Ideas for new tag teams

Jappa121

Dark Match Winner
I have been really into the tag team matches that that wwe has been putting on recently, but I have the same reccuring thought going through my mind, Why is there such a lack of legitimate tag teams, The Primo Brothers, Miz and Morrison, and maybe jessy and festus are the only real tag teams. The edge heads seem to have a good amount of in ring talent but were never pushed correctly.

Now for my new tag team idea...Brian Kendrick and Dolph Ziggler, they both are rediculous flamboyant characters...Brian Kendrick has enough talent to carry ziggler if he has a lack of experiance. But what I have seen of Nick Nemeth is that he can put on a good match. (although this has not carried over into his current run as Dolph Ziggler). Kendrick should not be with Ezekial it makes him look extremely weak and makes it seem like kendrick cant win a match by himself. He did awesome in the scramble match but since then he is constantly loosing..any way Ziggler and Kendrick would be awesome to see together and they are both on the right level to be tag team competitors

Kendrick with Big Zeke could be a great thing in the making however, his character should be even more cowardly and shouldn't want to win without cutting corners, being a vile, cowardly little punk that just ekes by with his big dumb friend's help. WWE could then build that up, with Kendrick getting all the opportunities at titles and PPV matches, while the big man just backs him up never asking for anything, then they could book one of the babyfaces to get in Ezekiel's ear and make him question why he is doing this for Kendrick, eventually turning face and not helping anymore, setting up a nice little feud to see who has what it takes to make it to the next level. Anyways a good tag team that is actually a tag team is Cryme Time. Why havent these guys been pushed more? and team up Mike Knox with someone who can talk. manager or whatever. maybe Santino, that'd be an interesting odd couple team.

Chris Jericho and The Brian Kendrick.

Chris Jericho would have to revert to his old whiny heel Y2J character for this to work though, I think but it is something that I would be interested in seeing as The Brian Kendrick shows an arrogance and cockyness similar to the heel Y2J and these guys aren't the biggest guys either and I think they'd be able to work together well as a tag team. Kendrick being in a tag team with Jericho would only help him and Jericho would be able to make up for any promo work or mic work that Kendrick might not be able to do aswell. Both guys a small and would be able to put on some great, athletic matches.

CM Punk and Hurricane Helms

Both of these guys, like Jericho and Kendrick aren't the biggest but can put on some good matches and both would be very over with the crowd and be a polar opposite to the heel team of Jericho and Kendrick I just mentioned. I think that team could work, maybe. They would get a great face reaction, I think.

The only thing stopping those teams is that CM Punk and Jericho are RAW and Helms and Kendrick are SmackDown!, but maybe if they have a draft, things could change.

Chris Jericho and CM Punk-Heel tag team
This team works perfectly. Chris Jericho is a good and honest man who does things the right way and he criticizes the fans for the corruption they have. Mix that with a heel CM Punk who believes he is the better than the fans because he is straightedge. The characters are very similar and mesh well together. These two could go on a crusade to cleanse and purify the WWE.

Gold Standard Dust
Ive proposed this idea before on an older thread. But its so nice i do it twice. This would be awesome. Its liek a new version of Booker T and goldust, with the serious athlete and the comedic freak. This could REALLY REALLY help shelton benjamin to get over, and i think the segemnts would be incredible. Goldust could act as Shelton Benjamins biggest fan and stalk him week after week. Goldust could say that he and the GOLD standard are meant to be together, this could lead to some hilarious and extremely entertaining moments and eventually they would start teaming up. Week after week we see bookerdust like segments involving the two and they will just continue to get more and more over.

Kofi and Kream
Kofi Kingston teams up with Evan Bourne. These guys are both phenomenal high flyers and would work very well together. They could have some great matches and some very innovative double team moves. Definately would be enjoyable to watch these guys perform together.

MANUMAGA
Obviously Manu and Umaga teamming up. Give Manu some crazy samoan face and body paint like umaga has and make him a savage beast. These two are a new version of the wild samoans and would be a domiant force in the tag team divison. Make it way over the top, let them do tribal dances and war cries and completely destroy anyone in their path.

Ninja World Order
Kung Fu Naki and Jimmy Yang become a japanese ninja tag team. They are both solid in the ring ans they are both asian so it would work. They dont have to cut promos becuase they are mysterious ninjas, this plays to their strengths. Plus they could have a really cool entrance with this type of gimmick.

Obviosuly they couldn't do all of these teams becuase you do not wnat to sacrafice too much of the mid card. But, i do think that each of these teams would be pretty cool in their own right.

One team that I think could work for a while is Manu & Umaga. For one they are both big somoans so that is there gimmick. People like teams that have a common connection or look similar(Duddleys, Hardys, E&C were all "brothers", Cryme Time are both gangsters, ect).

They would be a believable team instead of some seemingly random paring(like Kingston & Punk). They would look and act like a team it's easier for the fans to believe it. Also Manu doesn't seem like anything special so he could learn something from Umaga. Well Umaga might seem "bigger" than a tag team, but I have a feeling a few months after his re-debut he will be nothing more than a jobber to the stars, so you might as well put him in a tag team and have them dominate and rebuild that division for a while.

It's weird that so many people think Umaga/Manu would make a good pairing. Sure they're both Samoan, but one is playing a savage and the other looks like a pizza guy. And they wrestle two different styles. I just don't see it working.

You know what would work better? Manu and Sim Snuka. They're still both samoan, but they have similar styles, similar personalities, and have an actual storyline going too.

I actually like the idea of Sim Snuka and Manu becoming a bona fide team after this Legacy story line runs its course.

And with both men nearing the end of their careers, and I realize this is not a new tag team, but one more Brothers Of Destruction run might be pretty cool. Having the two men reform their team, wreak some havoc for a while and then retire with one last feud together could be good. And if they put over an upcoming tag team or two it wouldn't be the worst thing.

Scotty Goldman is too good a talent to be wasting right now, and I think putting him in a team would be a great idea. My only problem is I don't know who could be his partner. I guess bring somebody up from development and have them work as an "Edge and Christian during the 5 Second Pose era" type of gimmick. Funny but not overdone.

And for some reason, and I don't know why, I like the idea of Big Show and Jamie Noble. I really have no reason as to why I would enjoy this, but I do.

Boogey and Kizarny are made for each other. Jobber to the Jobbers maybe, but they seem like they should be friends for a while. Nobody else wants to eat lunch with them, they might as well eat together.

If there was another Rhodes kid hanging around somewhere, I'd say put 'em with Goldust and have 'em teach little Cody a lesson. Since there's not, put 'em with Hacksaw. There's has to be a comedy act in that somewhere. I can't find it, I'm sure somebody can.

Hurricane Helms and Christian...Why? Because once Vince inevitably tires of the Instant Classic, he's going to need something to do.

One I've had in mind for a long time is CM Punk and MVP. I know... they're on different brands right now, whatever, just talking theoretically. I think they'd make a good heel team with CM Punk attacking the public about all the drugs they use while he maintains his straight-edge lifestyle, and MVP could do his usual better-than-you act. Some people might consider this a strange idea or an odd couple, but that's what would make it interesting. They are both great in the ring which would be the main draw.

Santino + Goldust = SanDust
Both are comedic, and maybe if you combine the 2 into a tag team, it could be funnier than h3ll. Make them win the World Tag Team Titles then it would be twice as funny as h3ll. It would also be a considerable boost to the tag division and they could have some funny rivalries with Cryme Tyme and Morrison & Miz

TNVR, I really like the idea of Shelton and Goldust working as a tag team, that's the best idea yet. I also like the idea of The Brian Kendrick and Chris Jericho. Right now I can't come up with anything decent, you guys seem to have it covered pretty good.

Sim Snuka & Manu

This will probabaly already happen but i think it'd be better to pair them up as the new wild samoans to take on legacy than to have them go as singles competitors and get buried.

Kozlov and Umaga

These guys pretty much have the same gimmick. Guy reinforcing a stereotype with 4 or 5 moves that can put anyone down with a very good win-loss record .So as a tag team they would be even more deadly. I say you should have these guys win the tag titles and hold onto them for a long time occasionally beating the crap out of the top face of the brand to please the GM.

This is not so much a suggestion of guys to put together, but more of the attitude WWE seems to adopt with such teams. There always seems to be a 'We'll throw them together for two months then feud them' sort of agenda hovering over teams, especially guys who made their names as single wrestlers.

If they're going to go for a new team, there has to be similarity in the guys, because that's the only way a team seems to be able to do well - eg Nitro/Morrison with Miz/Mercury both were lean, cocky guys and they worked, Hardyz were high flyers, Dudleys and LOD were big, physical guys.

Of the guys mentioned, Bourne/Kofi would go well together.

I'll suggest a 'new' (modified from previous suggestion). Kendrick and Helms... both are small, cocky but still popular. Not as if they'll win much else on SD!, so why not give them a big run as a tag team and not have them fighting each other in a few months. I think they're good enough and able to work well since both have been part of tag teams in the past

I think that Goldust and Boogeyman would be a good tag team because they both have weird personalities and not really anyone wants to be in the ring with either of them.:burn::fu2:

"The Kings of California" would be the name that I would give Ziggler, and Dykstra old friends from Spirit Squad. It would be interesting because they have history, and I think the chemistry/familiarity is already there with eachother as a tag team. Both have the "look"(particularily the beach blonde look). A cross between Imapct Players/Hollywood Blondes with a bit of their own spice to it. In other words not a complete rip off of the two teams I thought they should base their gimmick on.

I like the idea of pairing Kennedy, and MVP. I think they could make a solid run as the top dog "heel" tag team for Smackdown. Both men have had some success as mid card talents. It seems as though both men have been in a "ditch" creatively speaking. They are both talented, and a solid tag team run wouldn't be that bad of an idea. As for a name if they so choose to have one should be "The Untouchables". Both men should arrive to the arena in the same different limousines, not because they can't stand eachother, but because their "egos" have grown that much.

I wouldn't mind seeing something done with the younger talents. Perhaps DH Smith, and Tj Wilson will as a tag team soon.

I like the idea of Scotty Goldman in a tag team to get him over with the fans. Maybe have him start a thing with Hurricane Helms? I don't know why, I just think that'd work. Have Helms take Goldman under his wing, with Helms playing the staright man for Goldman. Have Helms turn heel again later, and feud them.

Santinodust could work, especially if they have beth pheonix in their corner. They could work an angle where Goldust is trying to seduce Santino or some weird shit like that and Beth Pheonix is jealous. It would be like a twisted love triangle involving beth and goldust both wanting Santino.

Since we are on the topic of Goldust tag teams heres another:
PDeccio said that Scotty GOLDman is a huge talent that is being wasted and i agree. We all know that hes a great comedic character so what if he was inserted in a tag team with Goldust. GOLDMANDUST would have sooooooo much potential and could get insanely over based on segments and promos alone. This could really help Colt Cabana develop.

For a more serious tag team you could have Willima Regal team up with Paul Birchall and do the whole arrogant englishmen gimmick. I could see a good feud with these guys against Cryme Tyme. Once again i stress that the WWE cannot create too many new teams out of midcarders because it kills the midcard division but in the short term this team could work very well.

first they need a stable that the legacy can take down first group manu, sim and umaga. send umage to raw for awhile and do samoans vs the legacy then have losing team leaves raw then manu and sim and umaga go to smackdown and dominate then job. helms and punk is good. shelton and goldust would be awesome. but cody rohdes and goldust would make a good team if cody ever leave legacy

Awhile ago i thought about a modern incarnation of The Nation of Domination. You could have "The Black Pope" Elijah Burke as the leader/mouthpiece of the group(i know hes released but this is a hypothetical idea), you could have either Mizark Henry or Ezekiel as the enforcer and then rounding out the group could be either Shelton or MVP. Maybe they could do a storyline where they try to recruit R Truth into the nation and he ultimately decides to join. This would add some depth to R Truth as a character and he could spread the "truth" about black opression. How does this relate to this tag team thread. Well, all factions consist of a tag team for the most part so the NOD tag team could be something like MVP and Mark Henry or any combination of the guys in the faction(freebirds rule?). Just an idea.

i always thought of a re-carnation with the nation of domination but like have MVP, Ezikel, Mark Henry and have Kofi Kingston cut his dreads alter his accent and be the leader of the group LOL big stretch but idk it sounds good in my head but that would be a pretty cool tag team/stable thing going on.

CM Punk & Scotty Goldman How about the WWE do their version of The Second City Saints & reunite CM Punk & Colt Cabana. The videos that I have seen of these 2 teaming up always entertained me & if they ever reunite in the WWE then they should play the same gimmick that they had whenever they was a team.

Regal & Burchill This team was already done once & it was a great team. They could either do the blueblood's gimmick, the arrogant englishmen gimmick or the gimmick Regal did when he was taggin with Dave Taylor about 2 years ago.

Manu & Umaga They look almost identical & the fact that they are real-life cousins could either make it more intersting or not. It would add a team with strength & power which I don't think the WWE has many of those as it is.

1.) kofi kingston/cm punk/evan bourne/dh smith
2.) orton/dibiase/rhodes/flair(reid)
3.) kozlov/umaga/khali(who understands any of them)
--
realistically, they could have a second faction of face legacy-esque stars.

1.)
Joe Hennig/Sim Snuka/D.H. Smith/Nattie Neidhart/Dakota Darsow
Taylor Rotunda/

i could easily see them tossing either hennig or rotunda into legacy with orton and the rest, it would seem fitting. other than that, they could mix and match and see what works tagwise. wwe has an increasing number of 2nd and 3rd gen stars anymore.

I think from a pure wrestling standpoint you could pair Charlie Haas and Jamie Noble. If you wanted to pull in some non-WWE talent, Bryan Danielson and Christopher Daniels or the Briscoe Brothers. The only real problem is Haas/Noble are weak on the mic - they could align them with Jericho or maybe pull AA (Arn Anderson) out from backstage to be a mouthpiece, actually AA would make better sense. Danielson/Daniel not known by WWE fans - Briscoe Brothers same thing. I've only seen the Briscoe Brothers matches on youtube and never saw them cut a promo, so I can't comment on their mic skills.

I think its fair to say that the best tag teams are ones with either gimmicks, similar looks, and or similar styles. For example, the Dudleyz, Hardyz, Edge n Christian, London & Kendrick, Miz n Morrison, Kane n Taker, APA, the list goes on.

So therefore I think to create a tag team out of 2 already established mid carders or higher that don't have too much in common will work. For example CM Punk and MVP, Jericho and CM Punk. And I'm sorry but Shelton Benjamin and Goldust? Please! That would be lame.

I like the idea of a new wild samoans which could include Manu teaming with Sim Snuka or Umaga. I heard people's point that Manu isn't as good as Umaga, but hey, with time he could be. Umaga improved loads since his days in 3 Minute Warning aka Rosie N Jamal.

I admit I haven't seen much of Scotty Goldman or whatever his name is, but maybe bringing him back with a tag partner would work better, someone who is also trying to get noticed like Ricky Ortiz. Or maybe even Scotty Goldman teaming with Shelton Benjamin.

Let me know what you think!

Santino + Goldust = SanDust

Seriously, that's awful.

I'm surprised that there aren't more suggestions like R-Truth & Kofi Kingston, Mark Henry & Shelton Bejamin. Whenever I see usually see threads like this people group all the black wrestlers into teams. You ask them why, often the answer is ''I think they'd work well together''. Really it's because they coordinate colour wise. That's cool, I always like it when teams where the same attire I guess it's similar.

R truth and Elijha burke was a team i would have looked forward to seeing but burkes gone :( sim snuka, manu and umaga faction or just manu and umaga, repackage burchill and team him with dj gabriel in an updated version of the brittish bulldogs, kizarny and the boogeman (or maybe not), ricky ortiz and dolph ziggler,
