Greatest Feats of Strength In Pro Wrestling

Nikkolas

Occasional Pre-Show
As we all know, not everything in wrestling is fake. A lot of the guys who enter that ring really are damn strong, if not quite as superhuman as their characters may be.

What showings of pure, raw power do you most remember?

There are bound to be a lot of stuff with Lesnar or Kane or Big Show so I'll try and list a few lesser known examples.

Davey-Boy Hanging Vertical Suplex on Kevin Nash.

There's not only Kev's weight to consider but also his height and those long-ass legs. That must have been hard as hell.

Brian Adams does overhead press reps with The Undertaker

And one for the ladies, Christi "Asya" Wolf does a Hanging Vertical for a good whle on Eddie Guerrero

She's actually a really strong (and attractive) woman.

That's all for me... How about you all?

Not a popular option but Ryback lifting Mark Henry at Wrestlemania 29.

I'm pretty sure that's one of the two times Henry has been lifted off of his feet (the other being Cena's AA). It just seems like a really difficult move to perform, and at Henry's weight, I honestly can't imagine how Ryback did such a thing.

For me just naming one was Cesaro waking big show over the top rope in the Andre battle royal at wrestlemania 30

Here's a few:

I always liked Steve Williams gorilla pressing Terry Gordy at Great American Bash 89 about 6 or 7 times into a steel cage roof:

Virtually every single time Davey Boy Smith would execute his delayed suplex with a dude 300 pounds or more.

My other favorite spot that I've seen a few guys do now, including Ricky Steamboat, Davey Boy Smith, and John Cena is when their opponent gets them in a keylock (an arm lock), and Steamboat/Smith/Cena would roll their opponent over and lift them up over their heads while their arm is still trapped. It's just such a great looking spot and it's a crowd pleaser.

This was a long, long time ago, I was maybe 10 years old and I was reading an older back issue of Pro Wrestling Illustrated. In the issue, they listed who they thought were the 50 strongest men in wrestling at the time and Dr. Death Steve Williams was ranked #1. In the piece, there was some information on him as well as a photo of him military pressing Big Bubba Rogers over his head. At that time, Bubba, later known as the Big Boss Man, was billed at 357 pounds and, in all honesty, I'd say he was legitimately pretty close to that.

However, I went on YouTube myself and found this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-ABKfaBhYY

It's War Games '89 and Dr. Death military presses Terry Gordy over his head for 8 reps. Gordy wasn't exactly a lightweight and while he didn't look as heavy there as he did in his days in WCCW, I'd say he was genuinely in the 275 pound+ range.

Henry pressing Vader over his head was also an impressive feat. I dunno if Vader was legitimately 450 pounds or not, it can be hard to tell sometimes, but it's obvious that he's well north of 350 pounds.

Taker slamming King Kong Bundy at WrestleMania 11 looked pretty impressive. Bundy was billed at 444 pounds. It didn't look effortless, but it also didn't look as though Bundy helped him out with the move either.

Even to this day, Hulk Hogan slamming Andre the Giant still looks impressive. Andre was billed at 520 pounds at WrestleMania III and I'd say there's a good possibility that he was somewhere in that neighborhood his weight fluctuated quite a bit in the last 12 years or so of his life. For instance, he was still being billed at 520 at WrestleMania IV but it was perfectly obvious that he was much slimmer than he'd been a year earlier.

Lex Luger slamming Yokozuna on July 5, 1993 was pretty impressive. Yoko, if I'm not mistaken, was billed at 568 pounds, which I think is pretty damn likely when you consider the man's ass, hips & thighs were big enough for 2 or 3 normal sized people.

My recent memory is dominated by Cesaro. Seeing him hit the nuetralizer on guys like Khali and Big Show was awesome. And when he eliminated Big Show and won the Andre Battle Royal at Mania was pretty impressive as well.

You can shit on John Cena all you want but the man is an absolute freak in the ring. He makes a living off of picking up giants - Big Show, Mark Henry, Umaga, Rikishi, Great Khali, Kane, Big Daddy V, Show & Edge which had to be 700 pounds on his shoulders, is there anyone else I'm forgetting?

There's Goldberg who picked up big guys like The Giant, Kevin Nash, Bam Bam Bigelow etc. with the Jackhammer every day in WCW.

I remember Johnny Stamboli gorilla pressing a few big guys back in 2003. Very underrated wrestler.

For a small guy who wasn't jacked like any of the above mentioned, Curt Hennig was pretty strong. Below at 6.00 he lifts up The Giant for the Hennig-Plex. There was also that rumor about him crushing Steven Seagal's hand with a handshake.

Ultimate Warrior press slam to Hogan at WM6 was impressive, considering Hogan was all over 300+. Also Ultimate Warrior slamming the bigger than WM3 Andre the Giant.

Ahmed Johnson body slamming the nearly 700lbs Yokozuna at Survivor Series 95.

Giant doing the powerbomb to Nash.

And of course John Cena, who has picked up everyone you can name under the sun, his AA to Edge and Show was impressive.

Also I think.. Benoit when he won the Rumble and did a supplex lift to Big Show, looked like a dead lift at that. Least I think it was his Rumble win.

Im going to go old school on you guys! Does anyone remember Dino Bravo?? When at the first Royal rumble he benched pressed 715 pounds! That is freakish strong! Bravo was just a complete powerhouse,im sure he could easily do overhead presses with anyone on the roster at that time..

Ted Arcini at the time was known for his Bench presses north of 750 pounds or so.. Hogan was strong no doubt, but in todays age Mark Henry pulling those two tractor trailer trucks, that is amazing!
