How can Evan Bourne be saved?

The Wolf

Pre-Show Stalwart
Last week I asked this question about Ted Jr. and I went well so I am going to see what is said this time. NOTE: Look for more in General Wrestling so I can use wrestlers from others shows and companies?

How can Evan Bourne be saved or is it to late?

Personally I believe the best way to do this is to turn him heel at Rey's expense. We have the Rumble and Mania coming up so either one would work. What I believe would work best though is the Draft have Evan traded him and Rey team up for a little then have him blame Rey for loses and holding him back.

Agree Disagree Suggestions.

I'm going to break the inevitable chain of "TURN HIM HEEL!!!" before it gets out of hand. I can't stand that people seem to think of a heel turn as a cure-all.

How can Evan Bourne be saved? What is he in danger of? He's not in danger of being released. He's injured, but not to an extent where he won't come back. He'll be back in a few months, and he'll be a face, which is what he should be. He's not in danger of anything.

He had (and still has, upon his return) a great spot. I don't get the thought process that he's not valuable or not being used correctly just because he's not in the main event. He's a small high-flyer. That might be, generally speaking, the worst combination of size and style for a heel. He's a natural face, plain and simple. He gets the crowd excited, and has a decent following. Not to mention, he's relatively new, and has a lot of time to rise through the ranks. He doesn't need to be in the main event to be used correctly.

He needs saved? dude punk is the one who "injured" him, punk leads the nexus, there ya go he'll be a face aginst the nexus that gets him noticed if hes leading the charge with cena against the biggest stable in the wwe, then afterwards throw him in a us or ic title feud, bam hes fine

I really don't think Evan Bourne can be saved. He is just not main event material. He just doesn't seem like a beleiveable champion and his boring mic skills don't help that all. Now he might be able to help out the mid card. He needs to have a run with the IC title and US title. I would really like to see matches between Bourne and Bryan or Bourne and Kingston. Thats all I see in him. Nothing more than mid card.

let john cena be a mentor role to him. have evan lose matches for weeks and goes to cena for help. cena can manager him and elevate him to main event status over time.

How to save Evan Bourne? In my opinion the best way for WWE to save him, is to go ahead and wish him luck in his future endeavours. This way he can go to TNA and possibly become relevant in their X-Division. In the WWE, he just isn't going to be main event material and I really do not think he is considered goood enough for a WWE mid-card title.

Just my thoughts...

I don't ever see Evan becoming World Champion, and someone else on a different thread somewhere said, its okay for not everyone to become World Champion. I agree with that. Evan Bourne can still have a great career being more aggressive and having different sorts of accomplishments. I loved Evan's program with Jericho. I do believe Evan can truly stand up and show us he's not a weakling or the ultimate underdog since Rey.

Someone above said, "turning someone heel is not the cure all" something along those lines. I agree. Turning someone heel wont ever fix EVERYTHING or sometimes anything at all. But... I do think a heel turn for little Evan is needed.

Personally I'd like to see Evan as a face teaming with Daniel Bryan before turning heel on him. Then a program between these two. I think its a great way to repackage Evan Bourne.

First of all when I say saved I mean title pictures not just main event.

Second some one said have him fued with Kofi or Bryan but cant see him in the title picture so can you see Kofi and Bryan and if so why not Bourne

Size and style are not reasons for him not to be turned or not to be in the title picture.

Everyone loves Rey in the title pic so what is the difference plus the only reason I suggested a heel turn the people I would love to see him fued with are faces Rey Kofi Morrison so you cant turn everyone hell to keep him face I think they will be great matches and fueds to elevate his carrer

I think the major issues with Evan Bourne (and probably the reasons why he's never really been given a green light push) are two fold. First, there is the obvious one: his size. I've already expressed my full opinion here and by now, it's pretty much an unwritten rule of the WWE that, unless the fan reaction is so overwhelming that it's inevitable, you must be of at least a certain size to win any main event title. Evan is undersized. Enough said.

The second has to do with injuries. If Evan managed a run that was long enough without getting hurt, he might be pushed more in the future. He pretty much gets hurt before any push of any kind can truly get underway. He's smaller, therefore has to be riskier in order to keep fan interest, and thus injuries will happen more often, but that's the way it is.

To save him, if the WWE is serious enough about him to do so, there's really only one way: have him win matches. That's it, end of story. If he can't win any matches, the audience tends to see this, they find his matches predictable and therefore not worth watching. If you wanna save Bourne, give him a little dominance in the ring.

The guy is over and popular. He doesn't need to be saved because he is fine. He will not turn heel because the guy is a natural face.

This is a horrible idea and an absolute waste of time.

Upon his return Bourne should go after Punk. And hopefully get a look in for a title because he is very much good enough.

EVERYONE in the WWE likes Evan Bourne. Jericho, Cena, Orton have all said that he should be pushed more. He tagged with Cena in a Raw main event. He had a fued with Chris Jericho in which he was put over Chris. Then he got injured, he'll be back though and he'll pick up where he left off.

However when he comes back he should not go over Punk and Nexus , that would be awful for him, there's no way as a small guy that he could ever be anything near a threat to the collective Nexus. He'll just get squashed and that's not good for him at all. By all means have him go against them in some sort of 'team' but not on his own,and personally I think the 'random team' Vs Nexus has been done to death.

I'd maybe like to see Bourne and a tag partner go for the tag titles. I think that in NXT 5 he should be Tyler Blacks pro..

For a little guy with no mic skills or gimmick I think he is doing fine. I also don't think turning him heel is a good idea as his biggest asset is his exciting offense on comeback's.

When he comes back I could see him and Mark Henry maybe winning a Tag title together, but I think a shift to Smackdown would offer Bourne the best chance to shine.

Agree with everything here except Evan turning heel. I think Bryan would do great in a heel role, if the team must be split by face/heel betrayal or whatever. How much more aggressive and awesome would Bryan be? I think a lot.

Evan Bourne doesn't need to be saved, in my opinion. He's sidelined with an injury - that's fine (well, not really, but it happens). It's not like he's languishing as a jobber. He's a fan favorite and while I don't really ever see him winning the top title, I think he'll be a great mid-carder. Akin to a Kofi Kingston, I think Evan would do good as a US/IC champion and he's definitely got "show-stealer" in him.

If anything, move him to SmackDown, as I feel that roster might provide more exciting pairings - Ziggler, Kofi, of course Mysterio, Swagger to a certain degree... On Raw, there's really only Punk, Gabriel, and Bryan that I think I'd want to see Evan face off against. Well, Tyson Kidd kinda.

Before the Draft though, we NEED a Gabriel/Bourne feud. Evan Bourne is the good guy with a backflip finisher (see: Shooting Star Press) with hair that goes up and not a hair on his chinny-chin-chin. Justin Gabriel is the bad guy with down-hair, some scruff/5pm shadow, and a front-flip finisher (see: 450 Splash). It's almost like they've planned out that Gabriel is Bourne's evil twin, doing the exact opposite of what Evan does.

Bourne is fine the way he is: a small, mid-card high flyer, capable of pulling off ridiculous spots, and putting on fun matches. He won't ever be super over. He won't ever be Champ. He'll be a guy like Rey, minus the titles. Kids will always love him, and if he stays healthy, he'll stick around as long as he wants.

evan is still new and loved just because hes a high flyer and a heel turn might kill him like it happend to primo but it can always happen. anyways he has doing good teaming with cena and orton but got injured :( i still think he has a good spot

The easiest way to do it would be to have him feud with the RAW Nexus. Align him with Cena for a couple matches against the RAW Nexus. Boom, just like that, he's back in the forefront.

Everyone always bitches and moans about how over crowded the main event picture is, so why would Evan Bourne need to be saved? The only small, high-flyer who has been a main event staple is Rey Mysterio and he's the exception rather than the rule. WWE is looking for younger, more athletic wrestlers. Maybe that means that they're going to give some credence to the "light-heavyweight/cruiserweight" division in the near future. Lord knows that once Vince launches his WWE Network that he'll need programming. A lucha-libre influenced show revolving around guys like Bourne and Justin Gabriel that have a great moveset and a killer finisher could be a great cornerstone to build a division off of. Evan Bourne doesn't need saving, if anything, he's saving the scene for the mid-card high flyers. It's a mid-card that makes a main event look special, you want guys building the card and building excitement that know what they're doing.

I don't really see him leaving anytime soon but I do agree something needs to change for him to stay or become more successful. His popularity will not last unless he does get in the main event, because fans like to see fresh new up and comers during this part of the show. Anyone who stays at that level to long, the fans will lose interest and they will fade away Carlito, helms, shelton, etc.
The only way I see him at a main event level is as a heel where he can use his wits to cheat which would account for his lack of size (like a Edge type gimmick) He would have to develope some mic skills to pull it off and thats much easier as a heel as well.

Saved?? He is totally over with a crowd as a face, they love him. Watch, he will get a huge pop when he returns, which looks to be at the Rumble.
