How long before ECW's a 2 hour show?

I agree that 90 minutes would be perfect. Honestly, I think RAW and SD should be 90 minutes also. The reason ECW works so well is because its only 60 minutes. Its nice and quick action. TNA could learn from WWE on how to book a 1hr wrestling show. I believe there was a report that said ECW had more actual wrestling in their 60 minutes show than TNA did with 2 hours.

IF ECW would stop with the needless backstage skits, There would be no need for more time. That Washington idiot should be crossed off the list straight away, And made into a annoucer if he can't wrestle.

ECW is looking very bright these days, But creative need to stop shifting the younger talent to RAW, And Smackdown so soon. The minute they get a decent reaction either way, They are shipped away. They need to let people have longer runs there, Like CM Punk had. I would consider adding a midcard title to ECW, But then the show would really feel crowded.

Sorry I was babbling there, In short ECW doesn't need more time, It needs better time managment.

I think it is more likely that ECW will be cancelled altogether before it expands. They will pick the pieces that are worth a damn and release the rest. I don't agree with it, but it is more than possible. The ratings are extremely low compared to the others(not including Superstars, which I also find myself looking forward to these days) and I wouldn't be surprised to see them give up on it. I like ECW, but in the big picture, it really isn't a huge deal to Vince.

Those are fighting words Mr...

Simple fact here is ECW is one of the best shows the WWE has and they will do whatever it takes to protect it, think about this for a second, it may not be the highest rated show out there but it is the highest rated show on scyfy and has proved to be a huge reason why NBC Universal changed the premise of the channel, they wanted to make the channel more rounded and not subjectable to just science fiction and ECW does that.

I remember before people on Scifi where kicking up a stink because ECW was being braught onto the channel, but the fact is it works, I couldn't see ECW without Scyfy, and with the new talent initiative in place Vince knows the brands worth look at the guys who came out of the brand and see how they progressed

John Morrison - Upper Midcarder coming from two Tag team title reigns and one intercontinental title reign and a former ECW champion.

CM Punk - Former ECW champion and winner of the World heavyweight title on three seperate occassions, Mr Money In the Bank Twice and former Ic and tag team champion.

The Miz - Former Two time Tag team champion and has come out of an interesting feud with Cena working his way to the United states championship which will happen sooner then later me thinks.

Mark Henry - Former ECW champion and now a huge babyface on Raw, the guy has gone leaps and bounds from when he was on the WWE's endangered list.

Tommy Dreamer - If it wasnt for ECW, Tommy would never have had such a resurgence in regards to his career winning the ECW championship and becoming the face of the brand, it was one of the best stories in 2009 IMO.

Thats just a few, there is a load more talent i havent named but ECW by far is important in grooming stars for their eventual run on smackdown and raw and by far has becoming something of a garp between developmental and the main wwe roster, so to say vince doesnt care is truely an exaggeration otherwise he wouldn't push anyone on the roster at all, instead he helped resolved the lack of star power by giving them christian which was a huge salvation for the brand itself in regards to the fact he was apart of one of the hottest feuds in the WWE.

the show needs an extra half hour to give more talent a try and hopefully help expand the brand into something more, I would love to see a secondary title put into place in hopes that the roster expands more and more developmental talent come on to the brand itself, they dont have to have the belt on ppvs just have it regularly defended on the show and leave the ECW title for ppv defenses only, it would actually make it seem more important then the other two world titles.

I hope that the brand survivies and does what the old ECW could not actually keep going for the considerable future.

ECW needs to go 90 minutes, if for no other reason because the entire roster rarely gets seen. I can't remember when DJ Gabriel was last on. If they stick the likes of Festus and Jimmy Wang Yang on there and maybe a revamped Hardcore or European title, the brand could really flourish. There's no reason why, if given a serious roster, ECW cannot more firmly establish itself as a brand in its own right. The only problem is that it would make the Smackdown tapings a bit too long probably.

That would be awesome. Not only would young stars be given a chance to make it on TV but the story lines could be a little more deeper. But the chance of this happening is rather slim. Adding 30 minutes for ECW is a great idea. But do you guys think Vince would care? I hope he does but I dont think so. I actually want to see more of the Golddust vs Sheamus feud. And believe it or not Abraham Washington. Yeah I was a hater lol, but he made me into a fan. This guy has talent and its too bad its not being showcased enough. Like most of the guys in ECW. Time will tell and hopefully ECW will produce 2 other stars, like they did in the past.

I don't think ECW will ever be a 2 hour show for several reasons...

1. Not a deep enough roster
2. Only 1 championship
3. I don't think SyFy will want to add another hour of wresting no matter how much it draws ratings wise compared to their other programming.

If there are other things to add please let me know. Brain is kinda fried at the moment. But ECW is a developmental show and I think 1 hour is good enough for the young green superstars.

ECW should go 2hrs in the near future if they get another title on their roster and Scyfy should give it another hr cuz it draws ratings and plus 1hr of ECW isn't good enough with all the guys u could try to push on their to prepare them for any title that ECW could add in the futre

ECW should go 2 hours when they add a title like the TV Championship (bringing back) and sign more ROH wrestlers that they could work with. Its interesting to see ECW as an OVW promotion because to me that's how its becoming. ECW would be better if they really made all their matches under extreme rules as that draws more and would bring back old ecw fans.

ecw has no divas! they have 3 divas on the show! they could expand the 30 mins and have some more divas matches ...what are they gonna do have the bella twins turn on each other ...and that is definatley something i dont want to see !!

i was thinking about that the other day. ECW Extreme Championship Wrestling i dont see whats extreme about it. this week the most extreme thing was probably sheamus attacking shelton benjamin and untill ecw goes extreme it will remain a 1 hour show

ECW will not be a 2 hour show anytime soon if ever in my opinion. The show if for mostly developmental stars to get exposure and then rise through the ranks. It is there to get the new guys to try their stuff out and see how the fans react. It's been getting very good as of late, but does it deserve another hour? No. There isn't enough wrestlers on the roster to maintain 2 hours and of the what 15 or so guys, I just don't think the crowd could get into seeing all of them every week. ECW is doing a good job for what it is and it should stay this way, at least for now!

ECW can't grow it's time-slot, because they do not have the caliber of talent to pull off a 90 minute show every week, and if they signed/called up more talent, then everybody would get lost in the shuffle, and unable to move up the card. However the main reason they can't expand their time-slot to 90 minutes or 2 hours is simply business. WWE would have to do 1 of 3 things in order to expand ECW
  1. keep ECW taping with Smackdown, and making the Tuesday tapings 4 or 4.5 hours long each week (2 for SD, 30 for Superstars, 1.5-2 for ECW). Doing this would ensure that the crowd would be dead by the end of the taping, which is bad for the TV audience.
  2. Split the ECW taping between Monday RAW tapings and Tuesday Smackdown tapings. This would be nearly impossible to pull off, having a full ECW written, start taping it, then stopping mid-way through and finishing it the next day.
  3. Split ECW off into a third brand. This would be a fatal blow to ECW. ECW doesn't have the talent pool to run their own house shows. They tried to when ECW first came back (running shows in small venues, no less), and they failed miserably (I know, I had tickets to a show and they canceled it on me). Even if they had the talent, WWE would be spreading themselves VERY thin when it comes to running shows in towns (they could potentially run 3 shows in 1 day). They would probably start running towns too often for them to be successful shows, and that could ultimately prove to be a big hit to WWE's business. The only good thing that could happen if WWE were to split ECW into a third brand would be if each show ran fewer house shows a week. Unfortunately, the negatives to splitting into a third band far outweigh the positives.
All in all, ECW is a great show right now, and as the old saying goes:
The Old saying said:
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
So why are we trying to fix ECW if it works?
