Help with Survivor Seires DVD's

The Fabulous Rougeau's

Championship Contender
Over the past few years I have been working on my WWE video library with a goal of having all the big 4 WWE PPV's on DVD/Bluray. I wasable to complete the Rumble's, Mania's and SummerSlams with relatve ease beause of the anthologies that WWE put out.

However, when it comes to the Survivor Series things are a little different. WWE only released anthologies covering the beginning to 96. That left alot open. I gave up hope on WWE finishing the anthology so I recently picked up the anthologies they released along with individual dvd's/blurays of the rest. However I ran into a few problems. WWE has not released the 97-99 events on DVD in America. And the 2000 and 2001 one's carry a big price tag. Also while 2010 Survivor Seires was released in bluray, the 2011 was not.

As a resuly I did a little searching and found the 2011 Survivor Series was released on bluray in the UK. It seems as though it will play in America but I am not sure. Can someone confirm? Also can someone comfirm if the same is true for the 2011 SummerSlam? Also there is a UK release known as tagged classics. They have one DVD with the 97 and 98 Survivor Series and another with the 99 and 2000 Survivor Series. Same question, does anyone know if they will work in America?

Thanks for the help.

I have run into the same problem with Survivor Series. I found 2001 on dvd and 2000 is pretty expensive. 97,98,99 only on the UK tagged classic as you said. What I have come to understand that the only way they will play in America is if you have a region free DVD player. I would also assume the same goes for Bluray as well. I have never tried to look up my dvd player, but I am sure if you did it would tell you if it is region free or what region dvds or blurays will play in it. In case you don't know US and Canadian dvds are region 1. Not sure what UK's are, but I think I have answered the question that you need.

After some more searching on my part I came across a website 220-electronics, that converts bluray players into region free players for both blurays and regular dvd's.

What I plan on doing is picking up one of these players, along with the UK tagged classic Survivor Series' and 2011 bluray SummerSlam and Survivor Seires.

I will provide updates when I get everything in.

Update:

Got my bluray player from 220-electronics. A few days after I placed my order, I was called by a rep letting me know that the player I ordered was out of stock. They gave me two options. Either get the next level up player for that brand no charge , or go to a 3D player for an extra 30 dollars. As I'm not a fan of the whole 3D, I chose the first option and a few days later recieved the player. This player is both region free for dvd's and bluray's. Still waiting on the UK tagged classics Survivor Series' and the UK bluray SummerSlam and Survivor series to test it out. I did pop in my blurays, and the player works just fine so no reason to believe it won't be the same for the UK disc's.

I will update again when I get the UK disc's.

Update:

Got the uk bluray 2011 SummerSlam and Survivor Series along with the uk tagged classic dvd's of the 97-01 Survivor Series. I am happy to export that both the bluray and dvd's pay just fine on the region free player I picked out.
