G1 Climax 25 All Days LD

Shadowmancer

I am The Last Baron
I thought I may as well make a Live discussion thread for this all dates being covered makes sense since I think it will probably be like night one in terms of people in it.

Anyway night 3 starts in roughly an hour and a half

Eight Man Tag Team Match: Satoshi Kojima, Jushin Thunder Liger, Tiger Mask & Yohei Komatsu vs. Michael Elgin, Mascara Dorada, Jay White & David Finlay

Satoshi Kojima and Michael Elgin are squaring off on the next night.

Tag Team Match: CHAOS (Tomohiro Ishii & YOSHI-HASHI) vs. Bullet Club (Yujiro Takahashi & Cody Hall)

Tomohiro Ishii and Yujiro Takahashi are squaring off on the next night.

Tag Team Match: Hirooki Goto & Captain New Japan vs. Bullet Club (Karl Anderson & Tama Tonga)

Hirooki Goto and Karl Anderson are squaring off on the next night.

Six Man Tag Team Match: Yuji Nagata, Tomoaki Honma & Ryusuke Taguchi vs. CHAOS (Shinsuke Nakamura, Kazuchika Okada & Gedo)

Yuji Nagata and Shinsuke Nakamura are squaring off on the next night. Tomoaki Honma & Kazuchika Okada are also squaring off on the next night in the main event.

G1 Climax 2015 Block A Match: Kota Ibushi [0] vs. Doc Gallows [0]

G1 Climax 2015 Block A Match: Togi Makabe [2] vs. Bad Luck Fale [0]

G1 Climax 2015 Block A Match: Toru Yano [0] vs. AJ Styles [2]

G1 Climax 2015 Block A Match: Katsuyori Shibata [0] vs. Tetsuya Naito [2]

G1 Climax 2015 Block A Match: Hiroshi Tanahashi [2] vs. Hiroyoshi Tenzan [2]

Card for the night. Looking like it could be a good one with Naito and Shibata facing off, and the Ace of the Universe against Tenzan in Tenzan's home town. Makabe Vs Fale could be a sleeper as well

Opening match involving the Young lions, which is always decent to see if any of them make it in the end, this current crop of young lions in New Japan are definitely a good lot potential wise. Though it is a bit surprising that there are only two Japanese young boys right now

All the tag matches are worth a check out if you are into it, but the actual reason for the tournament are about to start soonish

Fale and Makabe was fun but not amazing, And AJ Styles just proved once again he is the best wrestler in the world once again with that match against Yano Toru

Not a bad Main Event. And to quote someone on Wreddit. "Hogan is now persona non grata, so Tanahashi is now the most prominent pretend musician in wrestling."

There's not. There's Sho Tanaka, Yohei Komatsu, Takaaki Watanabe (currently on excursion). El Desperado is an other ex-young lion of the generation, and Hiromu Takahashi is in CMLL wrestling as El Kamataichi on excursion.

Granted, five isn't all that much, but New Japan's training standards are ridiculously strict, which combined with the far looser set up of bringing in freelancers + longevity of their wrestlers means turnover isn't as quick.

Problematically though, NJPW needs more rookie heavyweights. They've got a serious dearth of those, and even if a lot of their guys (Ibushi, Shibata) aren't anywhere near the required weight, they need more fresh blood.

Sorry, I also forgot about Dave Finlay Jr, Jay White and Cody Hall.

none of those 3 are Japanese

They fall under the young lion definition, though. All three train at the NJPW Dojo, and even though Hall has stable and branding opportunities with Bullet Club, he's primarily on L&L duties. Bad Luck Fale and Tama Tonga are two other gaijin young lions who came up through New Japan.

I think this is the first time that you have had two New Zealanders face off against each other in a Major Wrestling Promotion

I like this pseudo-Taguchi/Nakamura rivalry, If Nakamura isn't the winner of block B I hope there is a singles match between the two of them for the final day

Honma Vs Okada is exactly what was expected. It is awesome when two wrestlers are over so much that their chants merge into the name of the Tag team you never knew you wanted until now, Honkada

On a rather awesome and slightly off topic note, both Fale and Jay White favourited and responded to my tweet about their tag match possibly being the first time that kiwis have faced each other in a major promotion

Battle of the hosses going on between Elgin and Fale right now in a six man. Fale's work as a heavy man isn't as good as one might hope. Gedo and Jado might want him bulked up, but the guy would do better to drop down to his previous size and work faster.
