Great Idea WWE vs TNA

AllanC

Occasional Pre-Show
i know someone is going to bash me for this but, think about it, WWE and TNA remain separate companies, but one night out of the year, both Wrestling companies go head up at a PPV.

The best from WWE get to go against the best of TNA, the possibilities are endless. We could see Jeff Hardy take on CM Punk, and get revenge for all the trash talk Punk did after Jeff left. We could see Beer Money take on whatever lame tag team WWE will throw at them, AJ Styles vs Chris Jericho, Abyss vs Kane, Legacy vs Motor City Machine Guns, Sheamus vs Matt Morgan, Triple H vs Jeff Jarett....

so many different possibilities...and just think of the awesome tournaments that would happen leading up to the event...But now time for what the winner gets....either the winning company should get like a ring, a trophy, or a championship....like an All-time World Championship that can be defended through out the course of the year in that company, and then defended by whoever holds the title at the time of the PPV...and not to mention the winning company would have a ton of bragging rights...

In short this would open the door for more fans, more competition, more talent, and more wrestling....

While it would benefit the fans sure, why the hell would the WWE want to do this? They dont need to give TNA this easy advertising time. I agree that it could be great fun, and I would love to see something like this, but it wont ever happen unless one company takes over the other.

Also you talk about the winning company obtaining prizes, that would be fine if the competition was actually there. I assume you know that wrestling is scripted making prizes seem kind of silly no?

Fine idea, and would be fun but realistically it would not happen.

Yeah...no.

This won't happen as long as both are in "competition" with each other. Why should Vince do this? As of right now, and this is the time frame I am going to use for your PPV example, TNA is no competition for the WWE. Why would Vince give them more publicity, likely on his own dime? Or an even better question, why would Vince allow his own wrestlers to job to the "lesser" competition? Dixie wouldn't allow her guys to lose all of their matches, even if the matches were all top notch.

It is likely a losing situation one way or another. I'll go through a few scenarios. Some of Vince's stars lose to the TNA stars. Vince likely loses some viewers to TNA. TNA stars look fantastic in an all losing effort, again, probably going to lose some viewers. Or Vince just absolutely crushes any TNA hope, and squashes a decent amount of matches, making TNA look like a worthless product that no one should pay attention to.

There is no talent exchange, the WWE isn't going to Orlando into the iMPACT Zone and wrestling for any TNA titles, and vice versa. No reason for Vince to have a Supershow with his "competitors". Hell you would need Vince to even acknowledge TNA as competition before this could happen, and that likely won't happen for a while.

In addition to the "Why would Vince do this" train of thought, there is the simple matter of logistics. Who is in charge of booking? Who gets to win each match? It isn't as if this is the AFL vs. the NFL, two rival football organizations that started playing each other in a real game, wrestling is booked! The WWE isn't going to agree to let their wrestlers job to any TNA wrestler, and TNA isn't going to agree to let their wrestlers job to any WWE wrestler.

The OP's post might have worked with WWE/WCW after Vince bought them, because then technically, they would all have been under one roof, but TNA is a completely separate company, and there is no working relationship like the WWE had with ECW. This idea simply could never work.

This is a possibility that was talked about last summer and the answer remains the same. The WWE has absolutely nothing to gain from this while TNA would gain monumental exposure without really even having to pay a dime in order to do so.

The WWE would be the draw of the show. TNA iMPACT! is no longer even drawing in the low 1s in the Nielsen Ratings at this point. I'm certain they'd be more than happy to allow the WWE to do the job of getting TNA over with a larger audience when they've been unable to do so themselves. TNA is a rival company that could profit, potentially, from even having the WWE acknowledge their existence one one of their television shows. The WWE's not going to do that and there's no real, logical reason why they should. When you're in competition with a rival company that's looking to take away your audience, the dumbest thing you can do is to offer them help to do it.

ok ok, i understand that it is scripted, but you guys are missing the point, for one night pure wrestling could take affect, and instead of scripting what goes on, they actually do wrestle...that right there blows away everyones "scenarios". and yes, it would break TNA out, it would get recognized, but the point here is, THE RATINGS WILL GO UP FOR BOTH COMPANIES....and if both companies are in on the PPV then both will benefit from the profits, cause everyone will be tuning in...it would indeed bring in old fans to see the only competition go head to head with the powerhouse...therefore more fans will tune in to see this...someone mentioned tna going over to wwe to face the champion...that wasnt really what i meant by the championship....the belt would only be defended in the company that is holding it for the time being...You mention TNA will profit from WWE acknowledging them....point blank...WWE already acknowledges TNA as competition, just not as big yet....

I don't think anyone's missing anything. Just because it might be an ideal fantasy for some fans doesn't necessarily mean that it's a feesible idea. You have know way of knowing that ratings for both companies will go up, you're just assuming that because you believe it would be a great idea that you'd love to see come to fruition. That, however, doesn't mean doing a cross promotional show would aid the WWE at all.

The WWE would be the draw for such a show at this point. Their company would be the ones filling up arenas at this point because TNA sometimes has trouble filling venues that can only hold 1,000 people. TNA would, no doubt, demand an equal share of the gate and the revenue generated from ppv buys despite the fact that they would only be supplying only a small fraction of the audience. I see lots of potential money for TNA, I see exposure of their product on a much bigger level and I see open acknowledgement of them from their chief rival and largest wrestling company in the world under this scenario. I see nothing in this for the WWE.

As for the WWE acknowledging TNA, I'm talking about on television. Of course internet fans know that, privately, the WWE acknowledges TNA's existence and watches what TNA does. However, the vast majority of the wrestling audience isn't comprised of internet fans. It's a pipe dream that's never going to happen unless Vince McMahon comes to own TNA Wrestling one day.
