Pre-Show Stalwart
ok so i've been watchin wrestling forever but i stopped watching after wrestlemania 20 (you know after the rock, goldberg, brock lesnar, etc. left) and i didnt start watching wwe again until right before wrestlemania 22 this yr. so i was wondering... what was up with that muhammad hassan guy? wasnt he in the wwe for like less than a yr? i think his last match was great american bash 05 vs undertaker. so did they just not have any storylines for him or did he get in trouble or did they just release him cuz everybody hated him??? someone tell whats up

He left because he was forced to by UPN.

His gimmick at first was an Arab-American seeking sympathy and respect from the American public.

He then got moved to Smackdown in May 2005 and Vince decided to tweak his character a little, he then became a "terrorist". Bad move Vinnie.

On an edition of Smackdown in July 2005 he sent Davairi to the ring to face the Undertaker as a "sacrafice" to their God. After the match 6 masked men came out and carried Davairi to the back like he was a suicide bomber who had just sacraficed himself.

This aired on the July 7th 2005 edition of Smackdown, the same day of the London bombings. UPN (network Smackdown was on at the time) through a fit and told Vince they never want Hassan on their network again, so Hassan lost the match to Undertaker at Great American Bash and then left the company.

Muhammad Hassan was great, man im gutted he left to persue acting and now daivari has no real position cuz he just goin along with anyone who over 300 pounds as their manager lol. Daivari can actually wrestle which can't be said about some of the talent in the WWE.

Hassan's in ring work was'nt up to scratch in my oppinion but I think his promo's were excellent. I also think he always made valid points for a heel.

i kinda did the same thing i stopped watchin it when the bashams..la resistance came in and davari and hassan had that hate america gimmick and started back watchin it right b4 royal rumble this year but it seems like alotta ppl liked that hassan dude he must have bin a great wrestler or something

Hassan was a good wrestler with a good gimmick.. Its to bad Vince decided to go "terrorist" with him.. He would of had a bright future.

hassan was a great talent. even tho he hated the gimmick himself he still went out and did his job and did it well.

Yeah Hassan had excellent mic work, and could really play the crowd with that character! It was probably one of my favorite gimmicks of all time.
I am surprised at how many people liked his ability. I thought people thought of him as nothing better then Chris Masters (who I also don't mind) or some kind of new talent that wasn't going to go anywhere.

I hope that some day he comes back as Hassan. Even though he is Italian, he was very talented to pull off the Arab thing, and deserves to be back in the ring.

Muhammad Hassan was a great wrestler who's Gimmick the people in the media couldn't take. WWE had to stop using him after Spike TV ordered them to take him off WWE Television. Then they brought him to OVW and was gonna re-package him but found problems with that and ended up releasing him. Never heard much about him after that. I think I heard something about him trying to be an actor or something, but can't quite remember. Anyways Hassan never should have been forced off television. It was just as he was gonna make a title run too.

From a business perspecitve yes he should have. Since WWE chose to go the route of making the character the very thing that people claimed that he was, but never was, they went too far. If sponsors are going to threaten to bow out that causes massive problems for the station. He could have possibly been given a new gimmick but 1) he reportedly didn't want to stay anyway and 2) even though a lot of people have an identifiable gimmick then switch to another one, chances are that the damage was already done by WWE (not UPN). Since they portrayed the gimmick a certain way, him simply being on television, even as someone else, could have caused sponsor problems.

It was not Spike TV, it was UPN. People could take it when he was on Spike just being an angry arab, it was when they turned him into a terrorist and did the martyr angle that they got pissed. But why is it wrong for them to get pissed about a guy being carried out like that after a suicide type mission. It is a very sensitive subject in America and most of the world.

It wasn't so much that the WWE released him, as he also wanted to leave after all was said and done. He is pursuing an acting career, no idea how that is going though.

ok, not to plays devil's advocate, but aside from being "Arab-American", do you realize that Hassan was actually booed for wanting respect? Think about it, when he first came in, he was an Arab-American who was looked down on and treated unfairly because he was Arab. All he wanted to be was treated equally along with every other person in America. This is about as stupid a way to make a heel as Ludvig Borga, you know, the Fin who basically was down on America because of the corruption and pollution and whatever else. Just my opinion.
