IIHF World U20 Championship

Throwing a tantrum
I cant believe I didn't make this thread yet, though I am not sure how many people on here watch it. I love it, always been a tradition to start watching it starting on Boxing Day here.

The favourites are the hometeam, Canada, who has dominated this decade in the tournament. Canada will face the Americans to see who gets the first seed, and a 75% chance to medal. Canada's best opponent were the Slovaks so far, which put up the first goals against Canada, but fell 8-2. Canada also beat Latvia 16-0, and the Swiss (who are always a prickly team) 6-0.

I predict Canada wins again this year, because Canada's Juniours are just too good each and every years. I predict we beat either the Fins or Swedes this year in the final.

I absolutely love the World Juniors. It's always a staple for me during the Christmas holidays and I know Boxing Day for the start of this tournament. Canada is looking to win 6 gold medals in a row and have a good chance as they have a very strong roster. They have a potent offence and also a solid defence and Jake Allen is playing quite well. The Swedes are our toughest test once again and they are hungry for a gold medal. Canada has beaten them the past 2 years in the finals and the Swedes just can't seem to win this tournament. I expect a rematch this year.

Canada faces their toughest opponent so far this year when they play USA. This game is always physical and intense and I expect no different this year. They always seem to put on a classic on New Years Eve, such as last years thrilling game, and hopefully Canada comes out on top, which I think they will. This is Allen's biggest test and if he can play well against the States then it will show that he is a quality starter for Team Canada. Right now I'm waiting at home for this game to start and I'm getting all giddy inside.

Canada as able to overtake the Americans in the shotout to remain perfect in round robin play and advance straight to the semi finals where we will wait patiently for our playoff opponents. We didn't play as well as we could so we have to learn from our mistakes if we are to take on the Americans again.

Last night Canada pounded Switzerland in the semi-final 6-1 on route to another appearance in the finals. But lost Travis Hamonic who suffered a separated shoulder after an extremely dirty hit from behind.

USA beat Sweden in 5-2 after being tied 2-2 for most of the game.

Tuesday at 8pm on TSN Canada will once again meet for the Gold Medal

GO CANADA!

What a way to end the tournament. Canada vs. USA after that thrilling New Years Eve game for the Gold Medal. It should be a fantastic game and if Canada actually plays well in this game, they should come out on top. Losing Hamonic hurts a little bit, but they have the personnel to fill that void.

It would have been exciting either way whether USA or Sweden won because both have something to prove against Canada. I kinda feel bad for Sweden, always coming close in this tournament, but never making it over the hump.

No matter though because Canada vs. USA should be amazing and definitely a must watch game. 8pm EST on TSN, can't wait.

GO CANADA GO

Opps, Should have been in on this more:)

After the Swiss beat the Russians, you had to know this was going to be a great tournament, For the Canadians to meet the Americans, after the Americans shockingly to me, got by the Swedes, you know this is going to be a fun finals. Canada has had the easier schedule coming into this thing, but I think their firepower is top notch, and they will be able to beat the Americans here.

Anyone could have guessed, Sweden won Bronze in the U20 after they faced the surprising Swiss team. Final score was 11-4, I left at 10-4 with little doubt of who was going to win. I thought Sweden had a chance to win gold this year, but they are left with Bronze.

with 13 minutes, the Americans lead Canada, and it looks like after Jake Allens horrible performance, Canadas run as gold medalists might be over.

And it is over, USA beat Canada, even after we tied it with minutes and seconds left. USA will now get their second ever gold, each time against Canada (2004). Canada had the chance to win, but Allen was HORRIBLE, and our defense was lacking as well, even if our forwards played a great game.

Cant believe Canada gave up a 3-1 in overtime, but thats the way it goes. Canadas 13th straight medal, and next year, We might battle the Americans in Buffalo.

DAMMIT! NO! I am so disappointed, after what looked like a game saver in the last 5 minutes....

Alex Peteralngelo wins best Defenceman rightfully so

Eberle wins best forward, again. Rightfully so.

Big class by the Saskatoon crowd singing Oh Canada during the Silver Medal presentation.

in 2011, Canada WILL get revenge on US soil.

I'm hurting right now. Eberle did so much for Team Canada and the way they fought back to tie it was truly magical. It hurts to lose in overtime and it hurts especially when it was a 3 on 1. I don't have much to say right now except this:

My love for Canada runs deep and no matter the heartbreak or disappointment I will forever remain STRONG AND FREE!!!

LET'S START THE GOLD MEDAL STREAK AGAIN NEXT YEAR!!!

Is hockey the one with the ice or the one where you can't use your hands? It doesn't matter, we won!!!!

USA! USA! USA!

Honestly, though, this is encouraging. Team USA's senior national team isn't much older than this team, so maybe, by 2014, we can mix the two teams and put up a fight again.

I've seen enough highlights of the tournament to be encouraged for the future. And, I'm glad we won.
