I'm bored...who wants to add me on MSN Messenger?

ICQ on Dial up was absolute hell. Now that you mentioned that it came back to me why I quit using it. I haven't gone back to ICQ since, though one day I believe I will return to it and see what uses I can find for it.
Now days, since all the kids and stuff use MSN, AIM, and Yahoo, ICQ doesn't have near the spam it used to, so tech geeks use it a lot. I've used it some out at school to conversate with the people who run our server. It's actually kind of a nice nostalgic feel.

That's what I like about Linux, as far as my ubuntu studio partition is concerned I currently use a messenger program that reminded me of the old MSN.
I'm using KMess. What are you using?

And, I tried Ubuntu, but I think I like the OpenSUSE much better. I'd put OpenSUSE 11, with KDE 4.1 on par with Vista in terms of aesthetic look any day. I think it looks every bit as gorgeous as Vista does.

However I still miss the ability to pretty much mod MSN anyway I saw fit. For example, one great program I had for it a few years ago was the ability to see who opened up a conversation window with you. Now I can be paranoid at times, but this was more to entertain myself by seeing who was thinking about talking to me, and who actually did. It was a fun program as it let you know what everyone was doing on MSN all at the same time.
That sounds like a nice little program. Never heard of that one.

My favorite thing to do is to go through and see who has deleted you from their lists. It'd be surprising to see who isn't friends with you.

I might have to check it out again, I'm all for conversing with fellow computer enthusiasts, and since I do work with computers for a job, would probably be very educational.

Looking it up, I'm using the same program. I rather like it, very simple clean and to the point.

I haven't tried OpenSUSE, and I've looked over the other Linux distributions, so I may have to give that a shot. The main reason why I tried Ubuntu Studio was because it came with a plethora of audio recording software and I wanted to take a look at those tools that came with it. Needless to say I was impressed, but as far as using it as an everyday OS, I would rather find something else, so OpenSUSE will definitely be on the shortlist of options.

I don't remember the name of the program I had, it stopped working once Windows Live Messenger was introduced, but I believe it did that as well as all that I listed above.

Oh and I also tried Pidgin for a messenger program for Linux, but it was sort of a clusterfuck that I found wasn't very efficient.

If you have a CD burner, you can just make a LiveCD of OpenSUSE 11, where you run the Operating System from the CD. It's a little slower, obviously, but if you're just looking to explore, it's not a bad option.

I'll check it out for sure, I'm probably going to reinstall it over my ubuntu install since I screwed it all up trying to get MythTV to work on it. I need to make a partition for my Windows 7 RC anyway, so that will kill two birds with one stone I'm hoping.

Speaking of which, I'm liking Windows 7 so far. I have the RC installed on my work laptop. Initially I had Vista on it, but once I put 7 on, oh man the improvement was vast. I was hoping to have a Professional upgrade as well as a Home premium upgrade pre ordered from Best Buy, since it's only $100 and $50 respectively at this time, but due to other financial situations popping, I will be unable to. I'm pretty disappointed, to get two copies of Windows 7 for $150 when it comes out would be awesome.

Nevermind.
What?

I'd still try the Live CD first. Downloading and then burning a 4 GB .iso image to DVD takes forever.

When Windows 7 come out?

I believe it comes out October 22nd. Not 100% on that exact date, but I do know it comes out October of this year. If you preorder an upgrade disc by July 11th you get that huge discount on them.

Nah, unlike many people, I think Windows Vista does quite a good job. Most people that say Vista sucks don't even have a reason, they just know what they've heard.

I love the ignorant.

I don't have a problem with Vista, the biggest complainers were those same people that didn't want to change from 98 to XP when it came out. As tech people, you and I both know how to change Vista to fit our needs and to make it more efficient. For example, the UAC, very easy to keep active but turn the prompts off. A very small program called TweakUAC takes care of that.

I have a copy of Windows Home Premium, but I think I ran into driver issues with my video card for some reason. Said video card has since blown caps, so I replaced it with a new one. But for the meantime, I'm content with my Windows XP Pro. The main thing I miss is the Windows Media Center, simply an awesome program for TV Tuner Cards, and music in general.
