Have we witnessed the beginning of the End for Los Matadores

Championship Contender
I am of the belief that the beginning of the end was the fail of debut match and being upstaged by a midget in a bulls costume. However WWE kept booking them in matches until Raw where they did not have a match. They have also left no team available for a feud with Los Matadores. Uso's, Rhodes, Shield and Real Americans are title level teams, Tons of Funk, Woods and Truth and Wyatt's are unlikely to feud with them. They could continue the feud with 3MB but they have already done enough with them. So after the first show with no match and no likely feuds I see the end of Los Matadores very soon. I haven't checked spoilers for Smackdown but if they aren't on the card I think we witnessed the end.

I may just be jumping to conclusions because I want them gone or there may be something to it. What are your thoughts on the significance of them not appearing on Raw and whether this could be the end of them.

Yeah. If the real Americans are up in the title picture (thank god) then that eliminates them for the feud. We are all sick of 3mb. There are really no decent heel teams that are low enough to face matrodores. Unless they do something rediculous like either make Los matrodores heel or woods and truth heel, I can't see them doing anything. Certainly they will never see the belts, so I think that soon Los Matrodores will go the way of Adam Bomb and the Boogyman. Another failed experiment.

Los Matadores suck. They were funny the first week because I didn't know they were going to have a midget in a bull costume. That caught me by suprise and was moderately funny. After that...nothing.

Lately, the WWE wants to cut down indy guys because Vince McMahon thinks Daniel Bryan is responsible for a low PPV buyrate, or McMahon realizes that the fans don't care about who he wants to push and resents all the wrestlers who were exemplary on the indy scene and are over because of it. This Los Matadores gimmick is nothing but an El Generico ripoff, but what an original idea, right???? But El Generico has to take off his mask and be recast in the almighty Vince's image??? I can almost hear Vince McMahon laughing out loud at Los Matadores, while everyone else who realizes this is garbage, is too scared to disrupt the boss's entertainment.

I don't think I feel like Vince is laughing anymore. Looks like Los Matadores are already taking a backseat to the rest of the divison. The face version of 3MB

The tag division has a bad face to heel ratio, and that was BEFORE Rhodes, Los Matadores and Truth-Woods. Thankfully their mini-feud with the Real Americans is over, those two definitely deserve better.

It is kinda surprising how Los Matadores didn't show up at all this week, not even on Main Event/Superstars. I guess they're not as over with the kids as WWE hoped they would be? Silly as their gimmick is both men are great in the ring, so here's hoping they get something to do next week. Just not with 3MB, we had enough of that for a lifetime.

A few weeks back, WWE kind of hit the reset button with the Real Americans. It was the Raw after the ppv that they faced Los Matadores, I think the ppv was HIAC. Anyhow, the next night on Raw, Cesaro & Swagger picked up a clean win over Cody Rhodes & Goldust after a surprisingly good & competitive match. Since that time, we haven't really seen much of Los Matadores.

All in all, it's a harmless gimmick that hasn't been as bad as I initially thought it'd be, but it's definitely nothing to get excited about. With the reports of 2014 being very focused on tag teams, at least allegedly, then I don't see much of a shelf life for the more comedic teams of Los Matadores, 3MB and Tons of Funk. Now that I mention it, I haven't seen Tons of Funk in a while either. With WWE sort of rotating the 3MB gimmick around a bit with a new theme every week, I think their days are probably numbered. I'd say there's a possibility of Los Matadores & Tons of Funk either being repackaged or scrapped altogether.

They were never going to be challenging for the tag titles. They're a comedy team that made their debut with a couple of wins. I don't think anybody seriously thought they'd ever beome more than a job team.

Let's not forget, guys. It's Primo & Epico under those masks. That midget friend they have? He'll be the only reason they're on TV regularly.

I hope they go away. I despise them. The only interesting thing about them should be the bull and event that isnt. They will never be contenders and are very replaceable. Instead of them having matches, just let PTP have some air time.I would much rather see The Real Deal Titus'o'Neil then freaking 2 luchas screaming ole every fkn minute, not to mention their moveset is awful and their finisher is just weak as hell.

By "end" do you mean them disbanding because I can't see that as a possibility. They have only recently debuted so I can't see them going anywhere.

Los Matedores can definitely be a popular tag-team and I think the WWE know that. The gimmick, the style of wrestling and the little bull will make the popular with a certain demographic.

They are plenty of tag-teams that they can feud with. Back way before we had this much wrestling on TV there were loads of tag-teams. At one point in the late 80's there must have been 10+ tag-teams in the WWF. With Raw and Smackdown there is plenty of time to fit Los Matedores and I'm sure they will get their chance. Moreover, if they split then that is it for Primo and Epico. I'm sure they can find a spot for them on TV and when they do, I reckon they can make a bit of money from these three.

They're the new Bushwackers or Too Cool, Doink and Dink that's all. Nothing near main event level but the kids will like them and the "El Torito" thing and provided Primo and Epico can stomach it then they have a place.

Will they win many matches, no, but neither did they under their original guise nor did the Bushwhackers or Too Cool all told. That wasn't what they were there for. It's something for the young kids. Luke and Butch made a shitload in merch over the years... they were well paid for goofing all over their legit legacy as the Sheepherders... they don't bitch about how they were mishandled... so why would the Colon's, sure it's not what Carlos and Carlito would have chosen for the family name but neither was a nappy head afro spitting an apple or a lame Royal Rumble appearance. If it's not them then someone will have the role. Look at Brodus or Ryder- not gonna win a World title but making a hell of a lot of coin off the gimmick.

I'm just not a fan of the cultural pandering that's going on with them -- the outfits, the midget, just BLECH. It's like the only gimmick that they can see for a Mexican wrestler is a bullfighter. I mean, really? WTeverlovingF?

Primo and Epico are two solid ring workers who would've been just fine on their own, provided the WWE actually made good with their plan to boost the tag team division.

I don't think it's the end of them completely but I do think it's the end of them getting any type of big push in the tag-division. I can't see them getting any big wins over anyone right now.
I would love to see them finally reveal themselves as Primo & Epico and take the masks off. That's the only thing that really annoys me about them. We all know who they are!
Fernando and Diego have no backround - Primo and Epico however are former tag-team champs with a family legacy in the colons. They could keep the gimmick and El Torrito but without the silly masks and stupid names

I don't think they are breaking them up anytime soon. Its a gimmick designed to target kids in the audience. Sure they will probably never be in the hunt for the belts but WWE always likes to have a few acts like this to appeal to the under 10 crowd. Primo and Epico are solid workers in the ring so they will be used to fill in the card for the contenders in the hunt for the belts. I don't see the gimmick going past a full year mark unless they are really selling some merchandise but I think the WWE will give them a little time to see if they will or not.

Los Matadores were never meant to be title contenders, they are a modern day Bushwackers. A team that is recognizable and can sell merchandise to the kids hence why they were moved to superstars. The WWE needed to establish them which why we saw them on Raw and SD every week since there debut and now that fans have been force fed these guys are moved down to a lower tier. Plus they also make a 1st/2nd match house show attraction. The WWE wants more tag teams so they can fill a house show card and possibly run two shows in one area.

Nothing wrong with being the Bushwackers, they get paid very well for wrestling maybe 10 minutes MAX a night. They dont need to cut promos or do extra stuff that the upper cards have to. It could be worse they could be in TNA, Mexico, or Puerto Rico making scraps for the same output.

Primo and Epico are actually pretty talented guys, who could, given time like the Uso's have got themselves over with the crowd and become a serious tag-team again. However, this entire gimmick is just far too childish to ever be a long-term success. Yeah, they may get a cheer when the midget dressed as a bull comes out, but when does a comedy gimmick in wrestling lead to any length of success? There aren't too many examples of that being the case.

Primo and Epico do not need this stupid, stereotypical gimmick to be a success, they are good enough to do so without it. The gimmick was on its last legs as soon as it debuted, hopefully someone will kill it off soon and let the guys be themselves.

Comic relief was, has and will always be a part of wrestling. Bushwackers, Doink, the Godfather and the Ho train, before them George the Animal biting turnbuckles. They keep 3MB around as heel tag team comic relief. They'll keep Los Matadores around too as the face tag team comic relief.

I guess when you look at them from a gimmick point of view, yeah its a good idea however they will be limited, just like 3MB which is a shame considering they are a talented tag team and have proven it.

They were never going to be challenging for the tag titles. They're a comedy team that made their debut with a couple of wins. I don't think anybody seriously thought they'd ever beome more than a job team.

I completely agree. It's important to note that WWE management doesn't expect every introduction of a wrestler(s) to result in immortality; sometimes it's just people familiar to us, getting a chance to start again. Primo and Epico were fine ring workers who had pretty much exhausted their chance to get anyone excited about them. As has been previously stated, excellent ring work only goes a limited distance with many of today's wrestling fans; they'd rather see beer trucks driven to ringside than to watch a skilled, technical wrestling contest.

So, Primo and Epico were given something new, along with a mascot to provide a little color (I still think of him as "El Pequeno Bullshit") and Creative figured they'd let these guys run with it for awhile. After a spell, they'll probably lose the mascot and come to the ring as a scaled down version of bullfighters; no more capes & caps, just a Latino looking team, which is how they started.

No problem here; it was nice to see two loyal employees given a chance to try something different.

As to the pronouncement of many that the new beginning that didn't work.....I say, it did. It was a mid-card gimmick and did exactly as intended.
