I saw Shelton vs. RVD at backlash for the IC title great match.
But it doesn't compare to a match at a house show that I saw. It was WCW in early 1998 and Hogan was scheduled to go against Benoit. Hogan was in Hollywood filming a movie (allegedly) so we got Savage instead. Lexington is his old stomping grounds so to say he was over was the understatement of the year. He got on the mic and said that for one night only, it wasn't about the NWO. This was Lexington's own Randy Savage. He and Benoit put on a 38 minute classic. No run ins, no storylines or gimmicks, just two guys going at it. Never left the ring for a second. Benoit went for the crossface like 5 times, got it twice, but finally went down to the elbow, after kicking out of the first one. Both guys got a standing ovation. Best match I've ever seen.
