Guilty Pleasures?

I can do whatever I want
What's your muscial guilty pleasure? What's either a song/band that you really like for some reason even though it's not the genre you like ect. For me it has to be the band Hedley. They are an obscure pop/punk band(a genre a usually detest) but for whatever reason I like their songs.

Having grown up and reached adolescence in the late 90s/early 2000s, the ultimate guilty pleasure is what I would call the Disney genre. All of the pop singers and bands that Disney practically worshipped in this time period. Brittney Spears, Christina Aguliera, Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, 98 Degrees and several others are still great to me. I have a lot of their stuff on my ipod and almost always check to make sure no one is around when I listen to them. That music is nothing short of great to me as it is my childhood. Pure guilty pleasure.

As much as it shames me to say this. I agree with Klunderbunker. Not because of Klunder, but because of the music. That shit was my childhood for a long time. Everywhere I turned I hear the boy bands and Britney. To this day I still listen to it. It defined my youth for awhile, and I can't give that up. At least not yet. I much prefer the Backstreet Boys, and 98 Degrees over N'sync though. Yet I still listen to them. Probably more than I should...

I like Ne*Yo and Usher. I'm a guy who likes stuff like metal and punk rock, but I like these 2's relaxed and chilled back songs instead of the high adrenaline tracks of punk rock sometimes, but I like different kind of music depending on the mood that I'm in. I also sometimes like classical music, even though I always say that I hate it. I just like the mood and the sound that the music makes as it's different to the stuff I normally listen to.

Marilyn Manson helped me get through my late teens. Boyfriend trouble, fight with my best friend, parents getting on my case, or just a general bad day…I’d blast some Marilyn and get out my anger or sadness. I only ever told two people I was into their music because I knew the opinion my friends and especially family had of the band; everyone close to me is pretty religious. So their music was my little secret. I have their first five albums and on occasion as my mood permits I’ll break it out for old times sake.

My current guilty pleasure, so can’t believe I’m admitting this, is the Jonas Brothers. I mean I outgrew “boy bands” with New Kids On The Block in the early 90s. Well my daughter’s 8 and totally crazy about the Jonas Brothers. We watch a lot of Disney channel and the Jonas Bros. are on a lot (special appearance on Hannah Montana, music videos, Camp Rock movie). I guess their music has just grown on me over the last year. I love the song "When you look me in the eyes." Plus now they’re getting play on mainstream radio and popping up on non-Disney shows. So maybe they don’t have be such a “guilty” pleasure really.

Completely agree here. All the music like that I love. Very much a guilty pleasure. Especially compared to my usual genre which is indie/rock music. I just love all things Britney/Xtina/ boy bands etc.

Another guilty pleasure, showing exactly how much of a kid I really am, is High School Musical. Being subjected to this daily by Jessica has made me like it. I use the word 'like' lightly, as really I love it. The films, the music, everything. And often I have this playing on my computer while on the net. This is a guilty pleasure at it's worst.

Brittany spears piece of me.

I absoloutly LOATHE The spears Girl. No talent stuck up cow she is. I have never liked her but this song Is so true, No matter how much people bitch about her complain she is a washed up singer people are still breaking her neck to write about her, this song when i first heard it made me think wow. she cant be as stupid as i thought.

I hate all songs of her, I have no right to judge her for anything as its none of my buisness i just dont like her and never have I always thought she was butt ugly even in her younger years. but this one song I listen to alot (of course not when anyone is nearby) :lmao:

My guilty pleasures are 60s music and 80s pop.

60s Music - Something about all that doo wop stuff just makes me want to listen. I've got loads of compilation CDs featuring music from this era which was pretty turbulent considering all the assassinations and Vietnam. I don't know most of the artist's names but the 60s playlist on my iPod is frequently listened to and enjoyed but with the volume turned down so nobody else on the bus can hear ;)

80s Pop Music - The cheesier the better Wham, Michael Jackson, Duran Duran and A-ha. The 80's was chock full of catchy pop bands, one hit wonders and awful fashion. Definitely a guilty pleasure as I'm more into alt rock and country.

She has been named numerous time before, but Britney is my #1 guilty pleasure. I love all version of her: sweet and innocent Britney, sex kitten Britney, white trash Britney, wicked crazy Britney, etc. etc. Someone writes this chick some catchy tunes. And her videos were always fun. I even paid money to see her in concert once. Yeah, that's the tour when she started to go crazy so the show was cancelled and I was left with nothing but a refund. I miss you, Britney...

I have another guilty pleasure. It's a certain song not the artist. The song is called "Paper Planes" by MIA. It's very "different" and not mainstream. Most probably haven't even heard of it(its the song in the Pineapple Express trailers). Its a very good song.

Guilty Pleasure: ABBA. It is almost too embarrassing to even write down...but, their cheesiness is contagious, and honestly, their tunes are catchy as hell. I bought ABBA Gold the same day I got AC/DC Back in Black on CD.

I like Journey. My friends laugh at me for that.

My deepest darkest guilt is reserved for Justin Timberlake. That is music to have sex too. The beat is perfect, and it makes me think of an ex. That girl looked good naked and I would wake up every day asking myself how I pulled that, and she made me listen to Justin Timberlake.

Carrie Underwood is another one. I listen to rap, but that Underwood girl does something to me.

I'm generally a disliker of music, in fact I find music in general overrated - People who know loads about music annoy me, but I do have a good music collection, Im more of a modern-indie-rock kind of person, I couldn't tell you 5 bands I like, because I like the sound as opposed to bragging about my style of music to everyone.

Anyway the guilty pleasures - Im 17, and I LOVE High School Musical Music (and Im male), I know all the words to both films after watching it a few times with my sisters, everyone says it's complete tripe, but quite frankly it's amazing. The guy above said JT, I used to dislike him, but I like his new sound.

Next is James Blunt, so much so I think he is one of my favorite singers, quite possibly the most irritating person on the planet according to some - I find his sound awesome and different. AlphaBeat is another one, again for a 17 year old male it is not "cool" to like their music, but what the hell, I love it.

I suppose it's neg rep for High School Musical - I know it is IRL :(

Marilyn Manson is mad, I tell everyone I love his music. I've had a couple lectures from people about it but nobody should be ashamed of listening to Marilyn Manson.

My mum thinks he is a sick man though, because you know, the whole burning or ripping the bible during his performances of 'AntiChrist Superstar' as she is fairly religious.

I look up to him in a way, in the sense that he isn't afraid to say what he wants and do what he wants whenever he wants and he doesn't care what people think of him.

:headbanger:

Nickelback. You can hate em all you want, but there's just something about them that I like.

Oh, and the song "Corona and Lime" by Shawyze. Have absolutely no idea why I like that song, but I do, and pretty much know all the words to it.

The boy bands are def one of mine. The stuff I grew up on. Every now and then, I'll break out the old Spice Girls CD. Or All-4-One. Anybody know Raffi? He makes songs for kids. "Banana Phone" is classic to me, lol. And I think the song that the Dudley Boyz recorded for WWE Originals was badass!

I totally agree. ABBA has to be my guilty pleasure. Although I wasn't alive when ABBA was at their peak I know most of their songs because of my mom and the power of the internet. I'm not ashamed to blast their music while I'm driving in the car :lmao:

A new huge guilty pleasure for me right now is The All American Rejects new song "Gives you hell" it's poppy rock, but hella catchy and addictive. Another song that I love and am embarrased by my love for it is Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours", corny as hell, but something about it makes me want to crank the volume and sing along...

There is nothing wrong with Mraz. I own all three of his records and have seen him live once. Sure the songs may sound sappy and stuff but the man is a lyrical genius. Half of his songs make you really wonder what he's writing about. For example there's a song on his second album (the title is escaping my mind right now) but it's greatly debated whether or not he's singing about love or marijuana :icon_razz:

I've noticed some people are ashamed of admitting some of their guilty loves. LOL I'm 100% comfortable in saying I embraced my fruitiness. :lmao:

WHAM! - Not only was this song stuck with me throughout childhood, but I literally just rocked to it in the car like a month or so back. I was driving down the interstate and heard this song. I cranked it up and just started shaking my head. LOL I had car's passing me thinking I was crazy.. and just think of this.. they had NO clue who I was listening to. hahahaha

Honestly though.. if you wanna call them guilty pleasures, that song along with almost anything from Jefferson Starship was huge to me. Especially "We Built This City", "Sara", and "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now".

I've also listened to the teenie-bopper bands, and the Disney crew as Klunder and Monkey stated in opening this thread.. I was semi-big on Celine Dion too. lol

I don't mind some of ABBA's songs.

Australian Idol had ABBA night a few nights ago and I quite liked it, the songs are catchy and simple which I like.

Also, I have to say......The Veronicas. It's not that I like their singing, I like the background music to the songs. If their songs sounded less ****ty I would probably like them more. They sing and target little girls and young teen girls, but have you heard some of the lyrics? "Take me on the floor, da da da da da, I can't take it anymore" or that song 'Hook Me Up', I think they need to reconsider some of their lyrics for their next album. The pop background music I don't mind though, not bad.

My usual taste is punk/rock but also i listen to a genre people would make fun of me, and thats why i play it on my i-pod when nobody's around lol, anyways my guilty pleasure is japanese rock and japanese techno. When i listen to it my ears explode because of the peeping voices but for some reason i just keep on listening.
