I think the Cruiserweight title idea should be scrapped.

Occasional Pre-Show
I know that there have been some good cruiserweight matches in the WWE, but it seems apparent to me that the creative team isn't going to do anything with this belt. So my idea is that they get rid of it and bring in a new title that isn't weight restricted. That way some of the other undercard that wouldn't be considered for the US title and aren't cruiserweights could go for.

Leave your opinions on if you think they should scrap the CW title and if so what you would replace it with.

My bad this should be in the WWE forum, my mistake. Please move.

Yep, wrong forum, but you posted it here on purpose, I think... why else would you type "...this should be in the WWE forum, my mistake" while making a post? Are you trying to force us ECW fans to discuss WWE crap on here?

Hmmm....

Actually I edited it after I posted it. My bad once again.
Oh ok, I'm used to seeing a "last edited" notation on the bottom of the post. I guess they have that as optional. My bad.

In current times, just about everyone ends up with a title within a couple of years of being in WWE. It's not as much of a rarity to win them since belts are more easily attainable and since wrestlers have the potential to have a huge resume of titles these days. With that in mind, even if the cruiserweight title isn't used right, it may as well still exist. After all, if WWE were to go along with your idea, it would mean yet another title that can be added to just about anyone's resume. The cruiserweight title at least gives a specific group of guys something to do without the risk of anyone having a shot at it. I don't see why a lot of fans think that WWE needs to go to the furthest possible extent and scrap things (in this case the cruiserweight title) when simply making modifications would make more sense. In this case the modications would possibly be to just have the cruiserweights play a more active role on Smackdown as opposed to Velocity. That would possibly help to a small degree.

Welcome to 2006 where the differentiation between ECW and WWE fans (the whole you must like one of the other thing that you are implying) doesn't exist to the same degree as in the past...not when a lot of newer ECW fans are subjected mostly to the new WWE version.

I think they should keep it... What's the weight you have to be? like 200 right?
I think the cruiserweight title can go very far... After Smackdown gets Batista & Benoit back, they can let Rey Mysterio win the cruiserweight title. Yes, WWE doesn't have too many cruiserweights like they used to have, but I wouldnt like to see it go. I would like to see it become something though

I see nothing wrong with Rey eventually going for that title months or a year down the road. I wouldn't see it as a step down for him rather a step up for the title since someone that was a champ would still consider it important. We've seen that happen plenty of times with even bigger names than Rey. However, if that were to happen right away, that likely would indicate a step down. There's no point to it. It's not like when Rey loses the title he has nothing to do as there are plenty of feuds that he can have without the cruiserweight title.

Adding more talent doesn't automatically mean an improvement to the division. They can have all of the talent in the world but if they choose not to present it in a way that appeals to fans, it doesn't do much. WWE has shown in the past that even with restrictions the cruiserweight matches can be entertaining so I have no doubts that adding some TNA guys could help. However what could happen doesn't mean that it will happen.

That's true, I forgot to put they have to present it more. The WWE should make Smackdown! their own bootleg TNA with alot of crusierweights and a bit of heavyweights to make TNA lose ratings and then Smackdown would be alot better then it is now.

In a sense, since the divisoin is based on the WCW version it shuld probably try to incoporate some of those elements.

Looking back to how the WCW cruiserweight division was, there were 4 main differences. 1) less restrictions, 2) a large roster of cruisers, 3) lucha libre wrestling, 4) matches that happened on the main shows just for entertianment and not with the purpose of furthering anything.

Compare that to now 1) like i said the restrictions stil don't have to mean bad matches.

2) Even if some cruisers are only used occasionally or signed to one time deals, it might spark interest to have more options that have the potential of being used.

3) Only a few that can work that style are employed and from the looks of it one (Super Crazy) may go to ECW, one (Rey) is beyond the division, and then there's Psychosis.

4)
Smackdown sometimes had 3 on 3 matches with cruisers that were good. WCW had them all of the time. Not everything has to further a storyline imo so I wouldn't mind seeing more frequent cruiserweight matches on television.

I agree with alot of what everyone has said but it just seems like to me that with Vince's love for the big guys that the cruiserweight division will never get a fair shake. I would love to see some actual creativity and effort put into the division, and unless just pulls a complete 180 I don't see that happening. A new title could mean more opportunities for some of the deserving undercard that Vince doesn't think can get over in the mid card or main event.

Consideirng that plenty of average sized guys still have spent years doing nothing indicates that size is the issue.

Like I said, why go to the furthest possible degree to do things instead of just modifying what exists. You want a new title so that others get opportunities but why not just give those same wrestlers opportunities with existing titles...TWO sets of set titles for example. Actually why make any title. It's a shame that we're now conditioned to think that titles are the only way to get people over, especially when (as stated) those titles are more easily attaintable these days.
