Questions for the discussion:

1. Did you ever get to see Hayabusa wrestle before? If yes, what is your impression of him?

2. If he never suffered the career ending injury, do you think he would have ended up in the American wrestling scene?

3. Would he fit the American wrestling scene?

Only got to see him when he came in with Shinzaki and faced RVD and Sabu. One of my favorite matches ever to be honest, and was sorry I never got to see anymore of him. I will have to check out some online stuff now that you brought him up. I think he could have done a stint in WWE, but who knows if it would have amounted to anything. Just saying in what little I have seen I have been impressed.

Hayabusa was an awesome talent and went through a few character changes late in his career before his injury. If he wasn't injured I don't think he would have made it in the US scene but when FMW closed it's doors, I definately could see one of the other companies in Japan picking him up and making him one of their big attractions.

FMW's and ECW's Masato Tanaka was one of the top guys in FMW and is now a big part of Zero One and NJPW. Hayabusa was arguably FMW's biggest star and would have gone on to even bigger things and competed against the top guys in Japan. His feuds with Mr. Gonsuke and Mike Awesome were legendary!

Hayabusa was awesome and a huge highlight reel type of wrestler, BUT he was great for F-ing up, a lot. Big time botchmaster, but I was still a fan. His feud with Mr. Gansuke was great where it ended up with Hayabusa losing his mask and Gansuke wearing it and being billed as Hayabusa. Then the original Hayabusa going all White maskless and becoming H.

My favorite match of his was him being H vs. Mr. Gansuke being Fake Hayabusa with Shawn Michaels as the special ref. That match had everything you would ever want in a match and even H nearing killing himself with the finisher.

I don't think he would have ever came to the US for anything more than a one match deal with a ROH or Chikara. He had an opportunity to join WCW when Liger was there and he decided to stay with FMW so they wouldn't go under. Liger set the whole thing up and when Hayabusa said no Liger was so pissed he didn't talk to Haybusa for over 10 years.

The thing with Hayabusa was his rediculous schedule. All of his moves were so high risk, and he probobly had 10 days off from 1997 to his injury. Those moves with that schedule and it's only a matter of time before your card gets pulled.

His and Sabu's style are my personal favorites. Hayabusa was like a cleaner, better version of Sabu, and could really make it look good when he would fly through the air. He had it down to an art. He would try to hang upside down for a long as he could to give the illusion of hanging in air for longer periods of time(defying gravity), but this was what ended up injuring him too.

I think he would have been amazing in the WCW Cruiserwieght division in 98-99, though at 220 he may have been a bit too big.

Hayabusa was a highly underrated actor as well. I've seen some great performances of his without the mask on from FMW.
