How long have you been wrestling fans?

Getting Noticed By Management
I don't know if this belongs here(I hope it does) and I ask in the old school wrestling board because I'm sure the old school fans have great stories on how they became fans.

I've been an avid fan since 1991. I actually first saw wrestling sometime in the 80s, but my parents and my grandfather kept putting in my head that this stuff was no good and that I shouldn't watch it. So for awhile I stopped. That is until 1991 when my mother's cousin told me about an event called wrestlemania 7. He was a wrestling fan and someone I looked up to so with his help I convinced my mother to let me order this show and I've been a fan since.

What's your story?

well, my brother attarcted me to wrestling at the age of 5 and the person that got me going was kane, scared the shit out of me as a youngster. So the first time i ever watched wrestling was In Your House : Unforgiven in 1998, when kane and undertaker had that legendary inferno match.. been a fan since then. I always as a kid used to flip channels repeatedly on monday nights between raw and nitro....back when wrestling was actually great.

During the boom period in the eighties, my sister (who's four years older than me, by the way) was a Hulkamanic like so many other children at that time, so I've pretty much watched wrestling as long as I can remember (my sis stopped watching by the time she was like ten though, I believe).

Anyway, my first memory is Hogan vs. Andre, but I'll always credit Sting for me becoming a die-hard fan like I am.

I've been a "fan" since I was 2. Apparently when my family watched it I would freak out over Hulk. My family got me Summerslam 90 on tape and I went through 3 copies of it from watching it so much. I have a bit of a memory being at house shows when i was 2-5. I don't remember not being a fan at any time during my life, so if the two year old story is true, for about 18 years now.

I've been watching wrestling for just under 25 years!
I first started with World Of Sport. This was a UK wrestling program with characters such as "Big Daddy" and "Giant Heystacks." Back then everyone (including the adults) thought it was real. You often got old granny's coming out of the crowd to take a shot at the heels lol.
I watched my first WWF show in 1988 which was Summerslam. And shortly started following WCW which used to be aired on terrestrial T.V. back then.

I was always an equal fan of both WWF and WCW, even through the attitude era. However, in the past few years I have realised how WWE has single handedly screwed up an entire industry.... WORLDWIDE!
Watching WCW on old tapes and You Tube, has only made me realise what we are missing. I am now a bigger fan of WCW and I don't bother watching WWE anymore.
I got onto TNA in mid 2005. It used to be shown on "The Wrestling Channel." Now I'm TNA through and through.
Here's to the future... and it's looking good from the Impact Zone...

I started becoming really into it since 1984. I was the biggest wrestling fan in the household. When wrestling was on in the 80s, I couldn't miss it. No matter what federation it was. I stopped watching it around 1992. It was getting boring, and way too predictable. I started back watching it when WCW debuted Nitro and from that point on, I followed it again. Then I stopped in 1999 when WCW was getting stupid, then I started again in 2000 when Bishoff and Russo teamed up because I thought something new was about to happen, so I watched WCW all the way until they closed. I watched WWE when they brought the invasion angle, and after seeing how Vince made WCW stars look inferior to his, I really stopped. I don't watch or follow any of the current product, but I live for old school.

Since 94. Halloween Havoc 94 was my first PPV I watched, on tape, in 3rd grade. Ric Flair Vs Hulk Hogan in a steel cage was the ME. And that was the night were the nasty boys had a falls count anywere match with Cactus Jack and Maxx Payne. ridiculousness LOL. The first tape I owned was WM 6, which I wore out completely, and the ORIGINAL fucking King of the ring, the one with FIVE fucking rounds, were JYD went over Macho drink Savage in the finals.

I've been a fan since I was bout 2. That was bout 1989 So I've been a fan for about 18 yrs now. I loved it because my grandpa and I watched it. I watched WCW and WWF both then I went to straight WWF until Hogan went heel. But I've always been a WWF fan and probably always will.

i was working with one of my best friends when i was in 8th grade(1998) and he told me his dad looked like this guy Goldberg(in retrospect he looks like Sgt Slaughter mixed with Pat Pattersons Sexual Preference) and they talked about how awesome Goldberg is blah blah blah and then the next thursday i got a call from the same friend telling me to turn it to TBS and within seconds i was hooked. i loved wcw then but now when i watch the monday night wars on wwe 24/7 i like raw much more. i have spent alot of time catching up becaue like i said i didnt start watching till 1998 but i have seen almost 300 of the roughly 393 WWE WCW TNA & ECW PPVs there have been

I've been a wrestling fan for as long as I can remeber. I think I was 3 when I can remember watching wrestling on TV for the first time. I've always been a WWF/E fan from the start. I would watch the other promotions just to see the competition, but nothing came close to the WWE.

Well it has been since I was 2 years old really. One of the few things I remember from my very childhood before age 4 or so is the Wrestlemania VI main event, Ultimate Warrior vs. Hogan. I watched it with my dad after that, and I remember thinking there were 2 Hulk Hogans because "The Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan had similar attire and hair. The next thing I really remember is the Doomsday Cage Match at Uncensored '96. Haven't missed many shows/ppv's since then.

I'm 23 now... I started watching when I was 6 going on 7 back in 1991. I got some LJN wrestling figures and started asking my dad questions about wrestling. I was invited over to my cousin's house for WrestleMania 7 and became a fan. I got some more wrestling figures and wrestling ring (hasbros) for my birthday and ordered SummerSlam 1991 which was awesome. I became a WCW fan shortly after that. I thought there was just the WWF but then I think my mom told me wrestling was on and I turn it on and none of guys I knew were on the show but I became a big fan of Sting, Ricky Steamboat and Nikita Koloff.

Hogan was and still is my favorite so when he went to WCW I followed him over there and became a much bigger WCW fan especially when Nitro and the nWo storyline started. That was the best era as a wrestling fan.

i started watching wrestling around 1974, in florida, but i cannot say i was a fan, because i cannot remember anyone who wrestled there (although there was one guy who i think looked a lot like baron von rashke) but a few years later, i was watching mid south wrestling, and loving pork chop cash, ted dibiase, buck robley, mr. wrestling II, et all. i remained a commited fan until the late 80's watching everything i could. not wwf, because i had no cable then, except tbs. then i dropped out of it for a while, mainly because i was too ashamed that people would find out. i started watching wwf in the early 90's, about the time that hogan lost the belt for good, but before he left for wcw. i became a closet fan again, watching wcw saturday night, and wwf superstars. by the time scott hall made it to wcw, i had already decided to get cable in order to see the "good shows". when the monday night wars were in full swing, i came out publicly as a fan. these days, i'm sort of disgusted with wwe's product, but watch everything else, even wew. big tna fan, still bigger roh fan these days.

I was a huge fan back in the day of the WWF, loved it how it was on free-to-air tv. I fell out of Wrestling though when The Rock retired. I lost interest altogether when Wrestlers like The Boogie Man and such came on the seen etc.. I'm now a massive fan of it though for the past 2 years thanks to Mr. Kennedy. I was watching the MITB (WM 23) and that's when I went full on for supporting Mr. Kennedy and been a fan of him since.

Last year got even better as I went to the RAW show when it came to Sydney, Australia. Got to see Mr. Kennedy in action, sooooooooo good haha.

Well in South Africa we only realy got broadcasts of wwe/f in 1995. We started geting wcw in 1999 (Both of which were 3 weeks later than the states) we recently started getting tna but they canceled it due to poor ratings (Go figure). But I've been a fan since about 1990. My dad used to go out and get the vhs tapes on the black market in the 80s. Most mainstream american products were banned by old government. The only realy american shows we got were dallas and dynasty.

Not long. I got Smackdown vs. Raw as the first game on my new system, and I liked it a lot. I realized that the real life Royal Rumble 2008 was playing one night so I ordered it and watched it, and loved it. I began watching Raw and Smackdown and have been watching every PPV since, though I might not watch Judgment Day.

Damn, i'm getting old....

I've been a wrestling fan since fall of 97. i only watched WCW, where they had wrestlers like Goldberg, Sting, DDP, Booker T, and the NWO. My friends were telling me that there's this group called the Wolfpack and you need to be apart of it and watch it on t.v.......I'm thinking.......... OKAY. So they just tell me to watch on TNT on monday and every since then i been a wrestling fan. Then i stop in spring of 98

I started liking WWE in spring of 2000 then stoped in fall in 03, then pick up again in spring of 04, but when the rock left I just said screw this! Then in Homecoming 2005 was when i became a wrestling fan again.

Oh yeah!......in 2000-2004 Rock,Austin,Shawn Micahaels,Brock lensar, Kurt Angle,Rikishi,Hardy boyz, Dudley Boyz,steve blackman,Spike,Crash,Bikerman-Undertaker,Triple H,Beniot,RVD,Big show,kane,The Godfather,Maven,Al snow,chyna,mick foley,gangrel and lita were my favorite superstars.
Now it's just HBK,HHH,Y2J,The Hardys, Undertaker, edge,Umaga,Rey mysterio and Cena who i have interest in now(Way shorter)

I actually don't remember. I know that at around 2nd grade I was Hulk Hogan for Halloween...and that was....crap, maybe 94? Idk, I was born in 87 and I know that I was a fan before 96 because that was my blowout year of becoming an intense fan (particularly with Michaels winning at WrestleMania 12).

However, around 99, when the show became "We'll give you updates on the Rock or Stone Cold, and that's it", I tuned out. Despite being a big fan of Austin and a decent fan of the Rock, I grew so incredibly tired of seeing just the two of them that I stopped watching wrestling. Then, I had heard that they turned the Undertaker into a biker, and I swore off wrestling. Around the end of 2006, a friend of mine who is a fan was telling me about how DX was back, and since Michaels is my overall favorite wrestler, I started to catching a few segments here and there. I was surprised to see that some of the guys that were low level midcarders when I was watching (like Edge) had grown so much. I was also surprised to see that a lot of the guys weren't there at all. The weekend after the Royal Rumble, when I found out that it had come down to HBK and Taker (2 out of my top 5 favorites of all time) I got hooked again. By Wrestlemania 23, I was already severely rooting for certain guys, I had done all the research I could possibly do to catch up, learning about all the atrocities (like Lesnar/Goldberg) and all the positives as well. Now, hell, I've got nearly 600 posts, I cancel plans so I can watch the 3 shows, I've got my dad (who used to watch it all the time with me, take me to shows and such when I was a kid) hooked back on it as well...insanity lol.

So I don't know...I've been a fan for about 12 years or so I guess, since I'm going to turn 21 next month, but a huge gap of that time was "the dark ages" so to speak, so its not a full 12 years lol.

i have been watching wrestling for about 12 years now. i remember runnung around when i was little doing the dx crotch chops. i remember being intriuged by H.B.K back then and still now he is my favorite wrestler. i cant remember how i started watching it, but i think it was because my cousins watched it all the time. of course wrestling was much better back then i used to watch the whole show instead of sleeping through half of it.
