Hell In A Cell: Intercontinental Championship Match

C.M.

WrestleMania Main Event

“Because in life there are winners, there are losers…”

Those were the distinctive words uttered by WWE Hall of Famer Howard Finkel at the start of every edition of “The Dirt Sheet,” hosted by Intercontinental Champion John Morrison. (WATCH)

Clearly, Morrison has been one of life’s “winners” as of late. The Friday Night Delight enjoyed a career-changing win over Rey Mysterio on SmackDown to capture Intercontinental gold. (PHOTOS) And, The Guru of Greatness is now host of yet another video special, “The Palace of Wisdom.” (WATCH)

Although tempting for those in the WWE Universe who dislike him, it would be inaccurate to put Dolph Ziggler in life’s “loser” column. The youngster has shown serious passion in 2009.

At both SummerSlam (PHOTOS) and Night of Champions (PHOTOS), Ziggler gave Mysterio a serious run for his money, improving his game each time.

Now, a frustrated Ziggler is chomping at the bit to claim what he feels is rightfully his, while cool Mr. Morrison enjoys his time at the top, mocking “Mr. Ziggles” whenever the opportunity arises.

Come Hell in a Cell, both of these cocky young Superstars will collide in what has the makings for a classic encounter.

Will Morrison keep what he took from Mysterio in what he called one of his greatest matches ever? Or, will the fired up Ziggler finally get what he has been scratching and clawing for?

Find out who will walk away Intercontinental Champion at Hell in a Cell, live on pay-per-view on Sun., Oct. 4 at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT.

I dont see Morrison losing the IC title so soon after winning it, so Morrison wins, probably by DQ

I know Morrison just won the belt, and he put on one hell of a match with Rey on Smackdown a couple of weeks ago, but I really want Ziggler to win this match. He's been chasing the IC title since NOC, and I think it's time for him to win the championship.

I foresee Maria somehow getting involved in this match and causing a distraction for Ziggler with a Morrison win. I don't think Ziggler is just quite ready for the IC strap just yet and Morrison just got it. However, these two should put on a hell of a match as this is one of the better matches on the card.

Watching Smackdown on Saturday the Spanish announcers billed the match as a Hell in the Cell match hopefully it was a "whoops" by them, but I also think its too early for Morrison to lose the belt, he'll probably win by DQ when Mr. "Ziggles" gets frustrated and decks him with a chair, or maybe Mysterio plays a role. However I'm starting to think that with whats been going on between Maria and Melina, they might get involved in the overall feud.

for all of u, this next PPV, much like the last one, will be a first as well... they (the WWE) are billing this PPV, as that every match will be contested in the HITC... but anyway, i agree with HHHKing... this should be one hell of a match, and i hate to say this, but i think that "Perfection", aka "Mr. Ziggles", will walk away from this match-up, the NEW IC champion...

I don't know about this one. It would really hurt Ziggler in my opinion to lose another match for the IC title. A good showing can get you over without needing to win the match but losing three title shots in a row is really pushing it.

I think there are a few scenarios here:

1. Rey returns, setting up a three way match for the strap in which Ziggler pins Mysterio. Therefore Morrison is not hurt by the switch and Ziggler gains some much needed credibility.

2. Ziggler cheats and wins the belt. Morrison was cheated, does not look weak and Ziggler gets that aforementioned credibility boost.

3. Ziggler cheats and gets disqualified. This would lead to a triple threat with Rey Rey at the next PPV which I think Ziggler will win.

4. Ziggler wins clean. They are trying to push Morrison but it would hurt too much to pin Mr. Ziggles clean for a third straight title shot, even against a different champion. Wouldn't hurt Morrison to be pinned once would it? I mean he isn't John Cena :P.

All roads lead to Ziggler in my opinion. Should be a good bout one way or the other. But if Morrison does retain I don't see him holding it for more than the next month. Ziggler needs the mid card push and Morrison is destined for greater things.

i dont know this one is too close too call...... this 2 are my favorites reasons to watch smackdown lately..... but you hve two choices...... Morrisons reign as IC champion has been too short to be ended now but on the other side you has lost 2 ppv in a row against rey rey..... in my opinion morrison will win..... but i WANT Mr Ziggles to win the title.... i mean at SS he had the match of the night in my opinion..... and he has been improving a lot lately and he DOES remind me from a young Mr Perfect.... and as much as i like JOMO i dont think he will and should walk away with the gold at HIAC......

The title won't change hands at this PPV, but perhaps Bragging Rights or Armaggedon since I know it won't be at Survivor Series. John Morrison is being built up to be the next main event level guy in the WWE. A clean win of Dolph Ziggler over him would make him look weak. Dolph could be distracted by Maria and cost him the title, or Doplh may get himself DQ'd in the process. I could also see Rey coming in and distracting Dolph. A lot could happen here. I still see a 3 way for the Intercontinental Championship at Bragging Rights between John, Dolph and Rey, and that's probably where a switch is going to happen anytime soon.

Dolph seems ready but chasing the gold just a little bit longer wouldn't hurt him too much. John is looking great in all areas and this match may indeed steal the show.

I see a big series of false finishes in this one, Ziggler gets pissed because he can't put Morrison away and uses a chair, or better yet, the ring bell [when was the last time anyone used that?] and gets disqualified. They have a rematch on the following Smackdown where we see Mysterio return, and then we'll have a triple threat over the title at Bragging Rights. I just don't see Ziggler getting the strap until probably the beginning of next year. He still has some work to do on his character. Morrison is over big time and I don't see why we can't have Ziggler chase the belt while simultaneously working on his character.

No one cares about Ziggler though, he's a former male Cheerleader for god sake! He has the charisma of a ******ed gnat, and couldn't wrestle his way out of a plastic bag.

Well you are definitely in the minority on that opinion. Ziggler is very talented in the ring, and has a fantastic look. He's only going to be pushed higher, and I hope you understand that. Seems like you simply don't like him for having been a part of the Spirit Squad, and aren't looking at him objectively. He's very talented.

As for this match, should be pretty good. No, strike that, this could be fantastic, but as usual, it all depends on how much time they give them. They need atleast 10 minutes, preferably 15 to do their thing, and you can almost guarantee the results will be fantastic. Should be a good match. This PPV is shaping up nicely.

Hot diggitty doo dah! Hell yeah! This match could be MOTN if given 15 minutes, two future world champions right here, two guys with great looks and spades of ability. It will be all the better for NOT being in some stupid oversized cage, which this feud doesn't deserve, having only really just got started (things might have been different, however, if little Rey Rey still had the belt and hadn't gotten his stupid ass suspended).

I predict Morrison retaining, maybe not entirely cleanly. Hopefully Ziggler finally gets the belt at the next PPV (or the one after), in a Triple Threat when Rey Rey finally does the decent thing and gets pinned. He could use a good long run with the belt, could Dolph. He needs to be built slowly, whereas JoMo is almost ready for main event scene now.

I'm really unsure of what's gonna happen. Morrison just got the IC title, like a few weeks ago. Then ya realize they wouldn't have taken off the IC match from Breaking Point if they "had a decent match ending," which I think is bull. I think they just didn't want to do it because the original Mysterio/Ziggler match probably would've ended with a Ziggler title win. Thus, if they have Ziggler win, it'll be like morrison's regin was crappy. IMO, someone will win by DQ or count Out.

These two are both as talented as they come, the future of the wwe if you will. One reminiscent of shawn michaels and the other Mr. Perfect.

I wouldn't be disappointed no matter how this match turns out. Both of these guys work very hard.

But I think Ziggler will win the championship with help from Maria and then he'll kick her to the curb some time later. Putting Morrison and Maria together and eventually culminating in a ladder match for the IC title and Morrison winning it back.

One of these two is gonna win either the royal rumble or money in the bank. Believe it........likely morrison.

Morrison vs. Orton at WM would be nice. But I bet he wins MITB instead of the rumble but they make him last like an hour or so elevating him like countless others in the past.......Dibiase Sr., Rick Martel, Diesel, Bulldog, Orton, Triple H, Rhodes, Dibiase Jr., etc etc etc.

Well... Ziggler and Morrison both have there athelitic talent... Ziggler has been chasing since right before NoC and we needs/wants it bad... but the whole breaking Point thing was dumb... but that aint topic... in fin wise were saying Its Reverse leaping Bulldog vs. Corkscrew splitlegged moonsault. One: John Wont lose so fast Two: Starship Pain is alot more athletic... and anyway... i think maybe at the next PPV it will be same match.. maybe with a different person added... then Ziggler might win... but as in HIAC... Morrison should retain

This match could go either way, in my opinion. I don't think it is as "open and shut" as you make it out to be CMVP.

Firstly, this match should be a great contest for everyone. Morrison has been enjoying some good fortune recently and has put in some great performances on Smackdown. Let us not forget though that Morrison has not been on a PPV card for the last couple of months and this is his first in a while. Ziggler on the other hand, has been chasing this tile for months now and I honestly can see him winning the match. It wouldn't make sense but he has every shot at it.

Morrison and Ziggler should put on a good wrestling contest with some good spots thrown in probably and I have a good feeling about this match as it is inside the cage. Normally, this match wouldn't do much for me but the Cell variable just adds an extra flavour to this match and it should be an interesting match.

Dolph has been scratching and clawing his way back into Intercontinental title opportunity after opportunity. He cares about being IC champion which in turn makes the fans care about the title. He's starting to get support from the crowd because of this. I'd love to see Ziggler get the belt soon. Morrison doesn't need it Ziggler does. He's been chasing his first singles title for months every time he fails he tries harder the next time. Another loss will motivate him further but how many times can he lose before they stop giving him a chance. JOMO doesn't need it so Im going with Ziggler.

We all saw Ziggler as the heir apparent to Rey's IC title, and were thrown for a loop when Rey was suspended. With Morrison winning the title on a writer's whim, I'd like to think that they at least give him a decent run with the belt, and let him keep it for at least another pay-per-view.

If they do decide to drop it to Ziggler here, I'd assume that means they have a feud set for him. with Rey teaming with Batista, I'd guess there's a face turn coming for someone to feud with Dolph.
