I'm Making a Forum

Jane

Getting Noticed By Management
No, I'm not advertising it. I'm just wondering if anyone knows any free servers or programs to create a forum. I love this one but I have no idea how to get this kind of forum but any ideas would be appreciated.

I want mine to be like Wrestlezone because I love the lay out, but I don't know how to create one like this.

If you want a forum like this, be ready to pay $160. Vbulletin forums are expensive.

Unless, you just want it for personal use, and not for people to come to. Because you can always find...ahem...vbulletin forums for free.

However, the BIGGEST challenge for you is not finding a good forum, it's knowing how to set it up. To set a vbulletin forum, or many other kinds of forums, you need to install the AMP package; Apache, MySQL, and PHP.

Otherwise, just do a search for free forums, like InvisionFree or Proboards.

Ya... after looking into vBulletin and a free forum like it... I have no idea how to set that stuff up. I think I'll stick to the easier online ones. I found one that works for me so it's going good. Thanks for the help:)

I'll visit your forum Jane, cant help you set it up though, I am a bit of a technophobe, it's amazing I found my way on here at all.

VB costs too much, get PHPBB and upgrade later.
Meh, phpBB isn't bad, but it's not great either. I set that up for another forum that I'm actually admin at (more like a tech guy than a forum admin), but it has several problems, and I've never been impressed with the back end of it.

I used to admin a site using it, has some obvious security issues. The only reason I suggested it was because VB costs money while PHPBB is free. VB cost 180 bucks per Owned License and 100 bucks a year for leased. Not cheap.
