Girl Meets World

I have been watching. Of course I like BMW better, but that one was directed towards me. It is great to see Shawn again, he really adds a lot to the show and makes Cory better. I kinda wish Cory was a stronger character, he is kinda a push over. Season 2 coming makes me wonder, there are rumors about it dealing with death, which has my attention.

I saw something before on Twitter that in Season 2 Cory stops being a pushover. Or at least they address that. I can't remember which.

I finally got to watch the Shawn episode and I marked out like a 13 year old girl at a One Direction concert.

They nailed this with every scene having a great balance of comedy. The little flashbacks to the original series were great, especially the snoring/yipping. The Farkle part cracked me up and the whole thing was a blast.

The one thing I'm worried about is this turning into a Boy Meets World nostalgia series instead of a new series. The stuff with the kids has been really good, especially since Maya steals every scene she's in. She has that it factor to her and she makes the show work.

A little bit of both. The writers have said we will see the two worlds merge more often. See if that holds up or not, Eric, Morgan and Feeny still haven't come on yet.

Eh I could live without Morgan. She was always just kind of there. Eric and Feeny can be around but not as a major focus.

You should see how the original morgan Lily Nicksay looks like now, turned out really nice. Neither Eric nor Feeny should be major, just a few episodes would do. Feeny is too old for a long term thing anyway.

What became of Eric Matthews? It is so hard to guess. Maybe he became a weatherman. Perhaps he franchised his father's wilderness store. It could be that teaching was his call. Anything would be better than living in a van down by the river.

Eric Matthews 2015

Do you want smart Eric in search of transcendence? Or do you want off-center Eric?

I think a little of both would be good. My preference would be that Eric found success but stayed true to himself. Either way, as long as we hear the Feeny call all is right with the world.

I like to believe Eric became a hermit who married a moose and wears a slightly used lollipop around his neck. He also has a new name:

200

Everyone, meet Plays with Squirrels.

Honestly if it were up to me Eric would have had Cory's role as the wacky teacher for his niece and friends. He was much more of a protege to Feeny than Cory was. Hell there was even an episode on Boy Meets World based around Eric finding out the pride of being an educator when Mr. Feeny asked him to substitute for a class where he was testing Immigrants wanting to become US Citizens. Nothing ever suggested Cory would follow in Feeny's footsteps, but the hints were there for Eric since like season 3.

I would have made Cory much more of an Alan Matthews type. Hard worker providing for his family, not a pushover, not so goofy, but a good and humorous man.

Still a decent enough show but I'm just saying if I had control that's the route I would have tried to go in.

I'm still really enjoying the show. There's been an episode or two that I didn't care for. Not enough for me to quit watching though.

Anyone still watch this show?

Yesterday's episode, "Girl Meets Rileytown", was brilliant and the best episode of the show so far. It was powerful and emotional. I almost teared up several times throughout the episode. It was more like an episode of Boy Meets World, serious and less silly. Kudos to Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter, that was excellent acting from the both of them and shows their dynamic range as actresses.

The episode was actually a response to critics online who complain about Riley's character. I don't get the critisicm for Riley's character. She's like Cory and Topanga's characters in Boy Meets World, so what's wrong? Maybe it's just society's standards now, people wants things to be less goofy and more serious & realistic nowadays. I don't know, but I've never had a problem with her character.

The episode definitely brought the feels. Riley and Maya definitely did well acting-wise but I was impressed with the Lucas character as well. Wonder what he would've done if they really let him loose. When Riley confronted the bully, I was glad that they didn't put a face to the bully. That was powerful right there. Everything about the episode was awesome. This was their first super serious episode and they nailed it. Wonder if that sets things up since the final three episodes of the season take place in Texas I'm guessing? We'll probably learn more about Lucas.

I watched it and the idea that people are complaining about Riley is lunacy. These are probably the same people who pine for the following:

Corey: the most innocent man that ever lived.

Eric: borderline ******ed.

Shawn: ALWAYS ready with some kind of encouraging speech.

Riley is fine, even though Maya steals every scene she's in. I wasn't wild on the bully not being shown at first but it started working better as it went on.

Season 2 has been much better than season 1 because of them tackling serious issues like this. I hope they continue down this path, and that if it gets too serious for Disney, that they don't cancel it. They can just move the show to ABC Family or someplace like that.

Anyway, I agree with you guys saying it's ridiculous to criticize Riley. I found her antics goofy and over the top at first as well, but at the same time, Corey and Topanga's relationship was goofy and over the top too, yet they're consider the "perfect" couple among folks who grew up with Boy Meets World. And if you think about it, if you had a daughter, why wouldn't anyone draw up Riley as the ideal daughter to have? Not just for Corey and Topanga, but for anyone? She's well into her adolescence and is still sweet, innocent, smart, adorable, loves her family and friends.... I mean, of course the perfect couple came up with the perfect daughter, right? You'd have to be a real jackass to dislike the Riley character.

That said, while I'm sure your source is legitimate Big Poppa Machismo, I actually interpreted the episode as them confronting faceless trolls on the internet who are so hateful and will go to unimaginable lengths to embarrass someone and even ruin their lives. That's why I thought they kept the bully off camera.

And yeah, absolutely, great acting from the young ladies last episode. Very, very impressive.

The show has done a great job of tackling actual teenage issues. I watch it with my daughter when it's on, and it's very well done. Recently, they did a take on Asperger's and cyber bullying. I think a move away from Disney channel, while maybe a ratings mistake, might get more teenagers to watch it. It's been a really good re-boot without rehashing everything done in the original.

I spent the other day looking up cameos and appearances by the old cast on this show on YouTube, it's cool they've brought back so many characters major and minor at one point or another. Might be time for another spin through the original series, though I did just do that a few years ago. The Scream episode is still the best. Few things get my nostalgia going that hard.

I'd catch up with this show but there's already well over a dozen other shows I've started or want to start. I'll probably stick with cycling through the original Degrassi shows for my fix of addressing serious teenage problems.

Agreed. The cameos they have had have been with a purpose too. I really enjoyed seeing the kid that Eric hung out with in the original come back to help him.

Just wondering if any of you are still watching the series? I wanted to know because tonight's episode guest stars Mark Cuban. One of my favorites sharks from Shark Tank and I really consider today's episode having a strong impact about money.
