I finally found somewhere where Changeling is being shown

Uncle Sam

Rear Naked Bloke
Going to see it on Tuesday hopefully. This won't be another Burn After Reading fiasco. Oh no.

In other news, I found Donnie Darko for £3. Never seen it before. Will watch soon.

Wanted to see Changeling but it didn't work out.

Want to see Burn After Reading and it's on dvd.

After seeing and loving Southland Tales, I want to see Donnie Darko.

I'll be seeing it soon. I'm in the process of acquiring it. If you like it check out Southland Tales. The movie has it all: the Rock, a musical number with Justin Timberlake, and general kick assness. Just make sure that you have a basic understanding of the Book of Revelation first, heathen.

No...No, you don't...

Seen the previews? You've seen every good part, and even a few corny ones...

How the hell did the Golden Globes nominate this for movie of the year?

It's by the Coens. Therefore it is good.

I can see you are a film buff...but, you have serious explaining to do if you have blind love for the Coen Brothers. Also, while you're at it, you'll also have to explain the similar sentiments you have for Mr. One-and-a-half-trick-pony Quentin Tarantino.

Changeling is still playing in theaters here, I'd go see it if it looked remotely entertaining, rented Burn After Reading, will prolly watch it tomorrow, and Donnie Darko may be one of the strangest movies I have ever seen, still not entirely sure what the fuck is going on in parts of that movie TBH, and Southland Tales is pretty average at best

The Coens have had like 3 duds. Name one Tarantino film that isn't great.

How about Jackie Brown, both Kill Bills, and Death Race? Not to say they weren't well made (things with big budgets tend to be), but they are pretty much nothing more than rehashes of films from the 70s and 80s. Tarantino, to put it bluntly, is notorious for passing off films that people think are original but are, in reality, nothing more than plagiarizations of films that most people have never heard of.

I think you mean Death Proof, Tarantino had nothing to do with Death Race to the best of my knowledge

That's the kinda the look he was going for in those movies, Death Proof was meant to look like an old low budget grindhouse flick, and Jackie Brown was meant to look like a 70's blaxpoitation flick

First of all, it's Death Proof, not Death Race. Secondly, they are not copies of films, they are tributes to those films. In two of the films, Tarantino even includes mainstays of those films as tributes to the roles they played. Pam Grier, from Jackie Brown, was cast because she had the notorious role of Foxy Brown and that fit in perfectly with the homage to blaxpoitation films. Kill Bill included the addition of Sonny Chiba, who had been a mainstay in Japanese martial arts films for years. Death Proof is my least favorite of the three, but can hardly be called a rehash. Name a movie (besides "The Car") where a deranged stuntman kills people with his car.

Tarantino is a tribute artist and has never made a movie that wasn't at the very least a damn good movie.

becuase its not as good as everyone says it is??? I dont understand when people need that term broken down for them. Like, are you really that simple?? look up the fucking definition LOL

Rep, sir, for checking my factual error (you are right about Death Proof).

However, there is, in my opinion, a big difference between going for a certain look and virtually making the same film and just tweaking the plot and changing the characters' names. How is Jackie Brown any different from Coffy and Foxy Brown, except that it's loosely based off of an Elmore Leonard book? How is Death Proof different from 70s drive-in road flicks or Russ Meyer films (Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill! in particular), except for the fact that it didn't have gratuitous sex and women with monstrous tits (pardon my language there)?

I can respect the fact that Tarantino has so much love for the films that he allegedly pays homage to. But, there is a big difference between paying homage and being caught with your dick in your hand had these films never been made (again, pardon my language).

I never said I like Tarantino. Sure, a lot of people don't "get" him, but sometimes I don't think there's that much to get. Still, have you seen the Special Edition of Reservoir Dogs? Steel tin, motherfucker.

On a side note, actually saw Changeling tonight. Was pretty good. Need a while to process it.
