Greatest Guitar Solo

Another solo I think is great is the solo from Blackbird by Alter Bridge. The solo flows really well with the rhythm section of the song, and starts off building up, and erupts in the second half of the solo. It encapsulates the mood of the song perfectly, and they use all the guitar tricks in their bag in the solo, and each lick works perfectly.

Another solo I love is from Porcupine Tree - Fear Of A Blank Planet. In this solo, Steven Wilson plans out each note and maps out the whole solo so that nothing is wasted, and each note flows onto the next one. The end of it is the best part, a fast triplet run ending on the D note to segue into the slow outro, and the solo really encapsulates the almost foreboding and, for lack of a better word, weird feel of the song.

This is obviously one of the most under rated and talented guitar solo's of all time. And my personal favorite.

For me it's Slash's in Guns'N'Roses' "November Rain". The solo absolutely encompasses the general feel of the song, and it was wonderfully crafted and executed by one of the best guitarists in the world.

When you can perform the solo in your head almost note for note without even listening to the song, I'm pretty sure that's a clear indication of how great it is.
