Future Hall of Famer:Santino Marella?

I am going to attempt to creat my first series here on the forums. It is basically describing wrestlers who may not be best in getting championships yet, but I think will make the hall of fame. So to start it off here we go Santino Marella.


The Cannoli of Charisma, The Italian Stallion, The Milan Miracle, The "Self-Proclaimed" International Superstar, The Tortellini of Temptation all the names that have been given to a superstar who is resigned to jobbing. He usually can get more applause from the crowd for making a funny comment, than most of the midcard faces can wrestling a single match. He is a crowd pleaser and always is a delight to see when given the proper time to cut a promo. His Italian mess-ups are so comedic and when he does them the crowd is instantly in love. When his theme song goes the crowd erupts for him, and he is a jobber. A person with that much response should honestly make the Hall of Fame way before some hall of famers that are currently in there. I have never seen anyone boo Santino Marella when he is a face because honestly you just have to like someone that strange.

He has made us believed in a finisher called the Cobra. Anyone who can make the WWE Universe believe in a finisher deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. The move is the most ineffective thing in real life and yet he is able to give his hand personality. That is truly talented. I mean anyone who can make us think that making your hand into a snake like position is dangerous than well he must be a vey convincing or someone who the WWE has put complete trust. Somebody with this capablitiy shows that they truly know what it means to be a superstar. He sells everything he does and he sells it more than well. In everything he does we always want him to succeed and isn't that the sign of a true superstar.

He has done stuff that nobody else would ever agree to do. Santina Marella if you don't know was actually Santino. This may have brought more attention to the Divas division than anything ever before it. We were dying to know what would happen and we did. He has agreed to be a comedy jobber which I think nobody would ever want to do. He deserves some award for the work that he constantly does a t a very high class and I think what better way than allowing him to be in the HOF. I think we will see a short World Title reign from him before he goes out and when he does go out he will go out more Santino than ever. You have to love this guy and honestly I think the WWE Universe does.

I think that in the time has been around in the WWE has proven to everyone to give us some hilarious moments. He may not have the accolades but overall he has enough to be Hall of Fame worthy.

Please WWE give Santino a hall of fame ring when he retires.

I know that he may not be what automatically pops into one's mind for HOF however they have been known to put in guys who have actually done something to make themselves stand out. A guy like Kane will get in even though he has had minimum title reigns just because of his connection to Undertaker. I think I could see them throwing him in here just as a curve ball. Not directly after he retires but a few years down the line.

Thing with Santino is that whenever his music plays, (and whenever he gets tagged into the ring) I know it's going to be an enjoyable match.

This guy would, if it were up to me, be getting quite a push round about now.

Horny was Vince McMahon's illegitimate son!!!! Santino has a had a few title runs here and there. Hornswoggle was the final holder of the prestigious Cruiserweight title!!!


In no means do i think that Hornswoggle is a Hall of Famer....and neither is Santino. Don't get me wrong, i think he is truly talented and would love to see him in a serious respect. I honestly think that he could have a monster heel turn if he turned on the fans for never respecting him and always laughing at him.

Randy Orton loves Santino. Santino is without a doubt very entertaining to watch. I think he may be the funniest guy in the wwe. The crowd definitely loves him. Listen to what Orton has to say about Santino. It says alot. I think Santino is liked well in the lockeroom

Since when does a jobber win at Wrestlemania?
Since when does a jobber be the last man eliminated from the Royal Rumble?

Since when does a jobber get a better pop then John Cena?

Santino is multiple time Intercontinental Champion and Tag Team Champion.

Nothing about Santino screams jobber to me, jobbers are expected to lose. Santino loses just as much as anyone else. He just does it with more entertainment.

Santino will be in the WWE Hall of Fame if he can keep and progress this gimmick for the next 5 to 10 years.

The difference is that Santino is actually funny. He pulls off the gimmick and the comedy side of it perfectly. I wouldn't consider him a hall of famer just yet but as far as entertainment goes he has it. I never found hornswoggle funny at all.

It's certainly possible. Hacksaw Jim Duggan & Koko B. Ware are both inductees and they haven't accomplished what Santino has in the WWE. A huge reason why they were inducted was because both of them were extremely loyal, long time employees in the company that were over with the fans. Santino Marella is exactly the same way. Santino is someone that will do whatever is asked of him without any complaint or whining. It's easy to criticize Santino or to just not be into him for what he usually finds himself in. I know I've done it at times and probably we all have at some point. But Santino does his thing, he's monsterously over with fans and always does the best he can and puts his all into it. There's always something very positive to be said about that kind of professionalism and loyalty.

Plenty more unentertaining guys have already made it into the WWE, so I totally see Santino making it in. Also, whenever I go to live events, Santino is one of the most over wrestlers there. Men, women, and children all cheer him. Very rare.

Ok well then in the same logic you could say Santino deserves in because of his IC title reigns and his tag team title reign. Plus some of his feuds/segmenst totally beat out some of Kane's best material. I strongly believe the only reason Kane is who he is is because of Undetaker, which ultimately makes him go to HOF. If there was no Taker then there would be no Kane simply put.

Santino most certainly could go into the Hall. Sure the resume isn't there, but the guy is about as entertaining as anyone to ever wrestle in this business. The crowd absolutely adores him and while he'll probably never be more than a funny man, he certainly has compiled a decent enough resume to consider. He is a two time IC champ and a tag team champ. Sure nothing spectacular, but there have been guys with less of a resume who got in. I think if Santino stays on good terms with the company he can get in as that sort of oddball entry.

I agree with everything you say except this. I think everyone has a purpose in the Hall of Fame. You have the true and loyal WWE star section, you have the people who won the belt numerous times section, you have the comedic section, you have a diva section, and then the celebrity section. I think each person whom they let in has a purpose in each section and do belong there. If anyone got in they would let everyone in but they don't so there is reason to it. It's more of what you did for a certain category than what your belt record is.

It's too early to tell. If he has a 10+ year career in WWE, then yes it is very possible. If he is gone in 2-3 years, then probably not.

Santino is a very solid mid card guy and is very over. I think he is this generations Rwdy Roddy Piper, then again, I thought the same thing about Carlito

Just because a few people think you're funny, even with that insanely stupid finishing move(I cringe when I see someone job to that. It's embarrassing.) that doesn't mean you should be in the Hall of Fame. Just, no. If Santino can get in the Hall of Fame, then anyone can. Yes, he loses often and quickly too but he has held the intercontinental championship multiple times and the tag team championships as well. I'm not going to go into whether or not comdeic people deserve or have a reason to get in however I just feel like addressing the bolded part. Santino can put on a match. I think he may be up their in the category of ring performance. Yes his finisher is a joke and we all know it however if you watch him in the ring he is quite good. His matches are always fast paced and have the ability to have lot of action. I think he is better in the ring than the face of the company Cena. I think you should watch any of his recent singles matches,close your eyes when you know the Cobra is coming and then say you honestly hated the match.

Let's get one thing straight. SANTINO was turned into a joke, and the joke gets a good reception. Before he was the walking unibrow stereotype, he was a judo champion so the guy can actually handle himself in real life. I think we've seen his athletic ability in the ring as well. He doesn't botch much if anything, he's good at taking a beating like few others but that's worth something.

I don't think I'm alone when saying I was hoping Santino would win the RR at the end. I hope he gets a major push sometime soon.

Including his memorable title reigns where he beat Umaga(even though Bobby Lashley helped)and then kept it for some time.And The Honk a Meter where he attempted to beat Honky Tonk Mans record of holding the IC title.The last true IC champion I can think of before Wade Barrett and After Santino is Dolph Ziggler and he made his run Pure Gold.

Santino should make it into the HoF.If he stays with WWE then no doubt when the big guys like Jericho all retire Santino could be in the Main event picture or in a upper mid carder position like Jericho.I can see him with a short maybe 2 months WHC reign before retiring.

Should he go in in terms of most sports hall of fames based on "accomplishments"? No.

Should he go in based on the fact that he's a performance entertainer and that he does his job better than pretty much anyone else? Yes.

How many people could be as consistently over as he is given what he's given to work with? He's talented enough that I guarantee he could be a main eventer. He's a hell of an in ring worker and gives it his all with the character. He has been one of the top 5 entertainers of the past few years.

If the hall of fame is "who does their job the best" then I don't see how, if Santino keeps it up, that you can say he's NOT a hall of famer.

Recently, he has not been much of a jobberr, he fighting guys like alberto del rio and sheamus and doing pretty good against him. He was the last to be eliminated in the royal rumble and had the tag team titles. he has done much better than he did last year when he lost matches in under a minute. I think he will be in the hall of fame, whether heel or face, he has made us laugh by superkicked by shawn michaels or getting soaked by beer from SCSA. He is porbably the funniest guy on the current roster.

Again, he might make it someday, if he stays a company man, but to say he has had memorable reigns is laughable. There are tons of guys that aren't in the HoF that are far superior and have made much more of an impact on others. No one wants to be Santino. If he left today, no one would remember him in the coming years. He will have to be a constant fixture for many, many years to make it.
