Excellence of Execution
I've been noticing more and more lately just how impressive this guy really is in a TNA ring. The guy, first of all, is freakin' huge. When I went to Lockdown last month, and saw the guy live, I was astounded just how monstrous this man really is. But, what I like most about this guy, is he's not some slow lumbering dimwit character. He plays a monster character, but is very agile.

He's also scared of nothing. Going back to BFG '06 when he jumped off the top of the cage and completely missing Styles, or back at Lockdown where he did a splash from the top of the cage on a table, the guy is willing to give his body up for the business.

He also has a very impressive set of fairly unique moves, which, in TNA, works wonderfully since he is usually so much bigger than most of the guys he wrestles. I think he really gives LAX a boost of credibility and makes the team of Homicide and him a great tag team with the classic little man, big man team.

So, what are your feelings on Hernandez? Good big man? Good wrestler? Can't stand him? Overrated? Underrated? How do you feel, and why?

I absolutely agree with you. I am a huge fan of LAX in general as Hernandez and Homicide have really good chemistry. I have been trying to catch an Indie show where Hernandez wrestles in a singles match so I can see just how good he really is.

I will agree as well with you both. I am also a huge fan of LAX as i just love homicide and Hernandez. Hernandez is really good for a big man his size and can really move in the ring. Though he does seems to be a bit of a hot head as has been sadi but he work with most people. Though I doubt he can really carry a technical match, but he is getting better each week and i expect great things from him espcially if he stays in TNA.

Why would he even try to carry a technical match? The guy is 6'2" 295 with arms the size of my thigh. He shouldn't be doing technical matches. He should be doing brawling matches, and beating the hell out of people with the viciousness of rabid wolf. And, for the most part, that's what he's doing.

And, I found myself thinking tonight how much I would like to see a Tomko vs. Hernandez match. I'm thinking it would be quite a good match.

What I was saying is that "i doubt he can carry a technical match" is that he could maybe back in the day but now of course not that is not his style. Brawling matches are good just nowadays in wrestling you dont get to see that much often, but I do love how he can modify himslef to work with smaller guys like with Daniels and Styles that time he did awesome work.

Hernandez instead of takeing on Tomko i actually find myself wanting him to take on Rhyno in a match as him and rhino would be a hell of a brute strength match

Because becoming more technically sound will make him special. Alot of big guys make the mistake of allowing themselves to be pigeon holed as simply "a brawler". Don't get me wrong, brawling is entertaining as hell, and I like your idea of Hernandez vs. Tomko, but I think Hernandez has the potential to be something bigger than your typical big man.

Fair enough. I just don't think a technical match for a man like this is the way to go, at least not as long as he's in TNA. Maybe if he was in the WWE, it would make more sense, but not now.

Anyways, back to the original point...Hernandez vs. Rhino would probably be interesting to most people, but Rhino has never appealed to me personally. I don't know what it is really, I just never have been able to get into him.

So, I think I would definitely be more interested in Tomko vs. Hernandez.

Here's my biggest question. What is the guy like on the stick? Can he use a mic?

I haven't seen much of his matches but I have like for the most part what I have seen, but Since when is being 6' 2" considered a Big man? That is shorter than me, Im about 6' 3"-6' 4" and I know I wouldn't be called a big man. I don't know about mic work but if you are good in the ring you don't always need the mic work to get you over big time. But I expect that he needs a bit of coaching in Mic work, which I will assume he is getting a bit of from Konnan, so it is only a matter of time before we see him out in a singles career.

I have to say that i think Hernadez has proved me wrong, when i first saw him i thought he was going to be slow, sluggish and painful to watch. I'm thinking of people like Bull Buchanon,Luther Reigns and even Tomko(Though he is improving).

However i have to say that i have been nothing but impressed with the big guy, his in ring ability can not be questioned and he has shown several times that he is more than just a brawler, his dive off the cage i also remember him diving over the top rope recently and because he is so big it makes these moves seem even more spectacular than if your average size x-division wrestler did it.

The LAX matches against team 3D have been entertaining, i think that there run of matches should be against a team of smaller guys, two x-division guys not goin for that title. They should do this for two reasons firstly Homicide will be able to do the Gringo killer which i havnt seen in a while because team 3D were to big. Also TNA could really turn Hernandez into a monster heel, a border toss to the outside through a table on jay leathal will get him some serious heat from the crowd

A couple things about him being a big man.

1) When compared to the majority of talent in TNA, Hernandez is a big man

2) The guy is 295 pounds. That's pretty big

3) Big man is not just a description, it's also a style. Big men don't have to be a certain height to be considered a big man.

I would consider Hernandez a big man.

Actually to truely be considered a big man he would either have to be over 300 pounds by a fair distance if he is short just over 6 foot, or be around 7 foot about 6' 10' would be my height area for clasifying big men rather than weight being the main component, its like I wouldn't call Tomko a Big Man even though he may fall into those categories you have put down.

Well you are right when you are talking about TNA wrestlers. Though for most bigman is like 6'6'' and beyond. Though Hernadez is a big boy and i get where your coming from.

The mic work for him is prolly a not up to standards but having a guy like konnan speak fo rhim as this point is great and if he getting coached up by Konnan in the back then he can greatly improve there. As much as we hate to admit that being able to work the mic is a must in the business today. Though I liek to see TNA branch him out a bit since LAX looks to be out of the tag team picture for awhile. Have Hernandez get a singles feud going and have Homcide go in the X-division for a bit. But Hernandez potential is off the scales.

Well, we'll save the "what makes a big man, a big man" conversation for another time.

Let's just say that Hernandez is pretty impressive, at least according to the few people who have posted so far.

Is there anyone who feels different?

Look at that! Something we agree with slyfox :D

LAX is one of the best teams I've seen in years, and while I'm more of a fan of Homicide, Jay Hernandez is fuckin' amazing as well. It's a shame they've gotten stuck in a terrible feud with Team 3D.

LAX would be perfect for WWE, with Konnan still as their spokesperson of course. LAX are always one of the major reasons I tune into TNA.

I do infact enjoy a bit of LAX, and especially a bit of the suicidal Hernadez, he loves it, he will attempt anything even though he is a "big man".

all you got to do is watch any of the LAX vs AJ and Danils feud to re-alise that in a few years and with some work on his mic skills this guy could go far.

As seemed to mentioned alot in the thread...yea its a shame they are stuck in a feud with 3d.

I watched their match last night with Christian and Tomko and I have to say that they are the best tag team in wrestling right now. WWE or TNA. Homicide and Hernandez are both great wrestlers and they compliment eachother very well. If Hernandez goes off on a singles career, he has to develop a personality. I have never seen him talk.

I'm actually kind of on the fence about Hernandez at this point. I've seen some shining moments with the guy (Cage match against A.J. and Daniels?), but I've also seen some moments where his style didn't work that well (3D). Granted, the latter may be the fault of 3D, but in the end, I do think that Hernandez does have a lot of potential. However, looking at his frame, he could stand to put the doughnuts down and get rid of the belly by upping his cardio activity and watching what he jams in his yapper. Otherwise, he'll end up as useless and immobile within the next decade as Glen Jacobs. I did enjoy his performance on the last Impact episode against Christian and Tomko. I do think that they laid the match out so that it make him look weak. I also would've included at least one spot with an elementary staredown between Tomko and Hernandez. On the whole, though, I think he's doing great for LAX. But like Homicide, I think they need to get him up to snuff on mic skills if he's going to progress. There is only one silent beast in TNA and Abyss already has that market cornered. They can't depend on K-Dawg forever. But for right now, though, they're doing alright.

I personally cant judge. I've not seen any of his single stuff out of TNA other than a Ladder match. I think if your working with Homicide, Style, Daniels etch your going to look pretty good. But I'm not unimpressed with him. I think he certainly has potential. And I like how he look's huge in TNA. Despite the fact he's no taller than myself. He wouldn't look anything special in WWE. The like's of Lance Cade and the tall bloke from Cryme Tyme would dwarf him. But I'll reserve my judgement until he goes on his inevitable singles run. He'll either sink or swim.

he's like a breath of fresh air to me, a big man that can move wow. Yeah but LAX is the best thing in TNA to me although they lost their titles I still think they are a perfect team. Konnan on the mic, Hernandez the powerhouse and Homicide we I know about him.

I'm pretty impressed with the Big Man thus far. Granted, he's a big man by TNA standards, he would be middle of the pack if he was in WWE, so it's hard to judge if he could play the role of the smaller guy there.

Him and Homicide play off of each other so well. They are the perfect tag team right now. They generate tons of heat just by being themselves, its insane. With Konnan as their spokesman, it keeps him off the mic and the possibility of him sounding like a complete idiot are gone.

U think Hernandez looks huge and good in TNA? You shoulda seen him when he wrestled Onxy in NWA Wildside. Both men were huge, musclewise and greatly outmassed the majority of the Wildside roster. And yet both put on a pretty good technical match.
