Rats, deleted the other thread before I read that Macca, sorry.

This is far and away the most shocking news story of the year. I am in awe. Utter, wild, bewildered awe. My world does not make sense anymore. Everything is crashing down around me. Chaos, everywhere. Darkness approaches. I no longer want to live on this crazy planet, goodbye cruel world.

Never fear xfear, my shrieking damsel in distress, Macca used the Edit Button and it was effective!!

Tell me when he was wrong. I might actually decide to care.

I would rather they take the chance on a young kid and fail absolutely miserably in every possible sense of the word than not even take that chance and stick to the boring, business-as-usual, irrational and illogical booking philosophy this company has utilized for years now. Because guess what? Kurt Angle won't be wrestling for TNA in ten years (fuck he might not even be wrestling for them in 5 years). Robert Roode, most likely, will. And he won't be able to draw shit for them, because they never took the chance to actually fully elevate him and roll the dice.

Play it safe, sure. Why not? WCW played it safe, that was their business credo, why push young guys like Benoit and Guerrero when we can just push the same guys who've been on top for the last decade? Hey it worked before, it should still work now, right? What's that, that's a shit long-term business plan that will destroy us eventually? Pfft, we'll worry about that shit when WCW is celebrating Starrcade 43 in the year 2027! For now, put that title on Hogan! Put Randy Savage in half the main events of 1999! Push the young guys? Fuck that, we've got a match with Jay Leno and Hulk Hogan to book! Celebrities and wrestlers fighting drew in 1984, it has to draw in 1999!"

There's a difference between playing it safe and flat out doing it for the money. Hogan did nothing more than his job as a consultant and spokesperson for TNA. There's no money-making gambit here, so why do people believe Hogan wasn't being genuine. The man came out in generic gear and the Beer Money theme. I'm in no rush to see him as champion nor am I opposed to Jeff Hardy being rebuilt. Albeit if he stays clean. What truly irks me is how people jump on this as it was Hogan being a dick for the sake of it and not him saying the truth in a blunt way. Yeah, he dissed AJ as well. But at the same time, he was right. Why was Hogan brought in to speak of behalf of the TNA roster? Why can't they do it themselves?

Meanwhile, there's people calling "TNA is dead" again like last year. I don't mean you, but look around. He says 2 months aren't enough and Roode needs grooming and people are already proclaiming death. Taking everything away from last nights show.

:disappointed: Hulk Hogan, you sad sad son of a bitch. My inner five year old is crying about how much this man is a total fuck up at this point. Hulk Hogan, just go away, brother.

I haven't watched TNA in the last while,so I wasn't very invested in the feud therefore I am not as mad as everyone else. But, I must say I don't like this decision.

Impaler plus 1. Shame to hear they did not take advantage of what I would imagine is their most watched PPV (that people spent $40 on) of the year and give everyone a feel good moment from someone in the prime of their career.

What does make sense is getting rid of heel Hogan and making him a face again. He will be more valuable to the TV product as a face.

Hogan's right in this instance. Roode in mediocre is every conceivable way, imo.

Also, Hogan didn't make this decision to benefit himself... he truly thinks it's the best route for TNA to go at this point in time, IF this is all true. I don't see the big deal.

Just out of curiosity, then, why do you think they picked him to win the BFG Series? If the people at TNA feel as you do and they think he is only mediocre, shouldn't they have picked someone else to win the several month process which was the BFG series? Surely they have someone on their roster good enough to fill this role, if not they're really in trouble.

Also, what makes you so sure that Hogan didn't make this decision to benefit himself and/or his cohorts? It's not like he hasn't put his own personal interests, and those of his inner sanctum, ahead of the best interests of the company who employs him, before.

Roode might be mediocre, but why waste the last 3 or 4 months with the Bound for Glory series? That's on TNA. If Roode was the man, they should have done more with him.

Hogan is convinced Jeff Hardy is the man. Really? I mean, who honestly would want to put all their eggs in that basket once again. Roode isn't exactly the "young" face of TNA, but Jeff Hardy is pushing 35. Yes I know that's the age of some of the biggest guys to win titles yadda yadda, but the business has changed since then, and it has skewed a lot younger.

Roode's also 35.

Jeff Hardy has also been a known commodity for 12 years at this point. He's a very old 35, 3 years removed from his peak. He's not only on the backside of his career, he's one fuck up away from being completely irrelevant.

Robert Roode (if TNA thinks he's the future) is still a new fresh face to the main event scene. There is more upside in Roode then Jeff Hardy at this point.
