The Rock

The Rock was the first third generation World Champion, and held a lot of world titles over a short period of time. Undoubtedly the best talker in the history of wrestling, he was eventually able to cross into the mainstream and make a series of great films, one of which got a coveted one star review recently in the Evening Standard.

As for his wrestling career, he began as Rocky Maivia, the dullest face in the history of wrestling, before eventually turning heel and joining the nation of Domination. It was here that his The Rock persona was allowed to fluorish and he quickly became a big deal. When that group disbanded his growth continued first as a face, but then as part of The Corporation when he became World Champion for the first time.

This lead to him losing the title and winning it back a few times from Mankind, before losing to Austin at WrestleMania. He would later lose to Austin again at Mania X-Seven, before winning one back at WrestleMania XIX.

The Rock was a prominent character for the WWF uring the invasion, and remained a big deal into 2002, eventually losing the Undisputed title to the up and coming Brock Lesnar. Periodic appearances followed, but The Rock certainly won more than his fair share of gold during his comparitively brief stay. So, does the Rock deserve in, or should his perceived selling out be punished.

Yes, definitely, The Rock is one of the greatest superstars of WWE history, not as a technical wrestler, but because of his ability to draw insane crowds, he was loved no matter what (when he transformed into The Rock) and has held a multitude of championships, he is by far Hall of Fame worthy for anything he contributed to this business for the brief amount of time he was there.

There's not really much more to say about The Rock and why he should be inducted into the WZ Hall of Fame, because everything has already been said by you Tastycles, all there's left to say is:

Change the yes vote to "FINALLY The Rock, has been inducted into the WZ Hall of Fame"

Defo....i think VKM is postponing it, he still wants the rock to figtht 1 more match at wrestlemania...after that he can be inducted...that all he needs to do..

The rock should definetly be in the hall of fame. He is one of the reason why the attitude era was so great. He was a huge draw in the WWE and he should definetly be iun the Hall of fame.

HEY! Count the man in!....we're talking about The Rock here!

He should definitely be HOF worthy. He's revolutionized "sports-entertainment" to what it is today, became the most successful Samoan or African-American wrestler in wrestling history, and is an icon. And I'm not saying this because he's my idol; it's nothing but facts. To this day, there is NOBODY who has connected with the fans more than The Rock. He is a master of charisma on the mic, superior athletic skills, and drawing in fans. He, to me, is the total package.

Of course the Rock should be in the hall of fame.Former world champion, tag champion and many more mid card titles. He has Main Evented PPV and been in the Main Event of Wrestlemania. He was a huge part of the attiude era and him and Austin where great. His promo skills will never be matched and he could talk for hours and keep people listening. So The Rock needs to be in the hall of fame for all the great matchs and all his championship wins.

hhhmmmmmmmmmm why wouldnt he? I mean seriously why not? dude The Rock is Austins antagonist, The Rock=the Attitude Era, The Rock=how every single wrestler should be with the mic.

WHY WOULDNT HE???OF COURSE THE GREAT ONE NEEDS TO BE INDUCTED!

Rock did so much for wrestling! There is no doubt he should be in, and will! I believe he was an 8 time worlds champion, multiple tag, and intercontinental championships, the best wrestler on the mic, period!

Absolutely. Look at everything he's done for the business and everything he has achieved. Quite possibly the greatest mic worker in the history of wrestling and a good wrestler too. He and SCSA changed what professional wrestling is in the Attitude era. To me, it's a no-brainer.

There's no doubt he'll be in sooner or later. The guy accomplished more in 6 years than most wrestlers do in 20. He wasn't the most technical wrestler in the world, but he was probably the greatest performer of all time. As well as one of the biggest draws ever.

OF COURSE The Rock should be in the Hall of Fame. He is a 9 time World Champion and one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time and he is unrivaled on the mic. I still remember seeing The Rock live once... the reaction he got out of me and the rest of the crowd is something that no other wrestler can, could, or will ever be able to do.

The rock definanty deserves to be in the wz hof he is a global icon and one of the best pro wrestlers of all time and he had the best mic skills of all time

I would be very surprised if the Rock wasn't inducted into the wrestling HOF ...although he should have to have one more wrestlemainia match before he gets inducted, and am I the only one that thinks that match should be at next year's wrestlemainia and it should against Goldberg? Wouldn't that be awesome, The Rock vs Goldberg. Can't wait!

My favorite wrestler of all time and the perfect mix of a good wrestler & entertainer. You dont have to be a great tech to be good in the ring.

The Rock could put on a great match and he was always fresh on the mic, he had so many catchphrases! Just simply electrifying

And yes I see him facing Cena at WrestleMania. Vince has made it too obvious that he's planning it, there are several things that back this up.

Without a shadow of a doubt.....The Rock is all too well deserving of the position. All he has done for the buisness and all the moments he made, those are credit enough to go in.
I hate to be a downer, but in some ways I guess I'm just a selfish mark, I feel let down by rock and you all know why. Movies are his passion and what he ultimatley wanted to do so I can't hate on the man for doing him, but as a complete mark for the most electrifying man in SE, I'm pissed.
This man is in great shape and could have been gong strong to this point I think. Maybe an injury here and there but I do think he would have had at least 3 more title reigns if he had not left.
Rock was the man when it came to making you laugh with the improv and that damn eyebrow!! Ooo rock where have you gone?? Then it leads me to think, would WWE be different had he stayed? I don't know but id sure would have love to find out.

Now there has been hooplagh about maybe a return this summer but we will just have to wait and see. But my vote is for Rock/WZHF 2010 :)

Of course he should be in the hall of fame. How many people can you even name in all of wrestling history that are more deserving of an induction? Hogan, Austin, Flair, maybe Bret Hart, but that's it.

The Rock is the reason why I started watching wrestling and I continue to watch just for the chance of seeing even a fraction of the man's greatness reincarnated in another wrestler.

Definately - perhaps the most popular and biggest superstar of all time (along with Hogan and Austin), a BIG part of the Attitude Era, best ever on the mic, good in the ring, sold out arenas worldwide, I could go on and on.

Superstars like The Rock, Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold Steve Austin each deserve their own wing in the hall of fame. He is the Great One for a reason.

Can't believe 2 people voted no.......

I think it's interesting to see what people are saying here, I think if there's one huge name from the history of professional wrestling that did nothing to change the course of the sport, it's The Rock. He was over because of his mic work, which nobody has come close to either before or since his debut and as a result, he is something of an anomaly on the wrestling spectrum.

That being said, he's essentially the reason wrestling was able to cross into the mainstream for the period it did at the turn of the century, and it's no coincidence that his disappearance and the ratings plummet were temporally close. Anyway, I think for being the best at a certain aspect of wrestling, we have to put him in the WZ HOF.

Wow! 90% of the vote for the most electrifying man in sports entertainment.

I am very happy about this because of a number of reasons. Firstly, as a 11/12 year old, The Rock was the best thing on a WWE television show. His charisma was and is totally unmatched by any one else to ever step into a WWE ring. You could watch a Rock promo10 years ago and that same promo today and you would enjoy it just as much, if not more. In today's wrestling business, there is no one that can come remotely close to being as entertaining on the mic as The Rock was. John Cena is probably considered the upper-echelon of charismatic wrestlers in the WWE and as much as I like him, he can't even touch the Rock.

However, The Rock was not all about being good on the mic. Sure, that is what he was best at but people will also remember him for how good he was in the ring. He is a multiple time world Champion and had done it all inside a WWE ring. He was an Undisputed Champion and had reached the top of the WWE pile on many different occasions. He also gave me one of the best moments of my life and that was watching him at WrestleMania X-7. The feud against Austin, where two worlds collided and the biggest swerve in the history of wrestling was created as Stone Cold teamed up with Vince McMahon.

At the end of the day, The Rock is an absolute icon that was undoubtedly the best talker in the WWE. He could have been a train-wreck inside the ring but people would still have gone wild for him. He was a character that people couldn't help but like and his popularity with wrestling fans will be forever cemented in gossip about wrestling John Cena and undoubted inductions into Hall Of Fames. His immense popularity, both inside and out of the ring, will always shine through and this has been shown here.

Of course, the Rock, along with Triple H, Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin are the icons of the era and are well deserving to be inducted into any American wrestling hall of fame. The Rock (along with Stone Cold) could get a bigger reaction then many men have been able to produce, he was golden on the mic, solid in the ring, and looked like a greek fucking god. Women wanted to be with him, men wanted to be him, and kids dreamed of becoming him, he was one of the main reasons i tuned in to WWF TV every week as a kid and one of the main reasons i would get moody and pissed off if i missed a second of the action. The Rock is adored by many everywhere and its a shame he left the wrestling buisness at the time he did cause he would have became the WWE's biggest draw and became an even bigger icon in the wrestling world then he already is. My vote is yes.
