How's Your "_____ of the Year" List Coming Along?

Wade's Public Transit Bomb

Championship Contender
With the end of the year about to peep its head around the corner, many people start compiling lists that reflect on the year. I do love reading the different lists because a lot of times I am reminded of stuff I forgot and I wanna search YouTube for it; mainly because these list USUAL highlight the best of the year. They also shows how much of a difference 12 months can make..

Here are some 'common' _____ of the Year Categories (I think)

Wrestler of the Year
Rookie of the Year
Match of the Year
Promo of the Year
PPV of the Year
Most Improved
Biggest Shock
Biggest Disappointment
Biggest Gain
Biggest Lost
"Where in the hell did he come from" (This one has many names haha)

Are there any categories you usually look at if you do this?

They also shows how much of a difference 12 months can make..

Here are some 'common' _____ of the Year Categories (I think)

Wrestler of the Year AJ Styles
Rookie of the Year Wade Barrett
Match of the Year Tied between Cena vs Batista at WM 26 and Michaels vs Taker II
Promo of the Year Kane's promo on 8/20 about his "master plan"
PPV of the Year WM 26
Most Improved Kane
Biggest Shock Nexus' Invasion of Raw
Biggest Disappointment Jeff Hardy joining "They"
Biggest Gain Daniel Bryan
Biggest Lost IMO Matt Hardy
"Where in the hell did he come from" (This one has many names haha) Del Rio

Are there any categories you usually look at if you do this? Pretty much just these.

My choices are in bold. ^

Wrestler of The Year - AJ Styles (It just has to be)
Rookie of The Year - Sheamus
Match of The Year - Undertaker vs HBK (WM)
Promo of The Year - Kane's Masterplan Promo
PPV of The Year - Wrestlemania 26
Most Improved - Dolph Ziggler
Biggest Shock - Nexus. (First attack on Cena)
Biggest Disappointment - 'Janice' never being used properly on camera
Biggest Gain - Daniel Bryan being re-hired by WWE
Biggest Loss - Matt Hardy
"Where The Hell Did He Come From?" - Robbie E

Wrestler of The Year - John Cena/Randy Orton, the two most over guys on the planet right now.

Rookie of The Year - Wade Barrett, and it isn't even close.

Match of The Year - Undertaker vs HBK, Wrestlemania 26

Promo of The Year - Nothing memorable here. Enjoyed most of Flair's promo's though.

PPV of The Year - Wrestlemania 26

Most Improved - Sheamus; even though I'm not a big fan, he's improved.

Biggest Shock - Swagger winning MITB, because I didn't think it was possible.

Biggest Disappointment - The entire "Immortal" storyline.

Biggest Gain - The Nexus

Biggest Loss - HHH injury

"Where The Hell Did He Come From?" - In a good way? Wade Barrett. In a "Get the hell out of here!" kind of way, Robbie E.

Wrestler of The Year -
Randy Orton, for finally going mega-over.

Rookie of The Year -
Wade Barrett and Daniel Bryan
Barrett's transition from NXT to the top heel on Raw has been smooth as sexual chocolate (:p), and c'mon the Daniel Bryan saga has been enthralling.

Match of The Year -
Undertaker vs HBK, Wrestlemania 26.
Ye can't touch this.

Promo of The Year -
Kane's first promo after memorial day attack on his brother

This was the most powerful and surreal promo I have seen for a while. What suspension, I was so f*cking glued to this.

PPV of The Year -
Wrestlemania 26.
Again, hard to touch this, although SummerSlam was very good as well.

Most Improved -
The Miz.
There's a case of him being most improved last years as well, but he has really has come into his own this year.

Biggest Shock -
Shawn and Bret bury the screwjob

Biggest Disappointment -
The Bret vs Vince McMahon match.
Horrible execution to a great buildup

Biggest Gain -
The Nexus
Their first impact is embedded in the minds of all as one of the most shocking debuts ever.

Biggest Loss -
HBK's retirement
I know it was time, but it just hurt, that I could never see him wrestle live.

and may I be bold enough to add a segment

Mark The F*ck Out (MTFO) Moment of the Year

Bret Hart's return

After years and years of verbal spat and a very tragic turn of events, it's great when life comes full circle. Hell has a skating rink now I believe:)

Daniel Bryan is the final member of Team WWE

What a MTFO moment! Noone saw it coming and the E's execution of the whole thing, how they kept it under wraps and the reaction of the announcers...epic stuff!

I like that, although I see the ones where you've named the award after a person, then give it to THAT person just seems pointless.

I like that, although I see the ones where you've named the award after a person, then give it to THAT person just seems pointless.

Well, the World's Greatest Tag Team Award doesn't really work as well as the MVP Award, does it? Also, they were alright.

Match of the year will be a tough one, right now I've got a pretty large list of candidates. All of these are matches that I gave atleast a rating of ****1/4 to. Here's what I've got thus far:

DDT 7/25/10 Daisuke Sekimoto vs. HARASHIMA

So yeah. There's my massive working list for match of the year right now. All the other awards will take alot more thought. Still got another month of wrestling too! Plus I have to catch up on all the puro, ROH, and indies shit I missed in September and October.

Wrestler of the Year: John Cena
Rookie of the Year: Wade Barrett (though technically he'd not a rookie)
Match of the Year: (that I've seen) Daniel Bryan vs Dolph Ziggler
Promo of the Year: Wade Barrett's promo to John Cena after he joined Nexus
PPV of the Year: No clue

Biggest Gain: Wade Barrett
Biggest Loss: ROH losing Ares and Black in quick succession
Tag Team of the Year award: MCMG

Biggest Shock = MCMG's wining the tag titles

Biggest Disappointment = EV 2.0 beating Fortune

Biggest gain = Fortune

"Where in the hell did he come from" (This one has many names haha) = Daniel Bryan

Wrestler of The Year - Daniel Bryan
This is the wrestler that everyone has been following. I can't believe the things he has done in just the first year in the wwe. How could you not give it to him.

Rookie of The Year - Wade Barrett
This is easy. Most people never knew who wade barret was. Then he wins nxt and leads nexus to main event summerslam against the most over group that the wwe has to offer.

Match of The Year - Undertaker vs HBK, Wrestlemania 26
Every one will choose this probably.

Promo of The Year - hbk promo before Wrestlemania 26
Shawn is just gold on the mic. And when you add the fact that he has gone insane. Thats just a match made in mexico.

PPV of The Year - Royal Rumble
This years royal rumble was very good. Especially the royal rumble match. It was one of, if not the greatest royal rumble matches ever.

Most Improved - The Miz
He has gone from former reality star to future world champion. He is a alot better in the ring and has become more brutal and his mic work is better then its ever been.

Biggest Shock - Daniel Bryan getting fired
I was as shocked as everyone when nexus first attacked, but then i was even more shocked when they fired daniel bryan right after. He was an important part of what i thought nexus would be and then they fire him later that week.

Biggest Disappointment - The nexus
They really haven't been that entertaining since their inception. I was really excited to see what they would do with it and they have done a terrible job.

Biggest Gain - wgtt
When roh got the world's greatest tag team i was extremely happy. They were one of the best tag teams in the world. And i know with roh's tag team division that they have found a great home.

Biggest Loss - Matt Hardy
I was always a huge m'fer and thought that matt was a great talent. He has always been very entertaining and has had some of my favorite fueds.
Its a shame that he was never used right.

"Where The Hell Did He Come From?" - Alberto Del Rio
A Mexican jbl that can work. Jesus.

Wrestler of The Year - Daniel Bryan
This is the wrestler that everyone has been following. I can't believe the things he has done in just the first year in the wwe. How could you not give it to him.

Cena had three great matches with Batista, was one of the survivors at Summerslam and had a great match with Barrett at HIAC. I'll probably put Bryan fourth behind Cena, Styles, and Angle.

Some more awards I just thought up, and some vanilla ones to, um, sate your thirst:

The "Don't Let Go, Jack!" Award for Missing the Boat - MCMG Win Tag Titles

The Ear Sex Award for Best Theme Music - Sheamus' Too Many Limes

The Ear Rape Award for Worst Theme Music - Nexus' Pussy Music for *****es

The Brian Pillman Award for Going Off the Rails - Matt Hardy

The Kurt Angle II Award for Match of the Year - John Cena vs. Batista, I Quit Match

The John Cena Award for Wrestler of the Year - Daniel Bryan (even if I am left wondering where he goes from here)

The Miz Award for Biggest Sudden Improvement - Dolph Ziggler

The Frankie Kazarian Award for Most Uneven Push - Evan Bourne

The Brock Lesnar II Award for Best Newcomer - Wade Barrett (if I can't put Sheamus)

The William Regal Award for Best Diction Contrary to Popular Opinion - Wade Barrett

The Brooklyn Brawler Award for Most Underrated Wrestler - John Morrison

The "Hey, Remember Jim Ross?" Award for Best Commentator - Matt Striker

Wrestler of the Year: John Cena

Biggest Shock: Nexus
Biggest Disappointment: Jack Swagger's World Heavyweight Championship Reign
Biggest Gain: Nexus
Biggest Lost: Shawn Michaels

Wrestler of the Year - Daniel Bryan

Rookie of the Year - Daniel Bryan

Match of the Year - MCMG vs. Beer Money @ The Whole F'N Show

Promo of the Year - Happy Birthday to Rey Mysterio's Daughter

PPV of the Year - WrestleMania 26? I 'unno.

Most Improved - Ken Anderson... Still can't stand him

Biggest Shock - Nexus invades Raw for the first time

Biggest Disappointment - Rob Van Dam's TNA run

Biggest Gain - Daniel Bryan

Biggest Loss - Batista

Cena had three great matches with Batista, was one of the survivors at Summerslam and had a great match with Barrett at HIAC. I'll probably put Bryan fourth behind Cena, Styles, and Angle.
Styles just finished damn near the worst year of his career.

OMG moment of the year: Shawn Michaels gets retired. Or Randy Orton RKO's Jericho off ladder (Money in the Bank 2010)

Or the AirBourne/RKO...

20z6yxh.jpg

This really is not the worst year of AJ's career. He started it on fire and even recently, he dragged Tommy Dreamer to a good performance in their I Quit match.
