HBK's Irate Phone Interview - Involvement in WM28 - HBK's WWE Future

Alright, so this kind of like a welcome back thread for me since I've been quite busy and haven't been following forums, or WWE as closely as I used to.

So looking at the news on WZ.com I noticed the link for the HBK's Angry Interview on whose better, HBK or HHH?

Link to interview: HBK's Irate Interview

I wanted to make this thread to calling to attention some things.

Towards the end of the interview, HBK seemed to become rather quick to give himself a big head (not to say he isn't deserving of it or anything) but was not modest at all about stating that he can't help stealing the attention.

While its true that today the media and tabloids just want to put a spin on something and present information in a biased fashion... does this indicate at all if HBK will play any part in this year's WrestleMania?

If HBK does play a part in this year's WrestleMania, as perhaps a special guest referee... Do you see him possibly screwing HHH so that the streak lives and HHH doesn't accomplish something that Shawn couldn't?

IF HBK doesn't play a part in this year's Mania, and HHH does in fact end the streak... does this potentially set up for a feud between HHH and HBK, where maybe we see HBK come back for 1 more match? (Yes, I know he is retired and he won't come back but if you think it can happen maybe give a good reason/kayfabe angle that seems plausible)

All this is hypothetical, but I was intrigued from the interview and thought it would make for some good storyline in the future.

I hope that HBK isn't involved in the actual match itself, but I wouldn't mind seeing him being added to the feud and angle since now that the match has been made... and the reasons for the match are known... I can't foresee more being added to the storyline. Triple H cuts good promos but he has essentially cut the same "Good for Business" promo for the past 3 weeks. My only fear would be that HBK's adding into the storyline would make it more about HBK and HHH then HHH and Taker, which could maybe draw away from the match.

Where do you guys see Shawn falling in on this and using your creative imagination, how would you book the future based on the points I've made and the questions I've proposed?

What if HBK comes back for one final match against Triple H at Summerslam, on the ten year anniversary of HBK's original "one final match"? I doubt it would tarnish his retirement if it's for one match, and what fan is going to say "No, f*** Shawn Michaels, he said he was retired, I never want to watch him wrestle ever again!!!" I wouldn't even be shocked if Taker was involved in some fashion. Taker/Triple H/Shawn at Summerslam?

Well all this could be a work to further incorporate HBK in this storyline and I am inclining heavily towards he 'work' side.

I really do think this is something that is supposed to be done to give this angle more edge seeing as it maybe Taker's last match. I won't be surprised if HBK becomes the Guest Refree or it becomes a triple threat HBK vs HHH vs Taker. I know the man is retired but this is just a scenario. I personally don't think HBK is that much needed as it is way more special with the Cell and Taker's Luke Gallows look and all.

Personally I don't want ANY special ref in the taker/hhh match. A special ref almost always means a bullshit ending. I want a clean "final" ending.

If Triple H gets a third chance to fight Undertaker at WrestleMania, then Shawn Michaels aka "Mr. Wrestlemania, the Showstopper" deserves a third shot too. It's only fair. Shawn even beat Undertaker in the first ever Hell in a Cell in 97.

At this point I think it's rather safe to say that Michaels will be involved somehow at Wrestlemania, and it will be in the Undertaker VS Triple H match. He was on Raw convincing Trips to accept the match, and Taker brought him up in a promo telling his opponent that Shawn was always "better than him". Now we have Michaels coming back to make more appearances. I'd say that he will be brought back to be a special guest ref. That would add even more reasons to why this will be a great match. I think that Michaels will end up screwing Trips out of a victory if he is the guest ref. Why would he not give in to the jealousy if his best friend comes within seconds of doing what he of all people could not accomplish? There is also the option of Taker getting screwed over as well, but let's face it, the streak is not ending in this match. Trips does not need it. He's a legend no matter what happens. That should be saved for someone in the future who may need that extra push towards being hated forever such as a heel Cena or a rising star heel.

If for some reason the streak did end here though, I still don't think it would end up resulting in a revived HHH VS HBK feud. Michaels said he is done with wrestling and I believe he will only be doing nostalgic appearances from now on. Michaels' jealousy leading into WWE revisiting their feud at Summerslam or something could be cool to see, but it's not really necessary. Michaels should keep his promise of not wrestling again. As a Michaels mark I would not be upset if he did make a return, I just think that retirements should be taken seriously rather than having people keep coming back after "final matches". Michaels is most likely done wrestling and will just be a guest ref here if anything, while Trips is likely moving on to the business side of the job. Taker I can see moving on to bigger and better things outside of the ring after reaching the 20-0 achievement. Nothing more, nothing less. Michaels as guest ref is just something extra to make an already potential show-stealer into an even more memorable match, it won't lead to any angles involving his in-ring return.

It's a work, plain and simple. He never directly answered the question about Triple H being better than him, just like Triple H never directly answered the same. Whether HBK is involved in the match or not (I'm not 100% convinced that him being a guest referee would be a good thing - it seems obvious he wont be objective, and since Taker probably wont lose, he'll probably end up screwing HHH) is a bit irrelevant at the current moment. I think his purpose is to advance the storyline further and continue selling the angle (there's only so many times Taker and Triple H can make face to face appearances).

And to answer the last question about a return match for HBK, personally, I'm opposed to this. I want my last memory of him to be an all-out show stopper that took Taker to the limit at WrestleMania. That being said, the only way that I would be in favour, is if it were a match between HHH and HBK at next year's WrestleMania. That would tear the roof off the building, but I don't see it happening.

I never wanna see that overrated bastard wrestle ever again. Fake Christian Schooly. Punk ass bitch always thought he was somebody.

/Shane Helms.

I don't really want HBK to take part in the Taker v HHH match, just because I think it would majorly take away from it. If they are going the special guest ref route, I'd rather it be Foley.

Shawn Michaels will come out of retirement and fight Triple H @ Wrestlemania 29 with Triple H's career on the line. This is what they are building to.

Is HBK gonna be the ref for HIAC? I don't know. I don't think he needs to be, but it's certainly possible. I definitely don't think the best decision is to have HBK screw HHH. Triple H should view Shawn's officiating as biased, and that can really push the feud forward. But Undertaker is going over clean.

I listened to the interview, and it sounds very typical. He's cutting a promo. In no way did I sense that any of it was real or legitimate.

You heard it here first: HBK vs HHH @ Metlife for Triple H's career. And to take a step further, I'd bet a ton of money on HHH winning and Sheamus ultimately being the one who retires him @ WM30.

I was wondering the same thing about how HBK fits into this. Since we are dealing in the realm of pro-wrestling I'm gonna go ahead and say HBK's interview is a work, obviously he's not gonna become irate because HHH was scripted to say he's better than HBK. So it sounds like this is a way to get him involved with the match. I'm hoping it all ends in a Triple Threat match at mania.

The Ultimate Challenge to the Streak
Triple Threat Vs The two men who want to end it the most
As someone else mentioned Takers has beaten both HHH and HBK twice at Mania, so It only makes sense to make it a triple threat. What better way to finalize the streak at an even 20 by having Taker finish off not one but two Legends in one night. It would be the best way to have The Dead Man bow out by being victorious against both the men who want to end the streak the most.

A Business Standpoint
Although Taker Vs. HHH in a cell sounds amazing on paper and will sell ppv buys, Taker Vs. HHH Vs. HBK sounds that much better and would garner that much more sales. HHH vs. Taker has been done twice, same with HBK, but all three of them in the ring at one time in a cell no less, is a first and last kind of deal that would take the card to a whole new level. It also sets up for another big payday come SummerSlam. Neither HBK nor HHH are victorious so the question still remains who's number one. they play the feud out and cash in again. And on a side note I have heard HBK is still trying to get his hunting show picked up on an actual network, what better way to get himself in the spot light

Now for all of you that are gonna say "HBK's retired moron" just look at every other wrestler who's ever retired, they come back and usually multiple times.

And for the special guest ref thing thats been thrown around where HBK causes HHH to loose, it wouldn't surprise me but I just don't think it would be fair to Takers amazing streak to have it capped off by winning with outside help.

It is definitely obvious that he is going to be involved in WrestleMania at this point. The question is in what capacity and what, if anything, is it setting up for the future?

I think that — as many have said — he will likely be the special referee in the Taker vs. Trips match. I personally cannot stand this because I wanted a solid Hell in a Cell from two great performers without ANY screw job.

I could see this as HBK's chance to screw HHH and set up a match of some sort, but why do that payoff at SummerSlam? HBK vs. HHH should be a payoff at WrestleMania XXIX. It would be a great way to see these guys "go out" with their best friends in a classic and memorable way.

I have no problem with HBK breaking "retirement" ... it is common in ALL sports ... wrestling not excluded. I think that I would prefer him do it for something huge, since his current ending was so spectacular.

I keep holding out hope that HBK would be willing to do a match with The Rock in New York ... but I know that is at best lottery hopeful.

Undertaker is not getting screwed out of his Streak. Jesus Christ. How stupid does that not only sound on paper, but in your mind when you map out how it would develop?

Maybe, just maybe, HBK will come out of retirement and fight @ WM29 (hhh, rock, whomvever). But he won't be inserted as the third wheel in this match unless it's deemed important enough that he be the special guest referee.

Fucking stupid. Yeah, the streak is gonna end b/c Triple H slept his way to the top 10 years ago to pull off this stunt. The ignorance is outstanding.

The reasoning behind HBK being on next weeks Raw seems to be build off him getting worked on the phone promo when asked if Triple H was better than him, I am just not sure how this can be used for the actual Triple H/Taker match as I think now they have the Cell stip they don't need HBK as the ref.
