I am pretty new to UFC, but the good thing is in the UK we get the PPV's 2 days after for free on bravo.

I saw the last one, i can't remember who were fighting, but it was absolutily brilliant.

I can't wait for my next fix

Trying to keep this thread alive

UFC 75 Champion vs Champion Rundown-

Main Event-
UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson VS Dan "Hollywood" Henderson

This match should be the biggest bout of the year so I am suprised it is not a PPV. This match should live up to the hype as Rampage is explosive and Henderson has proved to be one of if not the best in the game pound for pound other than Fedor.

Matt Hamill vs Michael Bisping
In what should have happen during the Ultimate Fighter show, Hamill and Bisping will go out swing against one another. This match should be action packed with tackdowns and strikes from the top all fight long.

Mirco Cro Cop Filipovic vs Cheick Kongo
In what is being billed as a fight to see who the better striker is, it won't take you long to find out. Cro Cop got caught of guard in his last fight against Gonzaga and as a result he is fighting a less than stellar Kongo instead of Randy Couture.

Marcus Davis vs Paul Taylor
Interesting match up to see who can move up the ladder and get in the title picture with one or two more wins after this fight in a crowded division. Its hard to see Davis losing right now, he's been on fire.

Houston Alexander vs Alessio Sakara
Crafty veteran Sakara taking on Alexander who exploded on the scene after destroying the Dean of Mean Keith Jardine in 28 seconds. This match should have some interesting techniques brought out by Sakara to avoid what happened to Jardine.

This looks like a great event and should be better than most UFC PPV's. I would recommend tuning in, especially if you're new to the sport, so you can learn all about Dan Henderson.

Fight of the Night- Henderson vs Jackson

Bust of the Night- Cro Cop vs Kongo

Prelim bouts later.

I was supposed to be going tonight. I've fucked up my hand though so now I cant drive. I'm a bit pissed of 'cus it looks like a really good show. Usually they just make an average card knowing full well that the English & Irish will pay to see it anyway. Cant believe I'm missing Rampage in the UK.

Damn, thats a tough break. This should be a solid card which is something that the UFC doesn't put on unless there in LA or Ohio. At least you can watch it for free still!?!

This PPV was a massive bummer for me. Crocop fought like he didn't have a pulse at times (although taking four shots to the nuts and a broken rib didn't help). Plus, as much as it may upset some of my WZ mates from the UK, Hamill got robbed. On the positive side, though, the main event was definitely worth the hype as Rampage and Hendo showed everyone why Pride was definitely a worthy promotion...after all, two of it's golden boys headlined a UFC show...and tore that shit up with a hell of a fight. Rampage impressed the hell out of me and I really do think that he's at or near his apex as a competitor and will be very tough to dethrone.

I agree that Hamill won. Then again I cant imagine what would have happened if the decision had gone the right way. When I saw Bisping a few months ago his pop was the best I've ever seen, including wrestling.

I loved the main event. Most the people I spoke to thought it was shit. Then again there not heavily into MMA. For them MMA begins and ends with UFC.

The main event was not shit, it was what happens when you get two world class fighters at an equal level in the ring together.

I agree totally that the only reason Hamill lost was because the fight took place in the UK and Bisping is their hero. The UFC is all about selling tickets and Bisping sells them in the UK. They're trying to build him up so he can go for the belt undefeated in England. I don't like how he talked trash after the fight, he can't seriously think he won.

Cro Cop always looks uncomfortable when the other fighter is pushing the action. I didn't expect Kongo to push the action and thought Cro Cop would score the KO. Great job by Cheick Kongo.

Houston Alexander did exactly what he did against Jardine against an accomplished fighter and put himself on the radar.

Overall, it was a ok show, glad I didn't have to pay 50 bucks for it.

Well, this is the card and info for the next UFC PPV: UFC 76: Knockout,

Date: September 22, 2007
Location: Anaheim, California (no tickets for me, damn)
Venue: Honda Center
Broadcast: PPV

Main Card

* Chuck Liddell vs. Keith Jardine
* Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Forrest Griffin
* Jon Fitch vs. Diego Sanchez
* Thiago Tavares vs. Tyson Griffin
* Kazuhiro Nakamura vs. Lyoto Machida

what do you think? I think The Iceman face a great fighter in Jardine, and it must be a Win or win for chuck, if he wants to return to the title scene; also, i'm looking forward to see Diego sanchez again, Ive seen it a couple of times on TV and I think he is great! he seems very confident over the last interviews, so, lets see...
Mauricio "Shogun' Rua makes his anticipated UFC debut against Forrest Griffin, theres already a big buzz around this fight, so it better not disappoint!! though, ive read some things about Shogun...impressive, he defeated Rampage when he fought in PRIDE!!

I highly recommend finding some Shogun fights in PRIDE. He has amazing stamina and great skill. Right now, he is actually the top ranked 205 pounder in the world (even higher than Rampage and Henderson). The UFC is just having him fight Griffin so that his eventual title fight can be marketed better.

The Sanchez-Fitch fight could deliver however, I have found Diego boring since he joined the UFC. I'll take Fitch in this one.

The Main Event is pretty weak considering these two are both coming off first round losses via KO. Jardine stands more of a chance than people are giving him credit for.

Overall it looks like a weak card put since we order every MMA PPV between my roomates and myself, at least I'll only pay 1/3 of the price.

Damn, big news on UFC Champion Randy Couture leaving the UFC. i guess he left cause ufc couldn't sign Fedor to a contract. this hurts the ufc big time. and now they don't have a Heavyweight Champion. i just hope ufc could sign Brock Lesnar cause i think he would be a great UFC fighter. he would be the next big thing for MMA.

well i guess it was about time for randy couture to leave i mean what the man is good, but with all these new up and comers it was only gonna be a matter of time...but i thought he still had a few more fights left to his contract. Like i thought his contract was for 4 fights...?

So who you think is gonna win tonight....

Anderson "The Spider" Silva or Rich "Ace" Franklin???

To me i am going with Franklin, he is one of my favorite fighters and i think its time Silva loses the title i think you can take advantage of him at points but also he can take advantage ofo you. He does let himself open at points just that window is not very big but with the hometown crowd behind Franklin i think he will take advantage of that and get the win.

Either Knockout by Franklin in round 1 or we go the distance with Franklin getting the decision.

I am going to disagree on that one. I think Anderson Silva has Franklin beat in almost all aspects of fighting. Silva is an amazing striker and is more seasoned on the mat than Rich.

I'm not ordering this PPV because this card looks too weak to pay 50 bucks for, but I wish I could watch this one fight.

I'll take Silva in round 2 TKO.

I agree with you on the card as a whole i usually get all the pay per views but not this one as i only see 1 fight worth the month Franklin/Silva.

Whats everyones thoughts on the rumored Chuck Liddell/Wanderlei Silva fight to be added to UFC 79 which already has a Matt Hughes/Matt Serra title fight on it???

It would have been nice to see Liddell/Silva three years ago but this should still be alright. The fight (if it happens) should be heavily hyped, and probably won't live up to it.

Personally, I think Chuck is one of if not the most overatted fighter of all time. He was fed fighters that he matched up with greatly, and when he finally got a challenge, he was quickly KO'd.

Silva on the other hand, has fought all different types of fighters even heavyweights that outweighed him by up to 70 pounds. Watch the PRIDE openweight tournamnet, the final four is Silva and three heavyweights.

The UFC needs to get back to what they were doing around UFC 40 and up until Chuck's title win, and thats put two LEGIT Main Events on each card.

I agree cause i already know if UFC 79 has Hughes/Serra and Liddell/Silva that i am ordering and having a party with lots of beer hwile it is on.

Any card with a few top notch fighters or matches makes me want to buy the ppv.

I wouldn't call Liddell overrated i just think who he faces and their style has alot to do with the outcome of his matches. Overrated = No. He can knock anybody in the world out with one punch. Not every fighter can have the same said about them.

I personally think that silva is going to knock him uot in the first, don't get me wrong i really like chuck but he just doesn't seem to be the fighter he used to be, unless his loss to jardine knocked some sense into him i don't see him winning. didn't he say in the last training coverage of him that he trains the same for every fight? to me if you lose back to back its time to bring your game. So for the sake of a good fight i hope he does. I also think its ccol to have hughes and serra on the same card, but it seems that with that grudge match between those two that the chuck/silva fight will overshadow the hughes/serra one.

Can you help me with some questions I have about UFC, UFC has a regular program called: "Ultimate Fighter", right? But UFC also have PPVs, right? And its like UFC 56, and so?

What's the difference between Ultimate Fighter show and UFC PPV's? I started to watch Ultimate Fighter Season 6, I'm already on episode 4 but I don't know much about it.

The show is about up and comer fighters trying to get into the UFC, in each of the seasons they have had at the very last show they annouce who will be fighting for a contract to the ufc with the winner gettin a 6 figure contract. Then the PPV are for current ufc fighters to showcase their talent to move up in the weight division

The show "The Ultimate Fighter" is about pro fighter trying to earn a UFC contract. Its not the best way to get into MMA in my opinion seeing as the try to make it resemble street fights.

The numbered UFC's are their main cards that are usually on PPV but just recently they showed two on cable (this had to do with the events being in Europe and they didn't want to show it on PPV at what would be around 3pm in the states).

They also have Ultimate Fight Night on free cable. These are smaller cards featuring one semi big fight and than mostly Ultimate Fighter losers.

If anyone saw Liddell/Silva and GSP/Hughes let me know...i'de love to talk abot them two fights especially the Liddell/Silva one...i think Liddell is on his way back to the title.

It was obvious Wandy was coming down off of the steroids and he fought like he didn't have a pulse. Neither one of those two would have a snowball's chance in hell against Rampage and Chuck would get sodomized worse than the time before. I personally would enjoy seeing a rematch between Wanderlei and Chuck so that someone actually gets knocked out. Chuck is counting his blessing that soccer kicks and stomps aren't allowed after he was knocked on his ass by Wanderlei in the second. Overall, Chuck looked in pretty decent shape, but the absence of HGH use is obvious with his lovely abdomen at each succeeding weigh-in.

Wanderlei has the potential to beat some quality opposition in the next few years if he keeps training and returns to the aggressive style that made him the most feared 205er on Earth. And if he fights intelligently instead of just trying to box with four-ounce gloves. He practically forgot that in MMA you can use takedowns, knees, elbows, submission wrestling. He's only 31 and has the time to adapt to the cage and rules, so he may not be finished yet. Plus, he hasn't even solidified which camp he is going to train with full-time now that his Chutebox days are over (although the stints at Xtreme Couture can't hurt, either).

Chuck is pretty much in the same position as Hughes is (which I'll get to later) and as long as Rampage sits on top of the throne, Chuck won't get a hold of the title because Rampage is the superior organism. As for the fight? Sloppy. Entertaining but sloppy. Both guys had tremendous chins during the exchanges, but Wanderlei didn't put any of the ground game to use and fought like a ****** because he should've worked more on the floor and actually put his BJJ black belt to use. Chuck schooled him, but I'd like to see them fight again.

Chuck won't leave Hackelman's camp and cannot adapt his game to fit the newer breed of light-heavies that are on the market and have found out how to beat his counter-punching methodology. I don't see him beating Jardine, Forrest, Lyoto, or probably even a healthy Shogun at this rate unless he re-tools his game with a fresh approach that forces him to regain coordination with his kicks (which have been shit since the days he Van Damme'd Babalu the first time). There is a new guard of 205 lb. fighters with youth on their side that in several years will beat the guys to beat. Rampage, Forrest, Sokodjou, and others have turned the weight class into a veritable shark tank.

As for Hughes? He's done. As long as GSP is in his weight class, he'll never get a sniff of the supremacy he once had. That fight was almost pitiful to watch. After a whole season of TUF, I was frothing at the mouth for Hughes bible-thumping, self righteous ass to get squashed...but it was beyond that. He was lambasted in a way few former champions ever experience. Beaten on the feet, ground, and everywhere in between. He had zero answers for anything that Georges threw his way. Perhaps it's Hughes' unwillingness to change his game, old age, or just the fact that Georges has just gotten that damn good. Whatever the case, I do feel that Serra's days wearing the luckiest championship since the US Hockey team beat the Russians in 1980 are very, very numbered. In the end, it looked less like a championship fight and more like a teenage kid slapping the shit out of his goofy little brother in front of several thousand of his closest friends.

Hughes...wow that guy has lost it. I always youtube his name and all these great fights pop up. I see what a beast he was and now I see what he has become. Wow. I think his new job might be a car dealer.

It's probably a combination of things, in all honesty. His unwilligness to adapt to his deficiencies (namely striking and the deterioration of his ground technique and overall explosiveness). Also, I don't think it helped that he stopped training with Miletich's team. All those things added up equal Frenchie spanking your ass like a twelve dollar hooker on pay-per-view.

I went to Matt Hughes book signing and have nothing but good things to say about him. He was extremely nice, kind of soft spoken though. He signed more than enough copies so the Barnes and Noble can still sell autographed copies today. The book is called Made In America and should probably be picked up by any fight fan.

As for UFC 79, I was extremely disappointed with Wandy. He is my all time favorite fighter, and one of the main reasons I had always supported PRIDE over UFC. After hearing people say Chuck could woop his ass I would just blow off such an idiotic statement. I know he is a shadow of his former self but I still think he should have been able to beat the MOST OVERRATTED FIGHTER OF ALL TIME! Yeah I said it, and I'll stand by it forever. If this fight happened three years ago, it would have been a massacre. I'd have given Chuck two minutes, thats it.

I watched the fight with, who I refer to as, my meathead mainstream MMA fans. MMA starts and stops with Chuck and the Ultimate Fighter Show for them. I'll admit that I felt saddness to the point of almost shedding a tear as I watched Silva take combonations to the face while they yelled "KNOCK EM OUT CHUCK." Maybe I'm just biased because I own every PRIDE event ever on DVD and watching it brings me back to when I loved every MMA event, but hearing people shout for "The Iceman" over Silva seriously makes me think "what the hell sport have you been watching."

As for GSP and Hughes, not much to say. I only somewhat enjoy Hughes while GSP has been a fighter I always liked. Maybe it was a fitting end for Matt to show that there are far more dominant fighters than him. He had a run simliar to Chuck, where the UFC had little competition and they protected his win streak.

Anyone who writes in this thread, I would like to know who your current and all time favorite fighters are. MMA is my favorite sport and has been for a while, it seems Kasey has a great grasp on the sport so I would enjoy keeping this thread at least semi hot.
