Pre-Show Stalwart
Hey I live in Ohio and HWA (old WCW and WWF developmental territory, featured on MTV "I want to be a Pro-Wrestler") has closed down.

Check out Brock Guffman's myspace for some behind the scenes stuff about it, his blog explains a lot

Now the group is called EGO Pro. Just thought I'd spread this along. ANy comments from anyone who used to watch the HWA

I followed HWA since it's inception. Les Thacher's radio show had it's roots on 1360 Homer on Wednesday nights back in the mid 90's, and I used to call in weekly to argue with them, tons of fun.

There were a bunch of pretty decent wrestlers to make their marks in HWA. Shark Boy is the best of the lot. Les was a damn good wrestling mind, but I don't think he has his hand in the company anymore. It got its start with the Pillman Memorial shows, which drew in big names from all of the major companies. I personally saw the best match of my life with Regal vs. Benoit at the 2nd show.

When WWE pulled it's developmental deal from HWA, it was dead to rights. Most of these independents simply can't survive for too long. There isn't a big market to watch recreation hall wrestling anymore. I'm honestly surprised to see that more independents aren't going belly up, because the wrestling business as a whole seems to be drying up.
