looked legit, made the heels look strong and built Magnus a lot more.

These past 2 weeks have been fantastic, let's hope they can keep it going this time. I just hope they don't keep the "authority" in front of the camera for too long. Expect it next week (obviously) but after Genesis, things should kick up.

Eh, I tend not to get too worked up into muddy arguments like that, over whether it was overbooked, or exactly how overbooked, etc. I don't care that much. The way I see it, one guy or ten, they kept Magnus a heel, and champion, effectively got the title off the shoulder of a guy not under contract, and left the door open in the event he does return to the company at some point. He has reason to go after Magnus (lost dirty), and good reason for revenge against everyone involved, aside from Sting.

Personally, I'm more excited about what new talents are going to debut (hopefully) at Genesis.

And there's that as well.

Well that should be exciting. We already have Gunner, Sam Shaw, Chris Sabin and EC3 on the rise, a few more would be excellent. I also see something in Jesse and also Jay Bradley assuming he's sill signed.

I want new blood, personally. I think the company needs to do a lot of conceding to the fans they've alienated over the last three years. Bring in new blood. Give guys a decent push. They need tag teams, for sure. The Wolves would work. And they could use a slew of new Knockouts as well.

Yeah, my main "Hogan/Bischoff complaint" is that there is barely a mid-card. They should aim to spread the younger talent out on the mid-card. A few X-Division stars, two or three more tag-teams and certainly more Knockouts. Since 2010, we did get Roode, Aries, Bully and Storm but more focus on those below them is something they've lacked. They've shown they're capable of doing that and regaining those fans that watched the product when the ring had a few more corners would be good for their image. I don't think they got this much hate before 2010.

Couldn't agree more. TNA has an excellent upper mid-card at the moment (Roode/Angle, Storm/Gunner, Anderson/Ray, EC3/Sting), but they need to focus on both their tag team division and mid-card, and that's where new talent come in. And no, that doesn't mean focusing on Norv and Dewey, that means building up X-Division title matches and creating some new tag teams to take on the Bromans. There's still talent being underutilized that could easily be used to create some more compelling television than Norv and Dewey.

And speaking of the mid-card, perhaps it's time to consider bringing back the TV title, new belt and all. Have new blood or guys like Storm, Kaz, and Daniels battle for it.

Their attempt at a mid-card has indeed been laughable, Global title, TV title, consistently trying to trick us into believing X-title means anything. They just need to focus on more tag teams, all their best talent was in the division last year.

Holy balls.

Dragon Saga's going to have to start watching Impact!

I'm afraid I've got some BAD NEWS!

I won't. I've watched them for six years now, I'll keep up with what their doing and wish them the best but It'll take more to get me to give TNA another chance.

It depends on the size of the roster. Remember, it's only a two hour show and there's only so much you can fit in. Because of the X-Division there wouldn't be much space for another title. If they wanted to build mid-carders, they could put that down on the tag-teams or have a star to put them over. It's not as if Roode, Storm, Aries, Angle, Sting, Magnus, Bully and Anderson are going to be competing for the World Title all at once so they could be used to help the younger talent. They better have hired a sufficient amount for Genesis.

I'd sooner they just shelf the TV title... indefinitely. That title has been dragged through the mud, spit on, kicked, pissed on, spit on again and then re-named, as if that'd be enough for everyone to just see it and think "Oh, it's not so bad! It's the TV title now! It's different!"

No, it isn't. Just shelf it. You only have two hours of programming a week, and you're running another major, time-eating authority storyline (collectivegroan.gif) — there's just no time to dedicate to it being an important aspect of the stories going on in the company. At best, you'll end up with another tourney to crown a champion (if Abyss doesn't come back), a champion will be crowned, and go the same way as most X Division champs have gone lately. Nowhere. Fast.

They keep on involving the main storyline with a lot of the roster and divisions. The authority storyline runs through the whole show and it has always been that way. Take a look back at Main Event Mafia or Aces and Eights, they were on every show all the time. That's what stunts the growth of the mid-card and having a power-control story annually isn't really helping.

Just read the latest Joe interview. He insists he's made it clear to the powers that be that if they want to run with him, it's gonna be this year.

I doubt he really walks if they don't follow through. I mean he could follow Styles to regional promotion-ville. But Joe has been booked so much worse than AJ these last few years that I kind of wonder if the Samoan Submission Machine has a touch of Stockholm syndrome.

I read it the same way. I didn't see it as a threat, but more like him just saying, fuck it, gimme the ball. I can do it.

I'm going to be honest, I think Joe's limited on his ring work. He was a solid X-Division performer but he hasn't really had memorable match after he moved on to the Heavyweight Division. He can be charismatic and interesting at times which I like but giving him the World Championship may be a little boring. Let's see if he can show me otherwise. He looks like he's going to be the guy that faces off with Magnus and might dethrone him in honour of Styles, so I would hope in these next few weeks he really steps it up a level.

I have yet to fully believe AJ Styles won't be the one to take the belt off of Magnus.

This whole thing has been booked where the proper payoff is just that. I wouldn't be surprised if for the next few months they spend their time building up heel Magnus while getting a deal in place for Styles to come back when his ROH contract is up.

If that doesn't come to fruition, Joe is just as good as anyone I guess. I wouldn't count out Anderson either. He just took down A&8's. That alone, plus whatever he does with Bully for the next bit will get him strong enough to challenge for the title. Angle is always a safe bet as well. Both him and Joe have the MEM ties with Magnus.
