I think that this was the perfect oppurtunity for MVP to win this match. The Bash isn't exactly a big time PPV, so why not give MVP a chance in a sort of "test run" title match. Obviously he wouldn't win, but the WWE has to find out if he has what it takes to be in the Main Event at some point.
Instead, you just get a continuation of a Triple H and Randy Orton feud that has been really boring ever since Wrestlemania. They are going to wrestle at The Bash and probably again at Summerslam. Instead of having the match at The Bash they should have had Orton screw HHH out of the Battle Royale vicotry someway making their match at Summerslam that much better.
